The occasional well timed Death Stare works pretty well too 😁

Allergictoironing · 06/05/2021 08:02

Our family uses a combination of the LOOK and the VOICE. No need to shout or glare, just look and speak in the very clear and precise voice. Only person I used the VOICE on and it didn't work was my "fan" who exposed himself a couple of months ago, and he was so drunk nothing could have cut through the alcoholic haze!

Supersimkin2 · 06/05/2021 09:03

Capn does a Snack Stare that sends birds falling dead from the sky.

swampytiggaa · 06/05/2021 13:38

Not cat related but my boychild has been offered a painting and decorating apprenticeship today starting on Monday! I’m so very very happy for him!

Just need his girlfriend to get a proper job now (Currently doing seasonal caravan cleaning) then they can get their own place and move out!

Allergictoironing · 06/05/2021 14:24

Congratulations to swampytiggaa's DS!

I've just been offered a phone interview for another job on Monday. Will still do that, as one never knows what can happen to a new job even when you DO have a start date Shock

swampytiggaa · 06/05/2021 15:00

He’s just gone to get his new whites 😊 I expect the cats will sit on them and make them hairy 💕

Supersimkin2 · 06/05/2021 15:07

Allergic that's fab - is there any job in UK you haven't been offered yet?? There's a space for a London mayor apparently, they'll be hassling you about that later I expect. :)

Massive congrats @swampytiggaa - DS will be rich as hell and a trained artisan. You must be so proud of him. Cat hair is a paint effect, surely.

Supersimkin2 · 06/05/2021 15:08

Is your shoulder ok by the way Allergic?

Allergictoironing · 06/05/2021 16:16

Only an interview, not a job offer. And only the third interview this year (first was the job I was doing, 2nd is the one I start on Tuesday) despite hundreds of applications. Everywhere seems to NOT want women with a higher level past career, especially not ones rapidly heading for 60!

Shoulder is great now, been completely discharged by the consultant with comments on how well it has recovered Smile. Boycat in particular is happy about that, as before operation & for a while after I couldn't lift 6kg of panther to cuddle him.

QueenPaw · 06/05/2021 16:25

Ollie is having a relaxing day

That’s lovely. The cats could really spread out then, they’d have room for that 14 story cat tower with rooftop garden and infinity pool they’ve always wanted.
swampytiggaa · 06/05/2021 18:31

@Fluffycloudland77 😂😂 we already have plans for his bedroom just need them to move out now!

coastergirl · 06/05/2021 19:53

Lots of lovely news on here, great to see.

Walter seems to have had a breakthrough. It's raining. Normally he asks repeatedly to go out, then stares at me "I'm not going out in the rain, idiot!" only to do the same again a minute later. Tonight he's looked out through the patio doors and retired straight to the sofa! So proud.

QueenPaw · 06/05/2021 20:13

Ollie has brought me a gift. Who would like to guess what it was?

TheLongRider · 06/05/2021 20:28

Cherry blossom? A leaf.

No, no, don't tell me. Another NMC! Grin

Oh well done Grin

It was a wild guess on TheLongRider's part.

TheLongRider · 06/05/2021 21:25

Ollie's got a secret second family. He's finally decided to let them meet you.

That is great news about the apprenticeship Swampytiggaa. I think you posted some wallpapering he had done for an exam which was amazing.

Good news too about the interview and shoulder Allergic.

Glad Walter now understands the weather, Coastergirl. I'd choose the sofa over the rain any day.

I have just looked up the collective noun for cats, QueenPaw as Not My Cat singular is clearly not very accurate. Apparently it's clowder:

www.reference.com/pets-animals/call-group-cats-3895e0f61626bf4f

NMC obviously still works fine but I've never heard the word clowder before.

QueenPaw · 07/05/2021 01:09

Ollie is fuming. I dropped a milkshake on the floor and it was like his best life ever. His eyes lit up and he dived in head first, it was everywhere
Then I cleaned it up and no more milkshake

Supersimkin2 · 07/05/2021 08:05

Clowder is a lovely old word - did you also know the gathered cats sleep in stacks, layered one on top of the other?

Er @QueenPaw just let us know you haven’t been squashed to death, love.

I’m waiting in for the NHS to come round. The COVID vaccine induced such vigorous digestive reactions that it’s been hailing gallstones down there and my liver’s packed up. Natch denied access to a doctor cos Covid and after a fortnight of no food and a lot of moaning it’s home visit time. The advice online from the NHS made me a lot iller, by the way.

nettie434 · 07/05/2021 09:17

Oh my goodness Supersimkin2. That sounds awful. Hope the GP comes up with something. Is there anything we can do like order something for you?

Supersimkin2 · 07/05/2021 09:23

I am on Amazon now thanks 😊 my GP denied treatment cos Covid. 111 rang them and within 4 minutes a doctor was on the phone Cos Caught Slacking.

It’s worse cos no blood tests or no treatment for one of me chronic ailments for 18 months. Cos Covid.
