Missing Cat

My 5 year old cat went missing last night - it’s been over 24 hours now which is really out of character for her.

She is now an indoor cat due to some strange happenings in my area (rural) however used to be outdoor.

Is she likely to return or do you think something bad has happened to her, being in the sticks and all. 😭😭😭

Glad she’s getting treatment at the vet OP. I really hope she’s ok.

I've not heard anything from the OOH vets so no news is good news! Still praying for her 💗

I think she'll need a good 24 hours or so for them to have much to report. No news is most definitely good news!

Try and get some rest tonight (but I bet the house feels howlingly empty)

Yes, most definitely. I'm a strong believer that no news is good news, I left her with the vets at around 6PM and I'm sure the vet said that they wouldn't get off until around 10PM & didn't hear anything then, so I'm trying to reassure myself in thinking she is on the mend if they've not reached out!

It's so hard to relax at the thought of her there by herself overnight as I'm not sure if they were doing 24 hour monitoring - they were indecisive of it as I was leaving. So worried if she declines in the night nobody will be there😭it is horrible without her, does not feel like home at the minute. My mind is on overdrive and to make matters worse I have a really important exam in the morning🤦🏼‍♀️

She's so worth the sleepless nights and worry though😌💗

Ok, my dh had a feeding tube, it’s not the worst thing once it’s in and they know what their doing.

I'm hoping this brings her round a little bit as it'll be day 5 without any food now☹️💔

Oh the poor baby, I am thinking of you and her. Hopefully the calories from the feeding will give her more energy to heal.

Gallathea · 16/05/2023 14:13

Not surprised to hear those no change yet, tbh as I thought it might take her a couple of days to start improving, the important thing is that she hasn't declined.

I hope your exam went well and you have better news later Flowers

Thankyou so much. I thank my lucky stars she came home when she did to get the care that she needs💗I couldn't thank my vets enough, they've been amazing😌

Yes exactly, her temperature has dropped which is really good, she seems a lot more alert now, just still very weak and sleepy💗
Praying the peg feed helps her, not heard anything since I left so new news is good news as I always say!😊
Thankyou so much, I tried my best, however, it was very difficult to concentrate with everything going on.🥹💗

Photo of her below: She's looking much better rested than she did yesterday🧡

She's a beauty 😍 so glad her temp has come down, i think that's the first step (in my non-expert opinion) so hopefully she's through the worst and continue to pick up now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/05/2023 19:48

Aww she's gorgeous , I've just hopped onto this thread and giving you MN paw holds that she picks up the baton and runs with it .

When you say "strange things" happening , do you think she might have been poisoned ? I'm sure your Vet would've tested for this .
A few years back in our neighbourhood someone was lacing ham with poison Angry

It is a worry when they've been AWOL

TheDogIsMeowingAgain · 16/05/2023 20:10

She’s gorgeous OP. Her temperature going down is a good sign. I’ll keep her in my thoughts. Keep us updated if you can. ❤️

Thankyou! She's really trying bless her, we had for cats in total, mine and my partners (Tink) & my partners younger siblings had a cat each (3)! 2/3 went missing earlier this year and have still not returned. I am so thankful that Tink managed to find her way home!
Tinks bloods indicated no sign of poisoning, however, we've had more blood results today which I will post on the main thread shortly!💗
It's so disgusting how people can be so cruel to animals. We really do not deserve them, they are so pure🥹

So after seeing her earlier this afternoon and seeing her look more comfortable and slightly more alert (my personal opinion, nobody knows your fur baby better than yourself)!

The vets proceeded with an abdo scan and more bloods, the bloods still indicated orange on her liver and kidneys which they were putting down to dehydration and not eating for 5 days, was still awaiting urine sample so not sure what that coke back as, but they wanted to rule out diabetes, however they don't think it's this, despite her blood sugars coming back high they are again putting this to the fact she hasn't eaten.

Her abdo scan showed inflammation of the kidneys and a swollen pancreas to which they have diagnosed her with something called 'triaditis' so she's being treated with antibiotics for this and is currently on a feeding tube. The vets are hopping that this should make her come around a bit and hoping she bounces back to her usual self in time, providing there are no other underlying issues😌

Praying for a phone call in the morning telling me that she's like a completely different cat after having the feeding tube over night, more fluids, a bit of TLC and treatment for her diagnosis!💗

Thankyou all again for your support and checking in! Will be back with more updates tomorrow🧡

Update: Just spoken to the vets, they are much happier with her state than yesterday, temp is still fluctuating but glucose levels and everything else is slowly starting to normalise itself! She's had a number 1 & 2 which is great! When on the table this morning for checks she tried to wiggle herself away and jump down which is amazing because she was so lifeless when I took her in and had no fight in her at all!
She still needs to stay in for a few days to ensure she can eat/drink by herself and that she doesn't go backwards but it's looking like my girly is going to pull through🤞🏼🥹💗
