New thread!
I’ve found two so much more hard work (and expensive) than one, Queen

We're doing ok. Plenty of loo roll in the shops and plenty of fresh produce.

No eggs or flour though and certainly no hand sanitizer. DD is at home and Girlcat has been helping with set work. Girlcat also nips DD if she intrudes on her space.

Good luck to all of you self-isolating.

What pisses me off is that a lot of that flour will get binned because they won’t use it.

Allergictoironing · 18/03/2020 17:22

Didn't even look at the soaps etc area, have plenty of everything anyway. Took a while to find the few remaining antihistamines.

Meh, I can get by on what I have (bar bread & milk) for about a month, and have plenty of the most important items - cat food & cat treats. Hopefully thinks will get a little bit more normal for staples once people run out of space to store the 23rd multipack of loo rolls.

Papergirl1968 · 18/03/2020 17:50

I parked outside Tesco Express whole dd ran in and got a few essentials - most importantly cat treat sticks for Miss Socks who dances about on her back paws till she gets one.
The only thing we needed but couldn’t get was handwash but we have plenty of normal soap.

I don't have much fresh fruit and veg - and no deliveries available until the 29th match
I do have disgusting greens powder plus multivitamins so no scurvy yet. I have plenty of everything else including wet and dry cat food!

REPORT FROM THE EYE OF THE STORM
from TLT's petcare correspondent at the scene

Turns out Balham & Clapham are UK epicentre of virus.

Aaargh - GOD how did things go nuclear in 24 hours. It's the opening scene of Chernobyl out there.

Due to local panic buying, I went up Balham Hill for catfood - nothing is open, Sainsbury's looks like a plague of locusts has ripped off the shelves, no food, and no drink or even drink shelves left. Staff all bright green and dazed.

Knackered my PIN on the new M&S self-pay machine the other day and needed it reset in branch - bank shut. Awful.

Got the last 2 tins of salmon Sainsbury's own in London, price has doubled, with coppers at the bottom of my bag.

I have 25p, and a keen interest in cleaning out the kitchen cupboards.

Capn V doesn't like salmon.

This is really, really bad.

ClientQueen · 19/03/2020 16:29

It's awful. Ollies thoughts on the whole matter

God that’s awful Lana. Those of us who didn’t panic buy have been shafted by those who did and the supermarkets should have limited sales rather than start looking at new holiday homes in the Caribbean.

Our co-op was busy at 7am this morning. I’m too stressed to eat anyway.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/03/2020 17:15

Poor DS came home in bits today. Up until now he hasn't given one shiny shit about schools closing, but the reality of it has hit home now.

Leroy is NOT being helpful.

Supersimkin2 · 19/03/2020 18:24

The shelves can't stay empty forever (hopeful). Sorry for your DS Yes.

Supersimkin2 · 19/03/2020 20:04

The shops are boarded up against looting now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/03/2020 20:20

I don’t blame them, it doesn’t take much for society to break down.

Supersimkin2 · 19/03/2020 20:40

I'm really annoyed that those of us behaving sanely are being starved out.

Apparently there was a punchup at 7am outside Balham Sainsbury's when 20-somethings started barging pensioners out of the queue for elderly shoppers' hour.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/03/2020 20:53

Oh that’s awful. I’ve sorted mil out with an online shop.

Supersimkin2 · 19/03/2020 21:16

A fine idea Fluffy.

Waitrose are only going to let in the over 60s when they open from tomorrow am, everyone else gets to line up behind their new teams of terrifying security guards.

Might be the same near MIL - Tell MIL Waitrose guards are bound to be much better quality than Sainsbury's door staff. Maybe even handcrafted.

He's an inspiration to us all! The noble outlook, that firm chin, his refusal to be beaten - the ideal mascot for tough times.

Not to mention the legendary Paws military record of finding food in tough times.

ClientQueen · 19/03/2020 21:48

Yes that is a new scab on his neck. Definitely with the food - I call him raccoon when he's bin diving

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/03/2020 00:30

Guilty of panic buying 🙋🏼‍♀️

6 boxes of Felix As Good As It Looks Doubly Delicious on their way courtesy of Pets@Home (because a certain fine-mouthed-feline turns his nose up at everything else) and 2 bags of litter courtesy of Amazon (because everywhere else has sold out of clumping).

Yep. I panic bought for Leroy. The humans can live off whatever we've got! Priorities an' all that.

Supersimkin2 · 20/03/2020 07:47

Well done Yes.

Thank the stars I went mad on Dreamies prior to this fiasco. You try being woken up by a spherical orange furball who doesn't like fish catfood, is all.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2020 08:26

At least cat food will get eaten. A lot of what’s being bought will end up in landfill. All of a sudden everyone wants flour 🙄

Even the wholewheat pastas gone. No ones going to eat that.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/03/2020 08:32

I agree. I am a fan of wholewheat flour and pasta, brown basmati and dark rye bread. I thought I was safe!

After the crisis is over there should be a swapmeet for cat slaves whose cats are refusing to eat food that has been prepped or panic bought and where the owners still have 200 pouches or cans and puss is on a hunger strike for the one you didn't buy because at the time you visited every fucking store in a 20-mile radius to buy the one you have puss would not eat anything else.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2020 08:49

Even the expensive pastas gone now. I got the last pack of yellow split peas in Tesco for when dh has a chicken dinner I have pease pudding instead of chicken.

I wonder how many will get kidney bean poisoning from not cooking them properly.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 20/03/2020 08:56

Is there a proper way to cook kidney beans?

I thought you just drained, rinsed and lobbed them in. DH isn't dead yet 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2020 09:02

There is with dried ones, you have to rapid boil for a while to kill toxins. It can be really nasty if you don’t.
