Should I rename?

We adopted a beautiful boy this week (our first cat so I'll probably be back for more advice). He's an ex stud, in the loosest terms as he had undescended testicles, he's called Frank but there's no reaction to his name at all.
We're not set on Frank mostly because it was my grandad's name and also because everyone keeps forgetting his name so it doesn't feel like it 'fits' if that makes sense?
So first question is should we rename him? His GCCF name does have Frank in it but we won't be showing him and he's neutered.

Second question is what would you call him?

Travolta
'Tell me about it stud'

ChristmasJumpers · 09/12/2022 20:47

I wouldn't bank on him answering to his name no matter what it is. Ours respond more to the voices we use while saying their names (and when we shout "what's this?!" Which means it's food time 😂)
Frank is a cute name; he'd be frankie in no time here

Nordix · 09/12/2022 20:50

I love him. He looks like a Bob to me.

EmmaC78 · 09/12/2022 20:55

I like the name Frank too. What breed is he? He's a cracker.

BeaLola · 09/12/2022 21:00

My first thought was Bob, followed by Humphrey

He is gorgeous (and I'm not usually a cat person )

He looks lovely - he sounds like he has found a real home with you

He's a British Shorthair, apparently a seal colour pointed and white bicolour. I can't say I knew such a thing existed

Barry - you can't call him Barry! 🤣🤣🤣

I also think Frank suits him but if ifs a family name I get why you want to change it.

Hank the Tank?

Adam?

Robert?

Pirate?

Tony Bandito?

DuchessDandelion · 09/12/2022 21:18

Or Simon

So every time he demands his new cat slaves open the door for him you can say 'Simon says'.

Or your and Oh sitting on sofa of an evening, Simon on your lap and the doorbell rings. You look at each and you tell Oh "Simon says he has to get it because Simon says I can't move"....everyone knows that if a cat is dozing on you, your stuck and must not disturb it.

(It's like Rule #1)

CloudJam · 09/12/2022 21:18

I like Frank. But if I was renaming him:

Bert
Bruce
Badger

BlueSuffragette · 09/12/2022 21:21

Albert
Dennis
Walter
Tommy
Bernard
Seth

DuchessDandelion · 09/12/2022 21:22

"Cosmo"

It suits him and it means beautiful.

He deserves a beautiful name after being pimped out all his life.

SkalengeckOrSiegbarste · 09/12/2022 21:25

Gus?

Clymene · 09/12/2022 21:31

Rodney

dolor · 09/12/2022 21:36

Norman.

He's adorable. He looks like he's wearing a Batman mask! But Batman isn't a good name - maybe Zorro? I like two-syllable names for cats.

Haha I looked at him and Zorro was the first thing that sprang to mind!

Lamentations · 09/12/2022 21:43

Paul?

catsarebetterthandogs9 · 09/12/2022 21:43

He looks like a cat version of a St Bernard, so on that note I'm going to say he needs to be called Bernard

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/12/2022 21:53

Keith or Nigel (but I still think Frank us better)

Bernard is perfect.

peppermum60 · 09/12/2022 22:13

Freddie or Harvey

Justaflippertyjibbet · 09/12/2022 22:17

He looks just like my first cat, also an adoptee, who came with the name Beaver.
I gather that name has different meanings these days!
it was about 40 years ago.

LadyShmuck · 09/12/2022 23:28

Ah we might stick with Frank... A lot of Frank lovers here and maybe he does know his name and he's just choosing to ignore when I call him 😂
He's happily snoozing on DH's lap right now - DH who was badgered into getting him and was definitely not a 'cat person'

He does look like a cat version of a st Bernard, he seems such odd colours for a cat!

With that mask and cape, I'd have to call him CatMan

ladydimitrescu · 09/12/2022 23:39

Nothing and no one has ever suited the name Stanley more than this cat.
