Missing Cat

CatMom05 · 13/05/2023 19:24

My 5 year old cat went missing last night - it’s been over 24 hours now which is really out of character for her.

She is now an indoor cat due to some strange happenings in my area (rural) however used to be outdoor.

Is she likely to return or do you think something bad has happened to her, being in the sticks and all. 😭😭😭

Oh I hate it when this happens! She will probably return, I swear they like to do this just to give us heartattacks!

Try not to panic x

InBeautifulKindWays · 13/05/2023 21:14

It’s awful when they go off for long periods of time.

If she was an outdoor cat before that’s been made to be indoor, she’s hopefully just taking her chance of being out.

Have you been out calling her? If you google, you’ll find lots of tips on how to attract cats back home.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 13/05/2023 21:22

Hopefully it’s just the warm weather and hunting keeping her out. Keep calling her and put your hoover bag outside so she can smell it.

CatMom05 · 14/05/2023 00:11

Thankyou for your replies😊

I have put my blanket out which she sleeps on too, I have scattered her litter as well as biscuits. Food bowl is out by the door which I have left open tonight.

I've searched high and low for her today but we have a lot of land to cover and land in surrounding areas, however, no sign of struggle. Ive knocked on several neighbours doors also.

Praying she comes home where she belongs💗Thankyou for your support! Xxx

Any luck?

CatMom05 · 14/05/2023 20:07

Nothing still😭utterly heartbroken😭💔

Any buildings she could be trapped inside? Likely that sheds have been open due to weather. Would she meow for you if you call?

CatMom05 · 14/05/2023 20:13

I have been tapping on neighbours doors to ask them which 1 neighbours shed I checked myself, 2 I witnessed do and I believe the other few neighbours as they are cat lovers themselves.

I'm not too sure to be honest, it's been so long since I last let her out I can't remember her response when she's out. I think she used to be touch and go, sometimes she would, sometimes she wouldn't and would just turn up, however, I've heard absolutely nothing!

It has rained just now too and that hasn't even prompted her to come home so at the moment I'm thinking the worst. I hope I'm wrong, I really do☹️

I'm hopping this will be one of the many stories you hear where their cat has disappeared for a while and rocked up like nothing has happened💔

My friends cat disappeared for a few days when it escaped just after she'd moved, he found his way back despite great worrying.

Keep doing what you're doing, post on social media and maybe just check local vets and shelters - just in case. Sometimes those pesky microchips can slip down.

CatMom05 · 14/05/2023 22:19

She's home! Very lethargic and weak, appears to be in shock, I'm putting it to dehydration and shock. I'm monitoring her very closely and if no improvement over night I'll be taking her to the vets first thing!

Thankyou so much for all your support💗💙

Wonderful news 😻

Blingstar · 14/05/2023 22:31

Great news! Hope she's ok.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/05/2023 22:34

If she lethargic and weak I'd be taking her to the emergency vet's tonight. Incase she's actually injured and that's why it's taken so long to get home.

TheDogIsMeowingAgain · 14/05/2023 22:37

Just read this feeling so sad but then saw your cat is home. Great news!

I’d take her to be checked at the vet tonight OP, they’ll give her a good check over for any injuries.

CatMom05 · 15/05/2023 09:50

She's currently at the vets, she's on IV fluids, having some bloods done and on antibiotics as she's quite poorly and running a temp of 40°.

Keeping my fingers crossed for my little fur baby💗🤞🏼

Fingers crossed for a speedy and full recovery.

smooththecat · 15/05/2023 12:54

Did the vet say anything about what might have happened to her? Sending all the good thoughts.

CatMom05 · 15/05/2023 12:59

They have no idea, I did ask but they were more concerned about getting her on the mend. I'm putting it to dehydration and heat stroke as the weather has been really warm by us & when temperature was checked, it was 40°.

They want to keep her in for a few days.
Kidneys and liver are flagging orange on her bloods but they think that’s due to stress, throwing up and not eating so hoping the fluids will correct that because everything else is normal.

They also want to give her more IV fluids as she is still very poorly, they think her weight is a factor of that because with her being a large cat and how rapidly her body’s started eating her fat reserves (I believe he said diabetic ketosis or ketoacidosis) whilst she’s not been eating.

She’ll come through, but need to keep pumping her at the minute because of how weak she is. Xx

Thankyou to all of you asking and supporting. You're all amazing.💗💙

Im so pleased she came home but so sorry she's so unwell. My cat went through something similar last summer, it's so scary. Like children they deteriorate so quickly but like children they also bounce back...she's in the very best place and they're doing everything they can for her. Keeping all my fingers crossed 🤞

CatMom05 · 15/05/2023 13:06

I agree, like children, cats are so resilient! If she managed to find the strength to get herself home in such bad condition I'm positive and hopeful she'll pull through this🥹

Oh no, your poor kitty! It's heartbreaking seeing them so vulnerable isn't it☹️I hope he/she is okay now and lay in your garden enjoying the sun😊💗

miccoops · 15/05/2023 16:05

So pleased she is home and she is lucky to have you looking out for her. I really hope she is on the mend soon. She is definitely in the right place

CatMom05 · 15/05/2023 16:50

They are taking very good care of her, she has been sleeping all day, so I imagine she is exhausted from what she has been through and maybe not slept during her disappearance due to weariness!

Thankyou for your comment. It makes me feel so much better as I feel so helpless at the minute. Tink is the closest thing to me having a child due to fertility issues so treat her as though I would my child (to an extent) haha.

Love to you all!💗

She's fine now, thank you. She went from being fine to nearly in ICU within an afternoon, 2 days at the vets and a couple of days later you'd never have guessed anything was wrong!

I sincerely hope your Tink bounces back the same way :)

Sleeping will do her the world of good, she needs all her energy to fight whatever has got to her. Please keep us updated and hopefully you'll be spoiling her rotten very soon!

CatMom05 · 15/05/2023 19:29

Hi Gallathea! I'm glad to hear your cat recovered💗it has have me hope in thinking that my Tink will too🧡
I've just been to see Tink and she didn't look a good way, however, could see she was putting all her effort into fussing me back! She has only been on her IV fluids for a few hours so I'm praying that once they are in her system a little bit more she will bounce back, she appeared more perky before I left but could see how exhausted she is😭💗

Will keep you all updated throughout!😌
