If you were a cat where would you hide?

Our cat is an indoor one. This morning he didnt come for breakfast and the whole day we haven't seen him.
He has a heart condition and needs meds twice a day. We're searching the house but any tips or hints?

Under toddler booster seat chair

In ottoman bed

Behind sideboard

Behind curtains

In boxes that are yet to make their way to recycling bin

Under the pillows on a bed, flat as a pancake.

Justkeeppedaling · 02/01/2022 17:04

If you're our cat, on the router. Or somewhere where you can feel the heat from radiator pipes under the floor.

Had this myself recently. After constant searching and much hysteria I found him tucked under a duvet that went to the floor up between the bed and wall. I had looked there many of before and the little rascal did not respond to my desperate pleas even though we normally can't shut him up! I'm praying for you x

Mine hides under the kitchen cupboards behind the kickboards, on window sills behind the curtains, and behind the sofa. I've made it sound like she hides all the time, she does come out!

OliveHenry · 02/01/2022 17:13

In a slightly unzipped suitcase?

MyNewMonstrousHaircut · 02/01/2022 17:13

My indoor cat did this once. I searched absolutely everywhere I could think of, over and over. I started to feel like I was living in the Twilight Zone, I just couldn't understand it. There was no way she could have gone outside or been stolen.

Finally it somehow dawned on me that the only place she could possibly be was behind the fridge or washing machine, even though I couldn't imagine why or how. Turns out she'd wedged herself in an absolutely tiny gap behind the washing machine, and just rested there for a long time (over 2 days). Not even in a comfy position, just wedged there like a little pleb. She wasn't stuck. It was a few weeks after she'd first been re-homed with us and I think she just was traumatized, poor little poppet.

But it was still rather strange, she never did it again, or took any interest in going behind kitchen appliances.

Mine hides in my bedroom cupboard

dancemom · 02/01/2022 18:11

If you haven't located him all day I'd say he's got out

Kabloom · 02/01/2022 18:19

Mine found her way into a closed wardrobe but couldn’t get out. Also loves the top of the trundle bed.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 02/01/2022 18:20

Mine get inside drawers. The squeeze under the cupboards and then climb up over the back of the drawers.

bengalcat · 02/01/2022 18:25

When mine was recovering from surgery with an open superficial wound I found her in the wardrobe but she then gravitated to the boiler cupboard on storage boxes up high

Bamaluz · 02/01/2022 18:29

Use a torch when you are looking in dark places so it will reflect in his eyes, its the only way I can find mine when he's hiding in the wardrobe.

purplecorkheart · 02/01/2022 18:32

Airing cupboard, particularly of you have a hole in the wall for the pipe to go through. Neighbours cat ended up there once. To this day no one knows how she fitted in.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 02/01/2022 18:36

I only have a small house and my cat is locked in when I am not at home. I dont know where she goes...I'm sure its another dimension....but when she hides I cannot find her no matter how hard I look.

SilverHairedCat · 02/01/2022 18:37

Assuming he's not snuck out, I've found my indoor cat behind the mug tree in the kitchen, under various beds, behind doors, behind the TV or sofa, inside boxes etc.

MrMistoffee · 02/01/2022 18:38

Behind or in your kitchen cupboards. Sometimes there's a small gap you can't see inside. Then they can get trapped behind the kickboards. Also actually IN your settee or bed.

Mummapenguin20 · 02/01/2022 18:39

Have you found him

QuestionableMouse · 02/01/2022 18:41

In a drawer or in the bed under the covers is my cat's favourite hiding places!

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 02/01/2022 18:42

In a shopping bag hanging up behind the door (like my Sam used to until the handles broke!)

PickledPeppa · 02/01/2022 18:42

Has he turned up yet?

When mine hid because of illness, he squeezed himself into a small box under the bed.

I hope he turns up soon and sets your mind at ease. Flowers

bonetiredwithtwins · 02/01/2022 18:44

Have you been up in the loft to put the Xmas decorations away? We didn't know one of ours knew how to climb ladders until he got himself locked in the loft 🙈

AlfonsoTheGoat · 02/01/2022 18:49

Any news? I'm rather concerned.

DontKeepTheFaith · 02/01/2022 20:45

Hope he has turned up safe and well. Our cat hides in plain sight and will only emerge when she decides she wants to, normally when I am panicked that she has finally discovered the world beyond our garden!

GMH74 · 02/01/2022 20:50

Ours likes hiding under or behind a big shoe rack which looks like a wooden cabinet
