Oh I should say the previous was Tesco, I've taken out one with animal friends

Insurance is weird. My car insurance wouldn't match my quote which was with them ConfusedHmm so I cancelled the policy, then immediately took out a new one. With the same company, for £300 less

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2021 16:02

£30 a month?!!!!! I wish my pair were that cheap. Mine are £137. Of which Cheddar is £33. Magic and Maia were/are expensive kitties! Next year magic will be self insured.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2021 16:10

"A a random weird Ollie thing" reminds me of when the vet laughed and said that my cats didn't get things normal cats get. It has to be someone weird.

😳😳😳 mine are £18 each per month with Petplan!

Already claimed about 6000 so far with Ivy and her poisoning, random limp, flea allergy and bum infection in the last 4 years so I reckon I'm getting a pretty good deal.

NMC2022 · 24/12/2021 16:14

@Toddlerteaplease the renewal was about £60! This one is actually more cover and less cash

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2021 16:18

@SpookyScarySkeletons to be fair to Tesco. They've had claims of £22k

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/12/2021 16:30

Random weird Ollie thing 😂

Puddys not insured. She’s got no vet history either, I think she went to get spayed and that’s it. She didn’t have jabs until we got her.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/12/2021 16:54

I have a savings fund for Leroy, no point in insuring him because any insurance company would argue the toss that everything is because of his FIV.
Every now and then I warn him that I'll bump him off and go on holiday if he doesn't behave 😁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/12/2021 17:22

We don't insure ours. Had an expensive couple of years recently with Poodlegate and Basil's cystitis, but it's still been much cheaper to 'self insure' for us over the years.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/12/2021 18:29

Leroy

NMC2022 · 24/12/2021 19:54

Yep thankfully he doesn't technically have any "conditions", he just gets weird stuff that the vets go "er, could be a million things" and then he's fine again Angry
He gazed lovingly at the vet (not the usual one) today while she clipped his claws and she said isn't he lovely, he's a very good boy
Ollie < gazed harder at her and slow blinked >

Oh bless his heart!!

I remember taking ivy for her jabs once and while the vet was doing her health check she got up on her back legs and started rubbing her face against her cheek (ivy not the vet). The lovely lady vet had a proper squee moment and asked is she could keep her 😂😂

You're not wrong Fluffy 😁

Yes I think as mine get older and it becomes more expensive we will make a decision about insurance or a savings account. But while they are only 4 and 18 months it's cheap enough to continue.
Supersimkin2 · 24/12/2021 22:49

I can’t get Capn insured and Mr C was an insurance write off from Day 1 - £15 a month saved does knock the inevitable bills down. The other thing you can do round our way is pay the vet every month on DD so you never get a truly horrifying bill.

Human chemists can usually sell you the pills too, cheaper than vet. Our local pharmacy love to serve Capn as long as I keep sending through pix with the prescription.

Defiantly41 · 24/12/2021 23:52

Pretty sure someone on the Premium Bonds thread saves what they would have spent on pet insurance on the PBs instead as a savings plan!

Happy Christmas to all on the litter tray (both two legged and four)

Merry Christmas! Puddy is remarkably perky this morning.

She loves turkey so she’ll be happy later when dh gives her a big plate of it while simultaneously complaining she has too many treats and needs to eat healthily.

Allergictoironing · 25/12/2021 08:47

Merry Christmas/Yule/Saturnalia/whatever mid winter festival you do!

We will be doing very little today, just extra cuddles & treats for the panthers including at least 1 tuna loin for them, and maybe tinned tuna for supper for them. Xmas dinner for me will consist of traditional trimmings - no turkey, just the trimmings Grin.

Papergirl1968 · 25/12/2021 09:10

Merry christmas to cats and their servants 🎄

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 25/12/2021 09:23

Thank you! And may everyone's Christmas be filled with delicious treats and crinkly paper.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 25/12/2021 10:08

Merry Christmas all!

Ivy and Betsy were overjoyed with their gifts from Santa Paws. They both went absolutely mental for their catnip balls and catnip cushions. Like totally mental. Massive pupils, rolling around and salivating all over them, Betsy kept flinging the ball in the air!

They are both totally worn out now from the catnip high.

Wish me luck, I’m going for a corned beef sandwich. Puddys stuffed but deli meat is one of her weaknesses.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 25/12/2021 21:20

A Merry Christmas to one and all!

Am at DD's tomorrow morning, hopefully I will see one or other of her DCats. I need to, having seen all the lovely cat photos on this thread.

Sadly I don't think any potential NMCs live near enough Xmas Sad. I am not on any cat patrol routes.
