How many cats do you currently have?

We have 2 rescues brother and sister, they're almost 14. I've just seen that a rescue near me hasn't been able to rehome 2 of their black cats (a pair) due to their age both 13.

I'm not planning on asking any questions about them, I'd love them but our cats are so spoiled I'd hate for them to be unhappy with supposed interlopers.

So if you have more than 2 and got them at various stages do they get on?

No I'm definitely NOT getting another 2!

4...
Had 2, one died.
Got 2 more.
Another cat adopted us.
We're full now.

Beamur · 16/01/2023 18:14

Middle 2 are still not entirely great friends with original cat. They rub along but they're most certainly not pals.

Clarich007 · 16/01/2023 18:16

Just the one... He hates everybody, including me. But I usually have 2 kittens together

Soubriquet · 16/01/2023 18:16

Just the 1.

She’s a right cuddle bum and pampered puss and does not tolerate any other cat. She put up with Colin from our old house, but Colin was a bit dopey bless him and didn’t have a bad bone in his body. The cats where we are now, fight more.

But she’s predominantly an indoor cat anyway

TheCatsMakethTheHome · 16/01/2023 18:16

4, but one is mom and the other 3 are her kittens. Prior to this we had mom as a kitten and our 4 year old cat. The kitten wouldn’t stop attacking him and he moved himself out pretty much 😬 My advice is be very careful in adding cats!

CMOTDibbler · 16/01/2023 18:17

Three, one who is 17, and two who were an alleged brother/sister bonded pair and are 7. They all hate each other

ClandestineAdulation · 16/01/2023 18:19

A brother and sister aged 9, another brother and sister aged 18 months and an orphaned boy aged 16 months!

Silentsalamander · 16/01/2023 18:19

4, all different litters they all get on like a house on fire!

Eastereggsboxedupready · 16/01/2023 18:20

Currently have 2.
May or may not have had 6 many years ago.

Soccermumamir · 16/01/2023 18:21

We have 1. Adopted her nearly 5 years ago from Cats Protection. She will be 9 years old this year 🙂

SagelyNodding · 16/01/2023 18:25

Just the one currently! I'd love to add a couple more to the mix, but I would hate current spoiled boy to feel unhappy or stressed...it's a hard decision and I waver every time I see cats up for adoption 😅

If we had a bigger house and lived in the countryside I'd have sooo many more!

LynetteScavo · 16/01/2023 18:25

I wouldn't have more than 2 because I'd feel like a crazy cat lady. I have one, (we did also have his brother) but I wouldn't dare get another. I don't think it would end well. I can't imagine living with no cat. So I guess I'm a 1 or 2 cat person.

Soubriquet · 16/01/2023 18:26

A friend I know has 12 Grin

She was adamant she wasn’t going to go into double figures…and then she blew right by it

RumNotRun · 16/01/2023 18:27

Seven. Had 9 at one point. I've generally got them in pairs, except when one has been in desperate need of a home. They all get on ok, some will play and sleep with each other, some are happy on their own but don't care if one of the others comes a bit close.

Only one is grumpy and even she likes one of the others (everyone loves Toad)

It's always been the same with any of the cats - one is a grumpy bum, the rest are all fine.

Oh, and DO IT!!! Save the two panther brothers. Black cats are the best.

PerilousErection · 16/01/2023 18:28

Two siblings who aren't friendly and an inherited interloper who also hates them both. However apart from the odd chase and hiss session, they manage to co exist without bloodshed. For example two of them have decided to ignore that the other is in the same room right now as the fire is roaring.

MadameOvary81 · 16/01/2023 18:28

7 of the little buggers! You'd never know it though. Despite being indoor only, they take themselves off to sleep somewhere for the majority of the day. Some pair up and are close...one is a diva and she'd bully everyone given half the chance. It's a pretty harmonious house, for the most part. Though, I reckon we'll be investing in a king size bed in the very near future!

Get the other 2, OP. Double the cats = double the love.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 16/01/2023 18:30
  1. I am definitely not a more than 2 person, though mine are both big and loud and bossy, so fill the space in all ways, whereas I barely knew I had my first cat, she was so independent and aloof.
Soubriquet · 16/01/2023 18:33

I think the two brothers have got a new owner OP Wink

Bagzzz · 16/01/2023 18:33

None, just hoping for pictures

WildFlowerBees · 16/01/2023 18:34

We have a king size bed and there's already not enough room for me, plenty for dh because neither cat bothers him when he's asleep, no he gets ALL the daytime cuddles (they aren't very cuddly really) and I get stabby little paws in my ribs or dislocated hips from one who somehow manages to find her way between my knees so I'm all twisted when I wake up, or the other one wants to use my pillow and stick his arse in my face.

I would love a snuggly cat but we do adore our pair of terrorists is I'd hate to make them unhappy by adding more.

trevthecat · 16/01/2023 18:35

Just one. He is 9yrs. Had him since about a year old. He doesn't really like me and dh! Like the kids though!

VivietteConstantine · 16/01/2023 18:35

5 - three adore each other (they're all related) and sleep and play together all the time, and the 2 older ones spend most of their time pretending the others don't exist 😹
There's occasional hissing but never any actual fighting.

Notgoodatpoetrybutgreatatlit · 16/01/2023 18:36

3, we got two mother and daughter from celia Hammond, they don't like each other much. They look very similar but have very different personalities and interests. Our boy cat appeared just after we got the pair of females. He is very sweet, loves everyone especially visiting tradespeople. Him and the older female aren't friends but don't come to blows often. He loves the other cat and is protective of her.
We planned to have one cat.

Norachance · 16/01/2023 18:36

Four. Mother aged 16 and son aged 15. Another girl aged about 15 and a rescue girl aged 8. All neutered. They all get on though have their tetchy moments.

WildFlowerBees · 16/01/2023 18:36

I've sent dh the link saying we can't have them, we really can't it's madness to even consider it.
