Ok so just out of curiosity and inspiration. We are getting a new kitten in 2 weeks and we have no idea on what to call him.
So thought it be good to start a thread to A) help me with ideas.
B) to help others in the future.

Our old cats names was Rosita.
My mum and dad used to have a 3 cats called Glitter Tinka and a male cat called cat. My mum explained that they couldn’t agree on a name and my dad referred to him as the cat and it just stuck.

The coat colour gene is carried on the X chromosome. That cat looks like it has double X

I love all things Italian so the family got to decide from a pool.of Italian names when we got our kitten a couple of months ago...we went with Lorenzo, or Enzo for short. He is only ever really called Enzo.

Our cat is Peter (named by 7 year old DS after Peter Quill/Starlord from Guardians of the Galaxy).

Growing up I had Danny, Oliver and Misha

I currently have two, both girls. The elder one is Demelza, named after the character in the Poldark novels. She was adopted along with her brother and sister. The boy was named Caligula (my son was studying Classical History at Uni at the time!) and the other girl I called Delilah as it went nicely with the other two names. Sadly I lost Cali and Lila six years ago but thankfully my lovely Zaza is still happy and healthy.

The second girl is Selena. I discovered that there had been a new moon on the day she had been born (the rescue had taken her heavily pregnant mum in) so I named her after Selene, the moon goddess. She is an absolute little cow but I love her anyway! She's now five and a half and only really answers to the sound of the kitty treats tin opening...

Totally agree. That was my first thought. Calico coat=female. OP, you need to confirm this with breeder!
Chunkymenrock · 19/11/2021 19:29

Did you confirm the sex, OP?

DappyApple · 24/11/2021 14:01

Jut realised this was a thread from May, but was also going to question whether that cat was in fact a male. Really unusual to get a male tortoiseshell although not impossible.

We had a long haired female with that same colouring (dilute) and all the tortoiseshell/calico cats we’ve owned or have known have all been female!

@Romemarie did you have it confirmed?
