We found a kitten. Tips

Help! My daughter and husband have brought this sweet baby home having found it in a roadside. It’s a bit bitey and scared so I haven’t checked sex yet.

I’m off to the vet in a bit to check for any chip and to see what condition it’s in.

It has a good voice so I’m hoping it’s ok, although one eye is a little droopy.

It’s had a drink and is peeking up a bit now it’s out of the sun.

Anything else I should be doing other than keeping it safe?

I’ve had cats before but rescued as adults, never a kitten!!

His eye has opened much more with the antibiotics and he slept really well last night. He’s in my office with me today and has spent most of the time asleep on my lap with the odd break for food and water.

He’s done all wees in a litter tray so very proud. No poop yet so I’ll keep an eye on him for that. I’m guessing his insides are still all over with the grotty worms and things.

He is an absolute sweetheart and as soon as work is finished my job is to add him to our pet insurance policy and sign him up for the pet club at the vet.

The kids are besotted.

Slightly concerned that we are off on holiday at the start of august and I won’t want to leave him but my mum has agreed to have him given the short notice and will no doubt spoil him!

Ah, the Cat Distribution System is working! Little Terry’s mum was probably nowhere to be found if he was covered in flies and maggots; cat mums are meticulous with cleaning their babies! Even if mum was around, he would likely have succumbed to infection and exposure if you hadn’t spotted him 🥺

Be aware also that clay litter forms clumps when swallowed and is dangerous to kittens.

Really appreciate the litter tips! I’ve rescued adult cats before but never had a tiny one.

I can’t remember if I already said but the vet reckons he’s only 9 weeks old at most. So a bit young to be away from mum really but we’ll look out for him.

That's one lucky kitten.

He’s definitely starting to feel better. He’s climbing and leaping on stuff. He’s eaten more today and drink more and has done a poo so obviously he’s healing.

he’s been joining me on work calls 🤣 (my colleagues love him)
