Katkin cat food

I've had a random ad pop up for this, and looking into it I think I'd like to try it. I've put all Sparklingcat's details in and it says the cost of feeding her would be £1.89 a day, and that she would only need 1 pouch a day?

Shes 3kg, skinny with a hyperactive thyroid (which she has tablets for) and about 16. She currently wolfs through 4 pouches a day of 'Felix as Good as it Looks'.

Anyone got any experience? There's a 20% off trial but just not sure.

I'm still at the "run away" stage when the tray is opened

TheClitterati · 15/05/2023 12:29

my 2 can hear the opeing of a tray wherever they are and come running!

I am not loving the trays at all.

I'm back to pouches of cluck on this next order. Bring on the others.

blahblahblah1654 · 15/05/2023 12:36

Can't wait for the old style gobble to come back in stock! It's the only one my cat will eat.

Glittertwins · 15/05/2023 15:06

We've now got new trays for Splash and pouches for Cluck but the pouches are not the same as they were before. They are bulky and not the slim, easy to open across the top. They look just like the trays to me and more awkward to seal in the fridge because we don't put down an entire days worth in one go. I was under the impression that I'd get the old style pouch but maybe I misunderstood

<sigh> Mine arrive Friday.

All this debalce is a fascinating insight as to how vitally important the right packaging can be for a product, company, consumer and pets!!

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 17/05/2023 10:47

They're eating it, but not tucking in like they did before.

TheClitterati · 29/08/2023 21:45

I've gone back to the chunky options in the pouches (not trays) and the cats are very happy.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 30/08/2023 11:09

Ours prefer the pouches. But I had a dilemma the other day. I put them in the freezer, and also in there was a pack of mince from Hello Fresh. I had got them all out to thaw and then I gave the food to the cats. I got it wrong, and some of the cats had raw mince, but the good news is I realised in time before I made a spaghetti bolognese with Moo.

That made me laugh! It reminds me of something I read (on here perhaps?) about someone whose DH made himself (and ate) a chicken sandwich with a tin of Untamed she had left out on the counter.

(To be fair, my DCat has Untamed as a backup when we run out of Katkin and it does look a lot like those sandwich fillers you can buy - very tasty!)

TheClitterati · 30/08/2023 17:16

Spag Bol with MOO 😂😂

AltitudeCheck · 18/11/2023 11:18

Very pleased to say all of our favourite flavours (quack, cluck and gobble) are back in the original pouches/ consistencies and the cats are happy once again!!

they have changed the packaging again and I'm seriously pissed off.

My cats love the food, but there new packaging is ridiculous - I don't know why they would degrade their product this way. The OG pouches were fine and far far preferable to the trays they use now.

I never thought I'd be bothered but now twice a day I'm in a mess with this stupidley "designed" trays. I can't seem to not get my fingers involved now and that never happened before (I've been a customer more than 2 years).

I'm one very annoyed formerly very happy customer.

TheClitterati · 21/05/2024 12:16

new trays are more of an epic fail than the old trays

Glittertwins · 21/05/2024 15:24

How so? We've just had a delivery and haven't started them yet

RobinEllacotStrike · 21/05/2024 22:05

The film doesn't peel off the tray. So you have to cut it & the tray & every time it ends up in a big mess. Compared with the pouches where you just cut the end off and squeeze it out easily. It winds me up twice a day.

Agree - having to cut them open, get sprayed with meat juice. Definitely not an improvement! Elderly cat has been in much better health since making the switch though so not going to cancel.
I know they did revert recipes after a previous change that got lots of feedback so worth letting them know.

Glittertwins · 22/05/2024 04:18

We'll find out later as it looks like new trays have been brought inside. The old pouches also fitted in the freezer better too.

My cat is 14 and hyperthyroid. She usually does just have the one katkin pouch a day but I top her up with biscuits if not. Have you had your cats thyroid levels checked recently? It sounds as if they may be high?

Hi there. May u ask when y9u say pounce do you mean 1 individual serving tray or 2 trays together that come attached in the middle? Thanks
