I've had a random ad pop up for this, and looking into it I think I'd like to try it. I've put all Sparklingcat's details in and it says the cost of feeding her would be £1.89 a day, and that she would only need 1 pouch a day?

Shes 3kg, skinny with a hyperactive thyroid (which she has tablets for) and about 16. She currently wolfs through 4 pouches a day of 'Felix as Good as it Looks'.

Anyone got any experience? There's a 20% off trial but just not sure.

We feed Katkin too and our cats look (and smell) so much better since we switched! We started it when boy cat was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease and we wanted to cut out chicken/ beef proteins for a while.

We also get the 400kcal pouches as they're the most economical way of feeding it.

His sister turns her nose up at Baa & Moo but everything else is well liked and Oink (which is very greasy) is their favourite.

50% off a trial size box (14) if you sign up with a refer a friend link (also gives me a half price box) 50% Katkin Link

Sparklingcat's pouches are 150 calories. Can I up it if I want-will the price go up if I do?

Yes there is an option to change the pouch size and you can override the suggested size which is based on their age, activity level etc.

The price will go up a bit, but a 28 day box will then last you over two months. You can manually change the delivery date so you don't get the new box until you are ready for it - I haven't found a way to permanently change the frequency though, you have to log in and delay the next delivery after every order.

Hope that makes sense!

I also have a link if anyone else wants to try Katkin

Homelykind · 09/01/2023 12:45

Our cat has been on it for months now. 1 pouch per day.
I noticed his coat was definitely a lot smoother and shinier. His litter box is less smelly. He seems happy on it, apart from the baa one, which he refused to eat.

Whiskeypowers · 09/01/2023 12:48

my three cats absolutely love it especially the Quack one

verdantverdure · 09/01/2023 12:52

Katkin are quite big pouches. Ours has a quarter of a pouch with two tablespoons of water added and then mashed in 4x a day and asking for treats or mobbing me for food if I go for a wee in the night has quite disappeared.

The occasional less solid poo in the litter tray seems to be over too.

I'm still putting dry food down in case of any human delays or night time hungriness but not needing to refill as often.

verdantverdure · 09/01/2023 12:55

This has replaced 4 or 5 85g pouches per day plus two types of treats, weekly sandwich beef abd ir chicken, and reduced dry food consumption. I haven't done the suns but I think we're spending less on a better product.

He still has his thyroid medication on half a LickyLix.

I think you can get smaller pouches if the standard size are a bit big for your cat.

This is a very handy thread! Smile Like Sparkling, I had this ad pop up in Insta and got sucked in. But I'd never heard of the stuff, and have not ever investigated feeding my cat very high meat-content food. Blush He's on Felix As Good As It Looks (a misnomer if there ever was one! or maybe it's a sort of hidden truth, because it looks fairly shit) and will only ever, has only ever, eaten fish varieties. In jelly, there has to be jelly. I'm always aware how little actual meat/fish there is in these cheaper cat foods. I used to give him a Sainsburys own brand pouch that was something like 60% fish content and was dithering about going back to those if they still do them (used to work out at about £1.20 a day plus Iams dry food). But now I'm curious about this.

He's about 11, 4 kg so quite chonky (vet was happy with his weight and doesn't want it to change) but he's often had loose bowels (he poos in the garden somewhere Blush so it's hard to monitor) and stinky. Is on two Felix pouches and a bowl of Iams dry food a day, and begs for Felix treats. He's spending more and more time asleep and seems generally to be 'slowing down' and while his coat is ok, it's starting to betray his age. I'd love to say he's a lovely old fellow and we want the best for him, but he's a bit of a shit (bites me but needy if you know what I mean) but we do still want the best for him in what I assume are his declining years.

Has anyone else managed to find a better initial discount than 20% off? And can you modify what you get? I filled in an online form (so now dooming myself to daily emails Hmm and it's suggested a mix of four flavours, 150 cal a day. But he's only interested in fish and the fish one wasn't one of the 4 selected and I couldn't see a way to manually change that.

It's a pity they can't be posted or I would send you our Quack pouches! DCat really not keen but unfortunately I forgot to remove them from the past two orders. DH and I dread Quack days because of the disgusted looks and mournful flopping about. He finally gives in and eats it at teatime (DCat, not DH that is :)) I think it's character building. __

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2023 08:32

I have upped the calories to 200 (from 150) for the next lot and going to remove Mooo and Oink as she seems to like those the least.
She is now getting through a pouch and a quarter a day which means I might have to bring the next delivery forward.
Got box of Blink to keep in reserve but she doesn’t like it.
The odourless poo is great and her coat is silky. I don’t think she’s continued to put weight on though.

the less poo thing is funny isn't it - its like I've nearly forgotten my 2 poop since they have been on katkin. they are also loving it.

PM me if you want a 50% off trial box

Glittertwins · 14/01/2023 16:36

We changed to Katkin in the summer after seeing a FB ad along with concerns from the vet that she was too underweight. We'd also experienced severe vomiting straight after eating pouches of a well known cat food manufacturer and also that many others had had the same.
Despite eating the full range from the trial pack, she's definitely Splash and Cluck with the odd Bubble & Quack. Cleaned out bowls, no vomit and no eye watering smell from the litter box either. She always chose her moments well to drop those bombs!

AltitudeCheck · 15/01/2023 13:34

@Sparklingbrook and @GlomOfNit

We tweak the weight/ activity level to get the 400kcal pouches as they're the most economical way of feeding it. It arrives frozen and stays frozen until we need it. Once thawed it keeps for several days in the fridge, 7 days unopened and 3 days opened.

The best offer I've come across is 50% off a trial size box (14) if you sign up with a refer a friend link (also gives me a half price box) 50% Link You can also go via topcashback for £4.25 off of an order (I haven't tried that yet so can't vouch that it works)

Really impressed with their customer service, we had a box delayed by the courier so it would have thawed in transit and they sent another free of charge the next day.

AltitudeCheck · 15/01/2023 13:36

Apart from that we've had no other issues with delivery and I was pleased they recalled the thawed box as well so we didn't have that arriving weeks later to worry about either.

Hi @Sparklingbrook did you swap Sparklingcat over gradually from her old food?

How much does it work out per sachet?

Hello! I just swapped straight over, and she ate it straight away. The last delivery was 28 pouches and was £53. Supposed to be one pouch a day but lately she wants a bit more.
We aren't throwing anything away like we were with the Felix, and we were getting through a lot of that!

Horsemad · 18/01/2023 00:13

Thanks, I might look into that. My kittens are each eating 5 x 85g pouches of IAMS wet food a day. They eat everything and are both chunky cattens (8mth old) but am looking to feed a better quality food. 🙂

I have a code if anyone wants to sign up, pm me for the code, as it's my name 😳

cire · 18/01/2023 07:50

I'm using the app so not sure how to pm from it but interested in a code. Will work it out!

AssumingDirectControl · 18/01/2023 07:57

Thre of our four cats have been on this for a year now (the other stubbornly refuses to switch from her preferred Felix). The oldest, coming up to 13 now, was a nightmare to keep weight on and was skinny and ratty looking before Katkin.

She likes it too much and is now on reduced calories due to getting a bit podgy. Her coat and eyes are also much cleaner/better. She looks five years younger.

Glittertwins · 18/01/2023 08:43

I will also have a code so let me know if that's wanted and I'll log onto the website to get the message

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 19/01/2023 16:06

Best thing I ever did for my cats. My oldest cat is the same as yours, hyperthyroid and would eat five packets of Felix or Whiskas. They all have this, and I mix it up with biscuits in the morning (for quickness), this for supper (my oldest has to have Ipakitine in non-renal food) or sometimes it will be Blink! On Friday we have Felix Friday.

Kkma5159 · 18/03/2023 12:16

Just tried the intro offer for my 15YO cat. She wolfed it down like nothing else we have given her, loves the stuff... but it's seriously expensive, likely to cancel the subscription just because of the cost.
