I've had a random ad pop up for this, and looking into it I think I'd like to try it. I've put all Sparklingcat's details in and it says the cost of feeding her would be £1.89 a day, and that she would only need 1 pouch a day?

Shes 3kg, skinny with a hyperactive thyroid (which she has tablets for) and about 16. She currently wolfs through 4 pouches a day of 'Felix as Good as it Looks'.

Anyone got any experience? There's a 20% off trial but just not sure.

Just tried the intro offer for my 15YO cat. She wolfed it down like nothing else we have given her, loves the stuff... but it's seriously expensive, likely to cancel the subscription just because of the cost.

It is expensive. I have six cats and they have this as well as Blink. They eat better than me!

AltitudeCheck · 05/04/2023 08:29

Our cats used to love ths but KatKin have changed the recipe and now it looks and smells awful and the cats aren't even trying it. Sounds like the company are having issues around a new production site / packaging and upsetting a lot of customers. I do hope they get back to their previous standards 🤞

dontknowwhatisbest · 05/04/2023 12:48

DCat has been on KatKin for over a year and loves it. Our last delivery had one flavour in the new packaging and it does indeed look and smell quite different. I'm guessing because previously it was actually cooked in the packaging, and now it is cooked via a different process and then packed. DCat was very suspicious at first but once he overcame it he seemed to enjoy it as much as before. I'm concerned about the changes though and worried he might not be so tolerant of the other favours once they've changed too. I do hope they are listening to customer feedback because it is absolutely brilliant food and I'd be gutted if DCat won't eat it.

Glittertwins · 05/04/2023 16:51

Our fussy feline wolfed down the new chicken. However, we've been there before so I'll give her another tray or two and see how that goes before claiming a victory

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 05/04/2023 18:23

I'm just about to give mine some of the New trays of Cluck.

AssumingDirectControl · 05/04/2023 23:55

We have the new trays to try tomorrow…

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 06/04/2023 20:33

My cat Jack wouldn't eat the Cluck. It smelled gruesome though I can't blame him. One of the others ate it

dontknowwhatisbest · 06/04/2023 21:23

I had a feedback survey about the new packaging from Katkin yesterday. From the way it was worded I think they are experiencing an awful lot of negative feedback. There are a lot of unhappy owners on their Facebook page.

Glittertwins · 07/04/2023 14:11

I have an email too. She ate one of the cluck portions but I'll wait a couple more days to see what she does before sending it

Mistymornin · 07/04/2023 15:23

Came on to post about Katkin, thread already open. My cat is 13, has skin allergy and watery eyes. I have had trial plus three further orders. Third order is the new packaging and the consistency is completely different. Before 1/2 of old package filled him up and I am finding 1 new style tray is not enough for him so I have been topping up with better quality soup. I have therefore cancelled KK and on the search again.

blebbleb · 07/04/2023 16:18

Such a shame about the packaging as my cat really loves the old stuff. After all the negative feedback I won't be ordering any of the new stuff. It's too expensive to risk.

Homelykind · 08/04/2023 13:21

Came on to post about the new packs too, and see if anyone else having same issues. Have had them a couple of days now, cat refusing to eat them when first put down, will only go back to it later when he is really hungry. Used to wolf them down immediately. Agree about smell of the cluck smelt horrible, Maybe that’s what is putting them off.

However this morning, I managed to coax him to eat one straight away with the chicken sprinkles on. Will see how it goes, but also have a months worth of food he may not eat properly, and may have to cancel. Such a shame.

CeliaCanth · 08/04/2023 13:47

Glad it’s not just us who are having problems with the new recipes and packaging. The only recipe mine will eat now is Moo. I also find the new trays difficult to open and it’s not particularly easy to get the food out. I wish they’d go back to the “old style”.

blebbleb · 08/04/2023 14:12

The amounts of complaints they've been getting on their Facebook page is unreal. I feel bad for them really but the feedback on how they handle it has been very negative too.

drivinmecrazy · 08/04/2023 14:13

We've had to cancel our subscription after nine months of raving about them.
The new packaging is awful. The texture has completely changed and agree that cluck (the only one they would eat anyway) smells rancid.
I'd completely run out when we got last months delivery so had to defrost a serving. Had done this successfully with the old pouches but the new packaging just split open.
We're so disappointed ☹️

Homelykind · 09/04/2023 13:21

Anyone have any suggestions for similar company/service.
what good will people be swapping to?

Glittertwins · 09/04/2023 15:19

Which other meals have changed? We only have Splash and Cluck.

LaMereDuChat · 09/04/2023 22:23

Beware of Untamed... only the gravy recipes are a complete cat food, though that's in small writing on one part of the site only... very sly. We were feeding our kittens the jelly recipes and wondering why they were hungry / getting podgy. Really annoyed with them.

blebbleb · 09/04/2023 22:31

@Glittertwins they've all changed. The packaging and changed and the way they have cooked them has had to change. The photos on the Facebook page are awful. Watery mush!

Glittertwins · 10/04/2023 06:01

Thanks, we still had alll the original Solash. Maybe I won't run it down to make sure we're okay

TheClitterati · 29/04/2023 10:02

My Kat's didn't mind the change at all. But I hate the new packaging. Much preferred the pouches.

They are going back to offering pouches for cluck, hobble & moo in May so I will be ordering those.

TheClitterati · 29/04/2023 10:02

Cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛😂

Glittertwins · 29/04/2023 11:36

Mine seems to be eating the cluck. I prefer the pouches, even though we had a small leak issue once, as the cat runs a mile from the noise of the tray being opened. She's a bit simple at times!

Whiskeypowers · 29/04/2023 18:32

My very picky fifteen year old cat won’t each the new Katkin even quack or cluck which she loved
She does however seem keen on meowing heads chicken wet food

AltitudeCheck · 15/05/2023 00:16

After a difficult couple of weeks and lots of chicken sprinkles ours have now adapted to the new version of Katkin (and have stopped panicking when the noisy pouches get opened).

It doesn't look or smell as good as the old pouches (as a vegetarian even I admitted they smelt tasty! 😆) they aren't loving it like they did before but I think we'll stick with a little longer.
