Thought it would be lovely to have a thread showing photos of our rescues cats and how they ended up living with you.

We are owned by two rescues. A Devon Rex boy who joined us when he was 4 from the Rex Welfare Rescue. Our girl is a Calico cat found living at bottom of someone garden. We got her as a young kitten. They’ve bonded beautifully although our boy can get grumpy when she gets too playful or attempts to give him a good wash!

Grey was a feral cat from a local colony, rehomed as still a kitten - vet recently said she was astounded he was a feral kitten as he is so tame 🥰
The black one was a rescue kitten where the mum was a stray and found her way to the CPL where she had her kittens .. so he's quite posh for a rescue kitty 🐈‍⬛

Ma’am , adopted from Cats Protection as a feral kitten and now in her 15th year .
We love her to bits, she rules the roost (and knows it ! ).

This is Boo (white girl) and her daughter Saffron (tortie).

Boo was rescued heavily pregnant with 6 kittens - she had to have emergency c-section as one kitten got stuck and passed away. Thank god she was rescued and did not give birth as a stray.

Both girls were adopted out and returned to the rescue (not their fault). I adopted Boo first then Saffy about 8 weeks later. They aren't bonded but actually complement each other really well. They act like annoying siblings though.

Boo is quite chilled and as long as you let her do what she wants, she's happy. Saffy is as crazy as she is sweet. She's my little helper.

Such gorgeous kitties!! 😍

moggerhanger · 30/12/2022 11:51

Girlcat and Boycat. Girlcat is quite aloof but adores my noisy, gangly preteen DS. Boycat is a mummy's boy but loves playfighting with DH.

Little black and white one - had her from a 5 month old kitten. Loves everyone. Big black one - failed foster - because literally no one would want her. Age 10+ possibly. Hates everyone.

My latest two I've had for a year. Unwanted black kitten and elderly white and tabby. They have become great friends and are very silly indeed together. I was lucky there.

I love them all - especially the black ones. I've always adopted black animals as they are the least popular/get overlooked.

Current foster dog is black and as a result most of my house is covered in black hair - which means I'm currently hoovering twice a day.

So the story of Bibi is that I had recently had to have a young cat PTS in sad circumstances and was looking for a very non-intimidating, even-tempered peaceful cat to go with my other timid girl. So I went to the shelter and this little black and white scrap walked up to the front of the cage, looked me directly in the eye and meowed. I had to go in and see her and and soon I picked her up she just went soft and started purring. She pretended to be the sweetest, most demure and timid little cat that ever was, who would never be any trouble to anybody.

Lies.

As soon as I got her home her personality did a 180. She is a huge character, extremely charismatic, bossy, forceful, and rules the roost. She is unbelievably intelligent. I've never seen anything like it. And I'm not biased, because as much as I love my sweet other cat, I am the first to admit she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Black cats are so beautiful. Can't believe people don't want them.

Everyone has such gorgeous cats! I love them all!! I'm a bit of a fraud as I went to the SSPCA on my birthday 6 years ago to get a cat. However, I have 3 DCs, youngest one being 5 years old at the time and all the lovely adult cats came with conditions such as needing a quiet house, or needing a child free house. Disappointed, I made to leave when the lady showing us around said "we have a kitten room, do you want to see it?" Um yes! And there was little Himé who came up to us (well my DH as I was consoling my 7 year old over all the cats we couldn't get). She was 11 weeks at the time having been picked up by the SSPCA at a week old after her stray mum was hit by a car 😥. So, I say fraud because she had a pretty good life, fostered until she was ready for adoption and came straight to us so it's not like we rescued her from a horrible life. She is the most spoilt thing, sitting here on my prized chair that even the kids aren't allowed on 😂and lounges around all winter on the bathroom floor because it has underfloor heating. Once my DCs are older, I'll be back to get an older cat.

This one has been with us for nearly 5 years. Adopted from CP aged about 9 months old after being handed in to a vet as a stray. He was a proper thug, chewing things, starting fights but he is mellowing as he ages. Still loud and ruled by his belly.

What beautiful kitties! I want to snorgle all of them.

are snorgles when you bury your face in them and blow raspberries (which they only just tolerate for a short while) 🤣

YouWouldNotBelieveIt · 30/12/2022 13:30

What a lot of beauties. They're all gorgeous. My cat died in October (he was a resue, as were all the others we'd had) and I miss him so much. Perhaps I'll get another one, one day.

My darling girl, rescued in June 2020. She loves her garden and even prefers Al fresco dining. I jokingly call her Hyacinth.

We have no official cats or kittens. All details who have adopted us and all outside kitties.

White cat started leaping around our garden about 8 months ago and is very loving and cuddly. Feral but so sweet. Sleeps in a bed in my polytunnel most of the day.

The two tiger kittens are part of 3 whose mum was killed a few months back. They've been sleeping on the back terrace so we started putting cushions down and I've now got my heat mat down for them as their kitten milk started freezing. The other one comes back after dusk and after having breakfast spends the day elsewhere but these two like to hang out on the heat mat.

So that's 4 that are usually wanting breakfast and tea.

We've also now got another 2 that turn up after dark to have at any remaining food. As well as 2 hedgehogs that will snaffle up any dropped food.

These are the best shots I can get this lunchtime of them.

AlisonDonut · 30/12/2022 13:55

All ferals not details.

Mine were rescued by my brother from a shelter in São Paulo. I’ve had them for a couple of years now while he galavants around the world. He gets back to the UK in February-I’m hoping he’ll let me keep them as I completely adore them both. He generally lives with me while in the UK so hopefully they’ll get to stay!

Sisters from Newcastle cat and dog shelter.
The first one they were 11 weeks and had just stopped hiding. The others are today doing what they like best on a wet, windy day.
