I'm amazed that the first thread has filled up. So he's another thread about the inmates of Toddler Towers!

🤣🤣 He would be very welcome, if only didn't have by clowder.

That's what I was thinking - he looks absolutely adorable, but with the current integration issues might not the the BEST idea...

Toddlerteaplease · 03/06/2024 19:30

He's also incredibly highly strung and very noisy. He's a soppy sweetie though. But a bit of a drama llama.

The pictures you've all been waiting for. Pad's feetsies! They are huge!

Pad's pads. So squidgy!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/06/2024 11:05

He's quite happy to have them touched.

You’re very lucky. I get all 20 knives if I try to touch my cats pads

Bagpuss1200 · 04/06/2024 13:09

Oh I hope this can be worked out and they settle it would be awful if poor Pads got sent away 😓

Toddlerteaplease · 04/06/2024 15:22

My parents are out for the day. So I've stayed in with them. They've both behaved impeccably. Penelope is snoozing on the windowsill, Pads is in the bed, either asleep or suckling his blanket. I really hope it will be ok. It would break my heart to part with him. I've ordered another calming supplement for him. And the vet seems quite happy to prescribe gabapentin for Penelope. So hopefully we can get through this.

It's still only been three weeks since he arrived. So still early days.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 04/06/2024 15:25

I'm away Friday/Saturday. I'm not sure whether to confine Penelope to my room. And let pads have the rub of the house. Or vice versa. Penelope will cope better than he will with being on one room.

I think you need to do the best thing for Penelope whilst you’re not there

Scampuss · 04/06/2024 15:53

I think, once your parents have gone, and you've got all your space back, decide on who gets what territory and stick to it religiously. If you do this and then do scent swapping etc, taking it all very slowly, and it still doesn't work, then at least you've done all you can.

Yes, absolutely. I think the best thing for her is to put her in my room. And Paddington has the run of the house. She hid from the cat sitter last time. So she doesn't know her well. So that is y going to help. I'm also on two long days after that. So it's going to be awkward, but quieter for them.

I had a message from the rescue ordering me to start them both on Zyklene. They clearly haven't read the messages I've sent them about Pen starting on gabapebtin! They've both already been on it anyway!

Allergictoironing · 05/06/2024 06:17

Just message back telling them been there, done that, still doing it after x weeks, then ignore!

Toddlerteaplease · 05/06/2024 07:55

I did!

Can't believe Paddington is my 5th Persian. Although Magic and Maia would have only been 13 had they lived. But then I wouldn't have had Cheddar or Penelope.

Pads has just web super good. He was sitting on my bedside table. Clearly wanting to get up and sit next to Penelope, who is sunbathing in her spot. She gently growled. (Didn't move). He went ok, and got straight down.

Bagpuss1200 · 05/06/2024 14:10

Aww Pads wants to be friends, Hopefully Pen is settling a bit more now and they can just rub along

Toddlerteaplease · 05/06/2024 16:18

She's been just like the old Pen again today. Letting me tickle her then grabbing my hand and nibbling it. I'm on nights, and he's just been let out of his room. He came up, sat on the stairs and they looked at each other and he went downstairs again. Such a super star.

Soubriquet · 05/06/2024 17:17

He’s being really patient with her. Like he knows it’s her turf and he’s intruding

OccasionalHope · 05/06/2024 17:38

Hopeful news, he is being such a good boy, prepared to let her be boss.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/06/2024 18:05

We've had some more good interactions this afternoon. He is very submissive. He went towards her once. But I think it was in a 'I want to sniff you' kind of way. Rather than aggressive. I think now she's feeling better, she's showing her dominance. She's on two doses of gabapentin a day. And seeing a Penelope, I've not seen in ages. Which is lovely. The vet prescribed more gabapentin for when she goes to the cattery, but I'm going to to ask if I can keep her on it a bit longer. Since we are doing better.
