If you were a cat where would you hide?

Our cat is an indoor one. This morning he didnt come for breakfast and the whole day we haven't seen him.
He has a heart condition and needs meds twice a day. We're searching the house but any tips or hints?

Inside a wardrobe or closet. On top of the fridge, wardrobe, cupboard.

BuanoKubiamVej · 02/01/2022 15:59

Behind the Christmas Tree.

In a gap that is far too small for a cat behind some furniture that definitely can't have a cat behind it

If black, somwhere you looked already and just thought it was dark in there.

Beamur · 02/01/2022 15:59

I lost a cat in the house and found it under the bedcovers but in a little crevice so she was invisible!
Behind the fridge/under kitchen cupboards?

BayesianBlues · 02/01/2022 16:02

He loves his food and we've gone around wafting a tin of tuna and nothing.
I'm really worried that he's not well and gone somewhere quiet and dark. Or he's got out somehow. This is really not like him.

Bottom of wardrobe, behind kitchen appliances... on top of cupboard units or wardrobe?

BlackAndPinkNose · 02/01/2022 16:17

We discovered that our cat can climb the loft ladder when he was halfway up it.

We have also discovered our (stupid white) cat climbing up the chimney.

Hope you find him safe and well.

Shesaysso · 02/01/2022 16:22

Behind the curtains asleep? when did you last see him and has anyone gone outside since you last did? I would be worried he’s snuck out - there’s only so many places they can hide.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 02/01/2022 16:24

Under a radiator.
Under a duvet.
Towel cupboard.
Under a bed.
Handbag.. Ime.

Xmasbaby11 · 02/01/2022 16:25

Under furniture
In cupboards etc
Hiding in plain sight - black cat on dark furniture!
Just look everywhere basically

HP79 · 02/01/2022 16:26

One of ours got jammed down the back of our bed once. He's also fallen behind an oven and gotten stuck under the kitchen units (pull out the kick boards to check), found a hole in the floorboards and gone underneath, squeezed under a gap in the ottoman bed and been under the mattress. Good luck in your search and hope your cat is ok.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 02/01/2022 16:27

Hiding in plain sight?

Under a pillow/duvet/blanket?

I would also be worried she snuck outside...

Once when DDog was poorly she went through cat flap and hid in dark corner of cellar-they do take themselves off when poorly.

Fingers crossed for you!

forlornlorna · 02/01/2022 16:29

Literally in our sofa

Dspx · 02/01/2022 16:30

When my cat was pregnant she found a gap in the corner of our kitchen cabinets where the lights are and used it to get on top of them we couldn't work out for ages how she was getting up there as it seemed impossible so if you have anything high like that you think they couldn't get on top of have a look anyway x

leotardrock · 02/01/2022 16:31

Airing cupboard?

InTheLabyrinth · 02/01/2022 16:33

DC can get in our bed frame, if I leave one of the drawers open -so into the drawer, then out of the back of the drawer into the empty space behind.
Have you tried wafting the tuna (or dreamies) at the door they are most likely to have escaped from?

Theunamedcat · 02/01/2022 16:34

Under the bed in the chest of drawers in the wardrobe

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/01/2022 16:37

Have you found him yet OP? If he isn't feeling well make sure you are checking the small dark spaces as that's where he will gravitate towards.

On a separate note we once lost our cat in the house when she was about 4 months old. Frantically checking behind cupboards and in wardrobes etc. she was balancing, laid on the very top of the kitchen door watching us all...

oohyoudevilyou · 02/01/2022 16:42

Ours creeps into the airing cupboard and has been shut in several times. He always scratches and meows to be let out, but I worry that one day he'll get shut in before we go out and we'll come home to his slow-cooked body.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 02/01/2022 16:43

Behind something hanging on a radiator drying.
Under the Christmas tree
Right under the middle of a bed (in amongst whatever you keep under there)
In amongst a pile of cuddly toys on a kids bed
Up on top of kitchen cabinets
Behind the dishwasher/other appliance
Inside a room where the door's shut to (can push it open to get in but can't get out again)
In a drawer/behind a drawer which was left slightly open

Fleur405 · 02/01/2022 16:48

Under/behind/inside furniture even when you think it’s definitely too small for them to get into. My cat will wedge herself into drawers if they are so much as cracked open, hide in amongst all the stuff under the bed, wedge herself practically flat behind the sofa…sometimes we can’t find her for hours. Hope you find him!

Bettybantz · 02/01/2022 16:52

Mine likes to hide under the bed and has been known to get stuck in the tumble dryer cupboard.

BobbieT1999 · 02/01/2022 16:52

Have you called for her outside?

CrimbleCrumble1 · 02/01/2022 16:53

In a pile of soft toys.

TroysMammy · 02/01/2022 16:56

Laundry basket?
I had a cat who I knew was somewhere in the house. I would call him, look everywhere upstairs, go downstairs look and call him again and he'd be sitting on the top of the stairs. I never knew where he hid.
