Fucking vet cancelled AGAIN cos Covid AGAIN.

Crap excuse. My vets is back to normal, I will even be allowed in to sooth the scared kitties for their MoTs. If they are short staffed because of Covid, then they should be either a) triaging for most serious cases (e.g. Cap'n), b) getting a locum vet in or c) both the above.

Defiantly41 · 14/04/2022 18:57

Go Cap'n! After 8 vet visits in 2 weeks with DCats 1 & 2 I can confirm that our vets at least are working semi-normally (Young vet lets you in with pet, older vet takes pet at the door, but both very nice, very understanding, urgent appointments available on the day albeit odd times)

Only my purse is hurting now Wink

Supersimkin2 · 14/04/2022 19:02

He’s had a chicken breast and now he’s on gourmet soups and goat milk.

All of which are his not Havelock’s. Am feeling slightly better to the point where I am relieved I didn’t scratch the vet. But I m not sorry I hissed. Grin

Looking for a new vet next week.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2022 20:15

Goat milk eh? That’s so 1980’s middle class 😸 we used to have it at school. Parents complained.

nettie434 · 14/04/2022 23:47

Very pleased to read that Cap'n is feeling better and eating again, Supersimkin2. My friend's son used to have goat's milk because it has less lactose. Now he just has oat milk etc. I can't see Cap'n drinking oat milk - maybe a grander alternative like almond milk Grin

My friends said their vets is back to normal. They even went in with their cat for his check up.

I hope clearing up the bird remains was not too bad Papergirl1968.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2022 07:50

Don’t give cap’n ideas, he’ll want milk from the duke of westminsters pedigree herd next.

Papergirl1968 · 15/04/2022 10:54

There wasn't much of poor birdie left, to be honest, Nettie. Sad I did however find some dried up poo under there too. I suspect Miss Socks because Matt is pretty good about using the litter tray, although I did catch him doing a wee in the hall this morning which is not unheard of.

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 11:38

I’m massively proud of Matt, Paper - he is a star and can do no wrong. Seem to have forgotten what he looks like tho - 😀

Capn had tummy trouble all over the flat again in the night. We’re chilling today.

Prince Charles’s pet goat is dropping by to give Capn a drink Fluffy.

Papergirl1968 · 15/04/2022 12:15

Matt is out on pawtrol, Lana, but I'll take a pic later just for you. Smile
He is still as feisty as ever. The dog was trying to play with him last night. Matt was on an office-type chair and all I could see was his paws lashing out, and hear the furious growls. I think he was trying to say "Play with you? As if I'd give you, a mere dog, bottom of the pecking order in my house, the time of day."
And this morning he nipped my elbow to get me out of bed.
Eating my cereal is a challenge because there is often a large tabby head trying to get in the bowl too.I
And he will happily knock my phone or tablet out of my hands because he wants a fuss.
Socks and the dog are very undemanding in comparison.

Papergirl1968 · 15/04/2022 16:41

To Auntie Lana, here is me a sleepsies. It is hard work being chief cat and having to keep my sisters in order. Love from Mattie Boo.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2022 18:24

It’s a full time job being a cat. No time off despite loads of good behaviour.

I’ve been hand feeding dreamies to puddy, you have to accept teeth will meet fingers at some point with puddy bear.

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 19:18

Exquisite!!!! Darling Matt, taking a well-deserved break from his dog-baiting shift.

Sudacrem, Fluffy. How is DH? Is the tube coming out soon? He must be desperate to voice his opinions on every aspect of contemporary life and style by now. Hope he’s not too tired.

Capn chilling with Netflix cos the pigeons have gone to the seaside for Easter.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2022 19:34

Tube still there. I bulk buy A5 writing pads now.

Tescos cheapest. 60p

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 20:11

A5 better than A3, that’s for sure. Or clearview-media.com/gallery/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoq-vweKW9wIVjt_tCh2JzA_YEAAYASACEgL0ofD_BwE

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 22:11

Someone please help - I can’t stop
Him shitting - blood and mucus now. No vet. Awful wheezing.

Anything I can do?

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 22:13

Diarrhoea everywhere - stench is past belief.

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 22:17

I think it’s his meds - steroids and gabapentin. Yikes.

Nevertoomanyfluffies · 15/04/2022 22:28

Sending all mine and my cats love to cap'n. I hope you're able to get some help. Is there any emergency vet available? I've read the thread and seen how rubbish your current vet has been.

HouseofHolbein · 15/04/2022 22:39

Oh god I don’t know is there an emergency service for pets? Mine has an out of hours number for advice

HouseofHolbein · 15/04/2022 22:41

Sorry ridiculously long link. Thinking of you and wishing I was close enough to help 💕

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2022 22:43

Our vets has an out of hours too..what’s he doing now?

Supersimkin2 · 15/04/2022 23:20

He’s stopped. Only had goats milk and his pills today. He looks rough - spiky fur - but he’s breathing ok. Wheezing has stopped after I blew out the candles and opened the doors.

I think the prob is either it’s his pills, or the milk he’s been pinching at Havelock’s. 3 days of diarrhoea tho - it was better this morning until he popped again earlier. Came back from getting newspapers to strew over the floor to find him at it again.

I’ll see what I can do re local vets tomorrow.

All the web stuff suggests it’s not serious - but if his pills have stopped working, and they will at some point, the knock on effects are not great.

Thanks all for your help. Much appreciated.

TheLongRider · 16/04/2022 05:45

Flowers @Supersimkin2

HouseofHolbein · 16/04/2022 06:57

First thing I’ve done this morning when I got up is check in on you @Supersimkin2 💕 wish I could actually help. Fingers crossed you get to speak to or see an actual vet today.

I use the vets at Pets At Home. I’ve found ours to be really helpful and caring plus they are open 7 days a week including bank holidays. They are a franchise. Might be worth considering if you have one locally
