If you were a cat where would you hide?

Our cat is an indoor one. This morning he didnt come for breakfast and the whole day we haven't seen him.
He has a heart condition and needs meds twice a day. We're searching the house but any tips or hints?

Places we have had to get cats out from

Under wardrobe
Back of walk in wardrobe- hidden under clothes
Underneath kitchen cabinet
Under bed
Chimney
Hidden in bed
Behind long curtains

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2022 21:14

Gap in the kitchen cabinets? One of mine hid there for a week.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2022 21:14

Could he have got out. Mine have a few times. But never went far.

TooMinty · 02/01/2022 21:18

@forlornlorna

Literally in our sofa

This.

Also, up the chimney and inside the duvet cover. And under the dishwasher but that was when he was a skinny little kitten.

Fleur405 · 02/01/2022 21:27

@OliveHenry

In a slightly unzipped suitcase?
Oh yes also this!
Poshjock · 02/01/2022 21:29

Lost mine all day, convinced he must have got out. But he was inside a big fluffy slipper, in a drawer under the bed. He didn’t come out. He was found. The third time we opened the drawer. Only because that time he popped his head up

HerewardTheWoke · 02/01/2022 21:32

Stuck between bed and bedside chest of drawers

If black cat, in basket of dark laundry (preferably clean)

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 02/01/2022 22:41

Any luck?

I suspect he's got out. Our indoor cat escaped back in October and ended up four doors away hiding in someone's wood shed. I ended up borrowing some cheese off the lady who found her and prodding her out with a stick Grin

He'll turn up Smile

That ^^ I have gone to throw a black jumper into the wash basket, only to discover is cat, not jumper And gone to pick up cat to find it's a jumper and not cat. He's like a black shadow ninja
TooMinty · 02/01/2022 22:46

Oh yes, also in next door neighbour's garage then scared the crap out of her the next morning when she went to get in her car to go to work.

PriamFarrl · 02/01/2022 22:46

My black cat is in this picture.
We looked everywhere for her.

Hi do hope you have found your cat safe and well by now, OP.

Yes, realising that your washing has eyes is always a troubling moment

Grin I sat on him once twice and he looked very injured at me "am not CUSHION" Well if you sleep on a black cushion...
BayesianBlues · 03/01/2022 00:47

He's still missing
I've posted on our neighbourhood WhatsApp and Facebook. I'm actually away and directing dh remotely!
This is really not good 😐

BayesianBlues · 03/01/2022 04:30

He's been found!
He had got out and was crying for food at a neighbour's house.

afaloren · 03/01/2022 04:38

Great news OP!

sashh · 03/01/2022 05:06

Glad he is back.

I was going to ask if you'd had a supermarket delivery. Tesco have an actual policy and procedure for hitch hiking cats.

MrsWOLF1 · 03/01/2022 05:09

Glad he is back

Monty27 · 03/01/2022 05:22

How's your relationship with DH right now? Hahahaha sorry but I'd probably throttle him when I got back. (Light-hearted)
All's well that ends well. 🤣👍🏼

BayesianBlues · 03/01/2022 05:33

He's with two teen dds so anyone could have been responsible for cat getting out

Apparently house looks like a war zone as he'd pulled everything out to loo k for the cat so hoping it'll all be sorted by the time I get home.

DontKeepTheFaith · 03/01/2022 06:25

Oh bless, so pleased he has been found🤗🥰🤗

BuanoKubiamVej · 03/01/2022 06:29

So glad he's safe. What an adventure!

Has he been neutered? Cats who are under the control of raging hormones and the allure of a nearby unneutered cat of the opposite sex will escape from any house somehow no matter how careful you are.

BayesianBlues · 03/01/2022 06:44

Yes, he's neutered

Our cat once got into an open drawer in a chest of drawers and fell asleep right at the back. The drawer was shut. He took 24 hours before he started yowling to get out having peed all over the clean sheets in the drawer.

In my old desk there was a drawer the cat could get into from behind, I often opened it to get printer paper and found a cat asleep.
