I'll start;

When I get a cat it won't climb on the kitchen surfaces.

Scream at the front door to be let out at 3am, despite the fact we have a perfectly serviceable cat flap in the back door.

@jadew88 - AMAZING

DaffodilDandilion · 17/02/2022 14:56

Our cat wasn’t allowed to sleep in the bed until the first night he came home as a tiny 8 week old and just snuggled up to me all night 😂

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/02/2022 15:02

Where's Syb Grumpy????

Mia184 · 17/02/2022 15:28

No, I did not put my cat up there 😆

get me to open the door, stare for 3 seconds then run back in.
She likes watching outside but doesn't want to go outside.

SisterRuth · 17/02/2022 16:03

When we get a cat, he won't be a dirty, grabby old man...

SisterRuth · 17/02/2022 16:04

Sorry, the photo won't attach! It's probably just as well!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/02/2022 16:43

Dh did the whole it won’t sleep on the bed, he slept on my head some nights.

steppemum · 17/02/2022 16:52

well, not in the spirit of thr thread, but no, my cat does not go on the kitchen counters, and I wouldn't let him on the extractor fan as it really isn't safe, if they try to jump up/down while you are cooking.

I just don't get this.
my cat goes on beds, sofas, windowsills, the piano, but NOT the kitchen counters or the kitchen table or coffee table.

we have had plenty of cats over the years, and the same rules applied

Purpleavocado · 17/02/2022 16:55

Ours just mooches on the sofa or the beds, I think he's too lazy to try jumping on the worktops thankfully.
I think he might have tried it once in our old house, and got shouted at, so he's never tried it since.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/02/2022 16:59

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow

and that is exactly why I did not go for that style of extractor.

I am a complete pushover for all animals, but the children never got away with anything! :o

You’d get on with my mum. My meal choice was eat or don’t eat but she’d open a second choice of cat food if the cats didn’t fancy what she fed them.
indiesearcher · 17/02/2022 18:35

Oh @steppemum do enlighten us with how you keep your cat off your surfaces - seriously!

He did this as a kitten, then grew out of it but since his surgery he's been up to all sorts of tricks again!

My cat never goes on the surfaces when I’m in the room….Wink
CosmicComfort · 17/02/2022 19:22

Dcat was never coming in to our room at night, never mind sleeping on our bed! That was DH, I was never bothered.

I'm like this too. Dd has commented how cat toys can be constantly spread all over the living room floor but she had to always tidy her toys away when finished with them.

Oh *@steppemum* do enlighten us with how you keep your cat off your surfaces - seriously!
since he was a kitten, we have removed him from table and counters, and if he looked like jumping up we stopped him.

We've done that with all our cats.
Some go up when we are not in the room.
But soon as we appear jump down. If they don't they are unceremoniously put on the floor with a firm NO.

It isn't our current cat, as we have always done this with all cats.

They go up in other rooms, bookcases, top of piano, high chest of drawers etc.
But not the kitchen.

TroysMammy · 17/02/2022 19:50

Fling open the living room door to announce his presence, he will close it behind him to keep the warmth in.

NewbieDivergent · 17/02/2022 19:51

..sleep on the bed!!!

Mumdiva99 · 17/02/2022 20:00

....sit on the sink
.....drink from the kitchen tap
Or my personal favourite (but couldn't find the image).....sit on the bread board.

Although I never said those things because I never realised cats were little monkeys....I thought they were well behaved.

I would never presume to second-guess a cat's preferred sleeping place Grin

(Although Primark paper bags are rather popular)
