Cat is old, never had fleas and I forgot a spot on treatment this year. Realised too late when an adult flea was found and my dd had bites. This was about four weeks ago.

I have : done the spot on, rung the vet, hoovered more, washed the non material things like sofa in washing up liquid, chucked a bean bag, washed and packed up the cushions, and sprayed everything soft like curtains and a chair with spray.
Also combed the cat with not comb.
Stopped this as though all was good and then three fleas on her yesterday. Flea treated her again. Vet no ideas just keep on.
Any other advice? Many thanks.

Stop using Bob Martin on her especially for you're now in danger of overdosing her on it

Noeuf · 14/10/2021 21:48

Yes, sorry. I have some time tomorrow I can maybe ring the vet. I don’t know why they aren’t going, I’ve been really scrupulous.
I know BM is rubbish from peoples responses I just haven’t been able to get to a vet.

Could you not have got Advantage online or from perts at home?

dementedpixie · 14/10/2021 21:53

Pets at home *

Noeuf · 14/10/2021 22:04

God I didn’t even think of online. How stupid of me. Yes I could - why didn’t I think of this? I can do that now. Pets at Home is a different town but I could go at the weekend when dh is here.

I missed treating our cats then noticed bites on my ankles. Tried some pet shop flea spray then had council out but neither worked and they kept coming back. Finally after 2 months indorex for the house worked - it is pretty toxic and always now advantage flea treatment. Good luck I feel for you as it was so infuriating

Earlybird00 · 14/10/2021 22:16

I use viovet online for flea and worm treatments

Noeuf · 14/10/2021 22:38

Thank you, people have said indorex. I can’t believe I’d didn’t remember to try something recommended online. I’ve been working and kid wrangling so just stuck with what I could find before and what we had.
Indorex and advantage online plus call to vet tomorrow. I don’t work Fridays and kids are at school so will have time in the morning. Although I need to ask vet about the overdose as I didn’t even think about that.

Please stop dosing your cat with that over the counter crap. It's as bad as sticking a flea collar on them.

If you're wanting rid of fleas you have to go all in and spend the money it takes. Then every month get a proper treatment and don't miss any doses.

lisaandalan · 15/10/2021 06:58

@ofwarren
Could you please put a picture up of the flea traps from Amazon so I can buy some please thank you.

ofwarren · 15/10/2021 07:02

These are the ones we used. I put one on the top of the stairs where the cats sleep, and one in the bedroom.
The one on the top of the stairs ended up with at least 10 in every morning!

Oh i missed mention of flea traps (bowls of water I read). Did they just help get rid of them or stop them multiplying?

OP posts:
Noeuf · 15/10/2021 07:46

@gamerchick that’s interesting because dh has been saying to get one. We used to have collars with my number when she was young but gave up as she always lost them and I realised they were really irritating for her (she is chipped). Not flea ones just normal ones.

OP posts:
gamerchick · 15/10/2021 07:59

The only good a flea collar does is when you cut it up and stick it in the hoover bag.

Noeuf · 15/10/2021 08:10

Ok, last kid is off in a minute so I’m going to ring the vet. Need to scroll back to see how often to use collar in Hoover as I’ve been washing the container bit out after emptying as I thought that was recommended.

Our cat knocks about with the foxes in next door's garden, the only thing that works and quickly IME is indorex, Amazon have it

KingdomScrolls · 15/10/2021 08:20

Not on the cat, on the house

Noeuf · 15/10/2021 09:14

Fab thank you. I’ve just had a bit of a lightbulb moment - there is a new cat somewhere local plus our cat spends a lot of time in one flowerbed near a lot of cuttings/weeds - usually would be collected but garden bins suspended locally. I’m going to get a green bag and put it all in there for now /try to book a tip run. Green bin is full.
I’ve hoovered and washed the floors tried to comb the cat who escaped but I found two tiny fleas Envy and just about to try vet. If not can get to Pets at Home this morning if I get moving.

Vet has flea treatment and Indorex and open till 6 so am going to get that. No more flea treatment for two weeks and BM is pointless. Am also going to try to wash off last nights if I can get hold of her.

OP posts:
ofwarren · 17/10/2021 14:17

The flea traps are sticky pads. The fleas get attracted by the warm light and jump in and then can't get out. I collected loads using those!

Noeuf · 18/10/2021 11:40

Oh sounds grim Grin we’ve put the £25 can stuff around the house and we’ve booked a vet appointment for end of the month.

OP posts:
Noeuf · 20/10/2021 20:15

Just checked and the indorex 500 ml is £11.99 on Amazon - why £25 at the vet? Is there a different strength?
Cat booked for end of month for treatment so can’t put anything in her til then. Still got bloody fleas. Am hoovering, washing Hoover, soaping furniture, washing bedding.

OP posts:
peridito · 20/10/2021 21:06

I'm pretty sure it'll be the same strength ,probably lists amounts on the can. It'll be the vet bumping the price up !

Why do you have to take the cat to vets for treatment, can't you just buy Advantage on line and treat yourself ? I know the stuff from the vets does worms as well but the flea bit is the same .

Can you see the fleas ? Where are you spotting them?

I do feel for you ,but your house must be gleaming .

dementedpixie · 20/10/2021 21:10

OP can't use any more treatments just now as they have used 3 very close together already.

Unforgettablefire · 20/10/2021 21:24

I’m having the same problem. Have had other people pets in my house and ended up with a flea circus, they’re everywhere but Indorex seems to be helping.
A lot of people are having problems I wonder if it’s because of the resistance to treatment?
I read the other day they’ve evolved and can live in human hair 😧 but fortunately can’t breed in it…
