Should I rename?

We adopted a beautiful boy this week (our first cat so I'll probably be back for more advice). He's an ex stud, in the loosest terms as he had undescended testicles, he's called Frank but there's no reaction to his name at all.
We're not set on Frank mostly because it was my grandad's name and also because everyone keeps forgetting his name so it doesn't feel like it 'fits' if that makes sense?
So first question is should we rename him? His GCCF name does have Frank in it but we won't be showing him and he's neutered.

Second question is what would you call him?

That cat is CLEARLY a Maurice.

WillMellorsHips · 09/12/2022 19:49

He's a beauty and looks like a Frank! Bless him❤️

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 09/12/2022 19:50

He’s a chonk, btw.

I love him.

maranella · 09/12/2022 19:52

He's adorable. He looks like he's wearing a Batman mask! But Batman isn't a good name - maybe Zorro? I like two-syllable names for cats.

MolesOnPoles · 09/12/2022 19:55

I agree that he looks like a Frank! Otherwise it has to be another bloke he’d see down the pub - Jerry, Stan or Walter. He looks ace.

Els1e · 09/12/2022 19:55

He is absolutely beautiful. 😻Yes, go ahead and rename him. As long you do his bidding, he won’t mind. Can’t think of anything particularly Frank related apart from Lampard. Do you like real names like Arthur? Or object names like Cookie?

Yes 😂😂😂😂

LadyShmuck · 09/12/2022 20:19

We think he needs a 'bloke' name.

I still can't believe anyone would re-home him! I feel like I've won the lottery

I agree with pp who said Maurice!

Yarnosaura · 09/12/2022 20:27

Bob

I've had lots of rescue cats and I've renamed most of them, sometimes to something similar if they do know their name. I think new start new name! How about Eric?

TheLongRider · 09/12/2022 20:31

Rename him!

Jeff
Stan
Alfie
Dave
Barry

purplewolfie · 09/12/2022 20:31

Desmond

HangryFeminist · 09/12/2022 20:32

I’d call him Tank, because he is an absolute unit and also it sounds like his old name so easier for him.

He will know his name by the way. He’s just being completely cat and ignoring it 😂

Batcountry8 · 09/12/2022 20:32

Bailey, his back is the colour of Baileys!

Cat names with an ee sound often get a reaction out of the cat too.

He's unreal 😊

dizzydizzydizzy · 09/12/2022 20:33

Brian or Keith

HangryFeminist · 09/12/2022 20:33

Meant to also say he’s gorgeous ❤️

Toddlerteaplease · 09/12/2022 20:34

Cats need food names. As it's Christmas he should be called Mince Pie

maryofthevirginkind · 09/12/2022 20:36

Peter as in Stringfellow because he likes the ladies

Or Zorro as when his eyes are closed he reminds me of the "mask of zorro" Antonio banderas!

AndISeeNothingWrongWithThat · 09/12/2022 20:36

He is absolutely magnificent! If he was mine, I would call him Beloved Chonker.

theculture · 09/12/2022 20:39

Smudge

But seeing the PP comment about 'ee' sounding names and realising that was true for our cats

Smudgy

Anyway he looks lovely 😊

Memom · 09/12/2022 20:41

He looks lovely. I think Eric or Henry
