Hi mumsnetters. I’ve been to view this gorgeous cat today. Pending a home check, I’ve reserved him and will be bringing him home next week! I’m in love.

Taking it very slowly and hopefully gradually getting him used to me. Had a few cuddles on the sofa but then let him retreat back to his blanket in a box in ‘his’ room

Have you any smallish boxes (but just big enough for him), that you could cut a cat hole in one end and seal shut with something soft inside?
With something like that in “his” room he might feel a bit more secure.

My cat wees in the wrong place if something has scared him or something has changed , even really small changes upset him.

Or perhaps another cat has moved into the area or a dog has spooked him

Just caught up with all the goings on. Bless him and his little face, I wonder what his previous life was like 😞. Perseverance will pay off, he'll soon realise he's landed on his paws.

You'll get there. I've had a visiting cat since 2019 and he still won't sit on the sofa or on my lap but I can fuss him now
Roast chicken is always good bribery Grin

If you have Facebook there's a page called Happy Kitty blankets, really recommend them. Its got catnip and other herbs, visiting cat goes mad for it and my cat seems to find it comforting

He is beautiful and seems he’s getting there ❤️❤️❤️.OP did he have the collar in the rescue centre ?perhaps he doesn’t feel comfy with the collar ? If he’s on super max lock down in his home then maybe see if he’s comfier without it…might be worth a try
