I hate her feeling left out so I always get her something, does anyone else do this?

Dcat has always just assumed the Christmas tree is for her.

I've never had the heart to tell her otherwise.

Scampuss · 04/12/2023 16:34

Yes, always.

Last cat also had an advent calendar every year, current cat doesn't do treats so haven't bothered since her first Christmas here.

TooShortToReachThatShelf · 04/12/2023 16:35

I buy a small gift for the cats and dogs my AC own

EmpressaurusOfCats · 04/12/2023 16:37

Of course. And all the pets in different parts of the family exchange presents.

LostCats · 04/12/2023 16:40

Absolutely! One of the best parts of Christmas! When the DC are finally asleep the DCats get their presents in quiet on Christmas Eve so we can all enjoy it without shrieking

AutumnOcean · 04/12/2023 16:42

Yes, their favourite treats or a new toy. They usually prefer the wrapping paper 😂

sixteenfurryfeet · 04/12/2023 16:44

We usually make sure they have turkey-flavoured cat food on Christmas day, that's it. Although last year they did get a storage jar with Treats written on the side.

eurochick · 04/12/2023 16:58

Obviously! We help them unwrap them though. Death mittens are no good for getting into parcels.

RADIOOFF · 04/12/2023 16:58

They’re very fond of wrapping paper. I suspect they look forward to Christmas Day all year, just for the chaos of paper and boxes.

However, they do jointly give a Christmas present to the person who provides them with the most regular and selfless service during the year. (That’s not me - but they let me know what they want their domestic servant to receive, and I order it for them. And wrap it. And sign their names on the gift tag …)

Oldraver · 04/12/2023 17:03

Yes I've bought them a selection cracker and some Christmas Lik-e-lix.

I did pass them to OH and told him not to let the cats see them

The haven't had an advent calendar this year

SirenSays · 04/12/2023 17:04

Pets are family, they all get gifts at Christmas and birthdays.

Gingercatlover · 04/12/2023 17:04

Yes, huge bag of Dreamies 😻

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/12/2023 17:11

As a kid in the 80s and 90s I always got a cat and dog stocking for the pets.

Me and DD have rather pushed the boat out this year. We've got him two boxes of his favourite biscuits (Garfield Kittibix) and I also found a lovely tin with a cat that looks like him on the front. So 'he' can put his biscuits in it. We got a catnip fish toy from the pound shop and finally, a beautiful Merino wool baby blanket for him to lie on (retail at £65, but I got it new from Vinted for a fiver)

Yes, we are bonkers, but we luffs him very much and it's only me and DD at home. Opening the presents on Christmas morning and taking turns with him is fun. He mostly sits in empty boxes of course and eats wrapping paper.

Does anyone not buy their cat a present for Christmas?! Assuming they have one, obviously...

LadyNellCardross · 04/12/2023 17:17

Well this one is thoroughly uninterested in his catnip advent calendar so I'm a bit suspicious if there's any actually in it. However the kids have bought him a catnip mouse for Christmas day so hopefully he'll show a bit of gratitude.

CatMum96 · 04/12/2023 17:19

Yup! Everyone in the family buys four our two cats, and we buy for the pets in the family (2 rats, a dog and a gecko)

Jackfrostnippingatmynose · 04/12/2023 17:21

Of course! Dcat has his own cat-shaped stocking in the fireplace where father xmas leaves a tin of pilchards, tuna or Dreamies 😻🐟 Although he loves a good nibble of wrapping paper and any cardboard boxes!

Heronatemygoldfish · 04/12/2023 17:21

Ours get catnip mice. After the sad demise of Culpeper's we are still very grateful to whoever on here told us about Molly's Mice.

Though how that's going to work this year with two cats and the ginger maniac I'm not sure...

Onthegrid · 04/12/2023 17:23

Yes, so far I have only bought the pet presents, my pets and my adult DC's pets. My clever cat has already had her present, as DH left it in a bag on the table, and she fished it out (catnip toy). They will also love the boxes, paper, tree and any dreamie that comes their way.

Riverlee · 04/12/2023 17:26

The dog has more presents than anyone else at the moment!

WinterNamechange · 04/12/2023 17:28

Yes he has a present, a stocking filled with dreamies and such, he as well as an advent calendar:)

GasDrivenNun · 04/12/2023 17:31

Tub of Dreamies and a toy each for my 2 Dcats. First presents I bought this Christmas.

Floralnomad · 04/12/2023 20:47

We buy for my grandcats . This year I’ve bought them toys . We’ve always bought for our dog , he loves unwrapping things .

StarDolphins · 04/12/2023 20:52

I buy our cat a pack of dreamies & me & my DD always bake our dog some peanut butter & banana cookies! He’s allergic to shop bought treats.

QueSyrahSyrah · 04/12/2023 20:54

Ours gets a main gift (DH takes ownership of this) and a stocking Blush

This year he's getting a heated blanket apparently, and there'll be some treats and a new toy in his stocking, for him to constantly whinge for / completely ignore respectively as is tradition.
