DD has several glasses of water on the floor, distributed around the house for her DCat. She has {or had) to warn visitors to be careful not to trip over them.

Does anyone else have a turkey / gammon thief?

3 times over the last week, my normally non outdoors going puss has appeared at the back door with slices of meat. He has never bought anything home before, in the almost 4 years we've had him and his brother.

His brother is the present bringer

I'm sure he did an excellent job of looking cute and hungry.

Perhaps your cat has very grand tastes Claireb7rg? Maybe he only asks the neighbours for turkey and gammon and turns his nose up at inferior meats? He looks very irresistible so I suspect it was a gift, not misappropriation.
