Missing Cat

My 5 year old cat went missing last night - it’s been over 24 hours now which is really out of character for her.

She is now an indoor cat due to some strange happenings in my area (rural) however used to be outdoor.

Is she likely to return or do you think something bad has happened to her, being in the sticks and all. 😭😭😭

Update: Just spoken to the vets, they are much happier with her state than yesterday, temp is still fluctuating but glucose levels and everything else is slowly starting to normalise itself! She's had a number 1 & 2 which is great! When on the table this morning for checks she tried to wiggle herself away and jump down which is amazing because she was so lifeless when I took her in and had no fight in her at all!
She still needs to stay in for a few days to ensure she can eat/drink by herself and that she doesn't go backwards but it's looking like my girly is going to pull through🤞🏼🥹💗

So pleased to read this! Well done Tink, keep fighting!

We are all clapping for you Tink, we believe in fairies cats.

Hurray! This is exactly the progress I'd hoped to hear! So pleased for you :)

Hi guys, thought I'd give you an update...

As said this morning, the vet were happy with the way she was, her glucose levels are dropping and no indication of diabetes, however, temp was still fluctuating!

When I seen her today it was a little bit heartbreaking as it appeared to me that she didn't look as well as she did yesterday as she went a little bit flat again by the time I got to the vets today, which the vets agreed with. Thank god and touch wood, she hasn't threw up again since yesterday and since having a feeding tube but is having regular doses of anti sickness to help with this!

I'm putting the fact that she didn't look well to her being exhausted from being poked and prodded and is on antibiotics (which even for us has an effect). They want to try her feeding by herself tomorrow but if no joy she will have to go back on the feeding tube.

No picture to give today as it was too upsetting seeing her with all her tubes and drips but hoping and praying that tomorrow will be more of an improvement from today🤞🏼💗

Has she improved today?

Toddlerteaplease · 18/05/2023 12:19

My girl had triaditis a few years ago. She was lucky to survive. Not idea how she did. But she's been fine ever since. She had a feeding tube for a few days but started eating pretty quickly.

Iamacatslave · 18/05/2023 13:19

Any news?

Oh no, bless her! It's a bloody horrible thing, I'm glad she recovered!! Will post an update now regarding Tink😊

Update:

Had a lovely phone call from the vets this morning to say that Tink is the best she's been since being hospitalised!

She keeps nudging the vets and trying to pur, and was walking around the cage at the time of the phone call! I've been advised to bring some nice food for her today as they're going to try and take her off the feeding tube! They're very busy today so won't be going until around 3:30/4PM!

Fingers crossed she is the same as she was this morning when I go later on😊

They have no idea, I did ask but they were more concerned about getting her on the mend. I'm putting it to dehydration and heat stroke as the weather has been really warm by us & when temperature was checked, it was 40°.

They want to keep her in for a few days.
Kidneys and liver are flagging orange on her bloods but they think that’s due to stress, throwing up and not eating so hoping the fluids will correct that because everything else is normal.

They also want to give her more IV fluids as she is still very poorly, they think her weight is a factor of that because with her being a large cat and how rapidly her body’s started eating her fat reserves (I believe he said diabetic ketosis or ketoacidosis) whilst she’s not been eating.

She’ll come through, but need to keep pumping her at the minute because of how weak she is. Xx

It will be Hepatic Lipidosis - rather than Diabetic Ketoacidosis.

Iamacatslave · 18/05/2023 19:58

Wonderful news.

CatMom05 · 18/05/2023 22:13

Hello Everyone! Sorry I've been awol today! Been trying to keep myself busy!

The vets and I are all incredibly impressed with Tinks progress and her general mannerisms today! Unfortunately she still isn't eating, however, she seems to be doing really well (touch wood)! She kept nudging me when I seen her and attempting to roll over for a belly rub (she struggled with this due to the size of her and how small her cage is bless her). She has been very active today and went to her litter tray when I arrived and had a big wee! She also kept sitting up and moving around a lot!

They didn't try taking her tube out today but said they will try tomorrow and see how she gets on, so keeping my fingers crossed!

Here is a pic of her (don't be alarmed when you see her as I know she looks awful but this is the best she's looked since returning home)! Xxx

How's Tink today??

She definitely has a fan base!! 💕

Sadly my girl is no longer with us, she left us 13 years ago, a few days after my Dad (her big Buddy) died (she was I'll, we knew she didn't have long, my Dad had offered to take her to the vets for me when it was time) It was all very traumatic. I've had other cats & lived them all, but she was special. I swear she understood my every word. She'd lay on my chest and just look into my eyes (she saw me through some dreadful times in my life).

anyway, we need no more sadness, we need to focus on little Tink getting better 💕🌸😍

Toddlerteaplease · 20/05/2023 16:01

I found that my girl wasn't eating, because she wasn't hungry because she was being tube fed. I stopped the mill and just gave her water and that did the trick.

SarahSmith2023 · 20/05/2023 16:01

Well, welcome home baby girl 💕you get comfy on your bed! You might consider letting mum share if she treats you like the royalty you obviously are!!

Big Smooches,

From the look on her face it is all your fault! I'm really pleased she's home.
