He has an infection now so I suppose once that’s gone he can come home? I have tonsillitis now so I haven’t been today.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/05/2022 15:13

You really are going through it Fluffy. I hope that the infection clears and he can come home and also that you get better soon too.

Has the op meant an improved quality of life?

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2022 15:37

Not really. He has a tracheostomy now, he can’t talk anymore and a feeding tube directly into his stomach but he’s alive.

Id like to see the cat get a bit of his dinner now “I like strawberry fortisip! Give me some”

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/05/2022 15:50

That is not good news. Is it permanent? Or will it be removed? All the best. It sounds difficult for all of you, especially Mr Fluffy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2022 16:09

They say the tracheostomy is permanent. The swallow reflex might heal with time but you just don’t know. He wasn’t expected to live through the operation though so it’s better than it could’ve been.

At least he hasn’t noticed I used to park up near the vets when Bertie had an operation in case he needed his mum but I go home when he has operations.

Defiantlynot41 · 05/05/2022 16:42

Flowers for Fluffy and your DH, that all sounds very difficult. And a massive credit to you that you can see the bright side in such trying circumstances.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2022 17:30

Easy to be brave on the internet though isn’t it? Wink

HouseofHolbein · 05/05/2022 19:19

Sending huge love to you @Fluffycloudland77 💕 thinking of you and Mr Fluffy 💕

Mistressofnone · 05/05/2022 19:31

Thinking of you and DH Fluffy. You both sound like strong people indeed! Flowers

MrO no wonder you know when you're being watched with eyes like that!

Papergirl1968 · 05/05/2022 20:44

I thought MrO meant Ollie was horrified that Paws had stayed over. Then I realised she meant new man! 😘
Hugs to Fluffy and Fluffy 's DH.

Supersimkin2 · 05/05/2022 21:57

Flowers Fluffy, tonsillitis is shit. All you need under the circs. Med up and look after yourself.

Hope DH gets shot of the infection soon. My mate had 4 of those ops where they fit a breathing tube (asthma and legionnaires disease) and everything grew back in the end. She’s got some blood-curdling scars but she eats fine. The stress on you both can’t be amusing, but he’s out of the woods now, tubes and all. 💗

Supersimkin2 · 05/05/2022 21:58

🧀 + 🍰 might do the trick for your poor throat.

Supersimkin2 · 05/05/2022 22:04

Fluffy I’ve pmed you 7 times by mistake. Was meant to be once.

MrOllivander · 05/05/2022 23:12

I've just won a cake box Blush I can't post it unfortunately but I'm sure cake and a cup of tea cures most things

nettie434 · 06/05/2022 09:18

Adding my good wishes for your speedy recovery from tonsillitis, Fluffycloudland77 and for your DH too. It sounds like a major operation. By coincidence, I was talking to a friend the other day whose mum had a huge operation for oesophageal cancer 10 years ago. The doctors weren't sure she'd survive but her mum was adamant she wanted to have it. Her tracheostomy was temporary. I realise your DH might have different problems but hope he can recover as well as possible.

Well done brave Cap'n too!

Congrats on the cake win, Mr Ollivander. I am imagining Ollie and Paws grumbling that chicken and Dreamies would have been a much better prize instead.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/05/2022 09:42

@Fluffycloudland77 is there any chance of Mr Fluffy having a speaking valve?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/05/2022 10:16

@Fluffycloudland77
I'm afraid I can't offer any practical advice, so just adding to the chorus of support & sympathy for your DH (and also your tonsillitis). Hope things look up soon.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/05/2022 10:38

Grumpy said what I'd like to say so well - so I will echo it.

I hope that you have some good support IRL,

Take care.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/05/2022 11:25

@Toddlerteaplease Possibly, they offered him one of those devices you hold on your throat? His vocal chords are paralysed shut at the moment.

I have my niece irl but I’m very independent so it never occurs to me to ask for help and there’s nothing anyone can do unless their a dr or SALT anyway.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/05/2022 14:18

I think I'd like to be a cat when if I grow up.
Basil has been asleep in a patch of sun on the floor for the last hour or so. He then got up, stretched and eased himself into a chair. 30 seconds later he's asleep again.

Supersimkin2 · 06/05/2022 14:52

I can’t cope with these new pms as you can tell, apologies Fluffy. Although tech is not often a strong point, I’ve sent you a coffee via the so-called ‘world wide inter web’.

Look, I know this sounds deranged, but can DH smell anything? If he can, aromatherapy is aksherly proven to help lift mood. And it’s a bit of a substitute for tasting things.

Mind you, in his position I’d be drawing neon A3 posters demanding opioids, but if he wants to give woo a whirl I can get something mixed.

Capn ate a whole pack of those Gourmets with gravy on top he saw on the telly and got the trots.

LostCats · 06/05/2022 18:30

Sorry Supersimkin2 but that made me laugh out loud!
Reminded me of the time I was all proud for getting Boone a Felix soup pouch. He inhaled it and 5 mins later he puked it up down the back of the radiator. So we had to abandon the loft for a few days. Never bought that again 😆

Fluffy, I am so sorry about your DH and your throat. I do hope you both start feeling a bit better soon

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/05/2022 20:30

Thank you. He’s had opiates. He highly recommends morphine. I’m fine I really am. You have no choice in these situations.

maybe Puddy would like cat soup?

Supersimkin2 · 07/05/2022 09:48

Had two mates round and got obsessed with the YouTube of Johnny Depp’s trial.

Capn, ever alert to the possibilities of new ladies, flung himself in front of the screen, rolled, did begging paws, winked and thumped his tail till he got cuddled senseless and snacks. He passed out about midnight pointedly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/05/2022 09:54

Asbo used to sit behind dn & partner after 10pm staring at us because 10pm was bed time.

Puddy goes to bed as soon as dreamies have been given. The days not going to get any better so why stay up?
