Lucky black cat appreciation thread

Inspired by the ginger thread I thought I’d start a thread for those lucky enough to be owned by black cats.

I decided to adopt black cats after a rescue seater explained why they don’t let people adopt black cats right before Halloween . It broke my heart that stupid superstitious and cruelty meant many black cats went without homes.

So let’s have em! Share photos of your lucky black cats

My lovely girl, adopted last summer. She’s been an absolute delight! She loves to get behind my slumbering head and push until I’m off the pillow. Then she settles in for a wash and a nap. 😻

Don't be fooled - if you dare to touch that fluffy belly she will attack!

Extra lucky - a panleucopenia survivor. The startlingly intelligent Bibi. I never knew an animal could be so intelligent until I met her, and I'm not biased - I have another cat (an absolute darling but definitely not a feline genius) and grew up with dogs. She's something else.

Here's our Luna. We rescued her in May and she's now 15 months old.
There's never a dull moment here now.

As we're new to owning a black cat this our first Halloween with her.
I have seen posts on social media about keeping black cats in around Halloween. Is this a good idea or unnecessary?
I'm not sure if I want to know what people may do to black cats if they're out.

@Snozzlemaid I would go with better safe than sorry on that one. Some people are looking to kidnap a black cat as a Halloween costume accessory and others...well, as you say, you don't want to know.

Thanks. She doesn't go out much anyway but we'll be careful around the end of the month.

This little fella recently adopted me. His name is Ambrose. He's adored by all the other kitties around, and me, of course

@helpfulperson Nijinsky is definitely trickier to photograph than Balanchine (his littermate [half-]brother) but I enjoy the challenge

What boggles me is the people who say they don’t want to adopt a black cat because they don’t photograph well. If that’s a concern I don’t think you should be allowed a pet brick, frankly…

It's national black cat appreciation day on October 27th.
Here's ours.

Here is our miracle cat Jack ❤️

He was hit by a car in June and had horrendous injuries.

After lots of surgery and cage rest for a couple of months, he’s now back to how he was before. A loving, energetic, goofy, Velcro boy (He follows me around all day) ❤️

You’d never know he’d been so badly injured.

I hope to get a black cat when I adopt later this year. Or a plain white one. Love a minty or licorice. Or one of each. Or a ginge, tabby, tortie...... preferably a black cat though.

Trouble is, by the time I'm ready to adopt (moving house), it'll be Halloween. So I'll have to wait. Perhaps after Bonfire Night, so they're in a safe place they know while all the whizzes and bangs go off. Not that I would let them out, but cats being Houdinis in fur coats, ya know.

I adore my boy. We got him in July and we're hus third home. I'm always telling him how beautiful his face is, how much i live him, how happy i am that we chose him. I don't even mind (too much) when he suts on my head in the night 😍

I’d never cried so much in my life.

People just think they’re just a cat but they are so much more than that. Jack is literally treated like my third child.

I love seeing all of these lovely pictures .. I feel like I’ve found my people 😂

Rolo - considerably blacker than when I adopted her

Here's ours, we only adopted them 2 weeks ago, we still can't properly tell them apart.
There's nothing more peaceful than a sleeping cat, I'm so ghappy we have cats again. Even if they are not allowed outside yet and their poos stink.
