Happy Birthday lovely! You share it with my DBro, makes you even more special Grin

Allergictoironing · 23/03/2020 15:28

How on EARTH did she know?

Was binge watching Instinct, decided to make a cuppa. Boycat has just settled onto the back of the sofa, Girlcat has been dead to the world upstairs on my bed for ages. Pause TV, go into kitchen & turn the kettle on. Spied the box of Lik e Lix on the side, thought I'd treat Boycat while his sister wasn't around.

Kettle is now noisily humming away, so get dish out of the cupboard. Get sachet out of the box. Kettle now heading for the boil so quite noisy (this is relevant, means you can't hear very tiny noises). Cut open sachet of Lik e Lix and immediately hear the tell tale "thump" from upstairs that means Girlcat has jumped off the bed - by the time I turn round she's in the kitchen doorway licking her lips.

The kettle was too loud for her to hear the very small noises I was making
Even so, she doesn't appear if I get a bowl or plate out of the same cupboard to feed myself from
There was no time for any smell to get upstairs between me opening the sachet & the thump
I haven't given them any Lik e Lix for a few days, they've been having different treats
Treat time varies from day to day, and isn't every day

So how the FECK did she know I was doing Lik e Lix??? Confused

Happy Birthday Queen

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/03/2020 18:25

Happy Birthday Queen 👸 I hope something nice happened to you today.

Cats are never so asleep they miss their treats.

Supersimkin2 · 23/03/2020 18:53

SuperGirlcat. She's got powers.

Watching the news. How naive can the BBC get? They're saying in horror there's too many people out and about esp on the tube.

Yep - employers are saying Turn Up Or You Don't Get Paid. It is perfectly legal to force your staff into work - it's known as the employment contract. No one runs a business for the laffs, they won't take a profit cut willingly.

The only way to implement social distancing is to take employers' powers away for a week or two, big ask for a Tory cabinet. Big, big ask.

Supersimkin2 · 23/03/2020 19:02

Sorry about that rant Grin

Who else is glad there's no 2-metre rule for the cuddly feline among us?

Matt has an annoying habit of disappearing into the garage for hours. As there is no sound from
In there, I assume he finds a cosy corner to snooze in. Won’t emerge even for Dreamies.
Current favourite cat food is those tiny expensive tins of Gourmet. I open the lid of one and there is instant - and I do mean instant - movement from the garage and he appears from behind a load of boxes.
Cats do indeed sleep with one ear open.

The Cap'n looks like a ginger chrysalis, he'll be a beautiful butterfly someday.

Girlcat was dead to the world upstairs on DD's bed, DH put a spoon into a tub of greek yoghurt and she teleported instantly to the kitchen. She was still doing a sleepy blink when she tucked into the yoghurt.

They just know....

Supersimkin2 · 23/03/2020 20:18

Cap'n is certainly expanding, that's for sure.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/03/2020 22:32

Capn V is at the awkward phase where the spring coats coming in and the winter coats falling out..

Transitional clothing is always hard to pull off.

Ribbonface makes a comeback. Grin

Happy Birthday ClientQueen. Cutting it fine with 20 minutes to spare 🍾🎂. Ollie looks a lot happier than in the vet visit photo! Grin

ClientQueen · 23/03/2020 23:50

He's currently trying to persuade me he is a panther and wants to go play in the dark. I've told him voids can't be seen and to STFU howling at me

Supersimkin2 · 23/03/2020 23:52

He'll have Boris' cops on him if he tries that. Better stay in and keep singing you Happy Birthday.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/03/2020 08:19

Cap'n V. looks like he's been on the plonk (bottom right). :)

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/03/2020 11:01

I've tried to explain to Leroy that he's only having one walk a day so it's best he waits a bit then it won't seem so bad later. He bit my leg. He is not on board. You'd think he'd have got the hang of social distancing, isolation and lockdown better than anyone!

DS came back from the shops with kitchen roll and pasta. I turned a blind eye to the large bag of Skittles I spotted in his bedroom.

TheLongRider · 24/03/2020 11:07

Surely each member of your family can take Leroy out for a walk in turn? Then he'll get more walks and each of you will get your once a day exercise.

Mind you wrangling a cat in a harness may not have been what BoJo intended.Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/03/2020 11:13

Surely each member of your family can take Leroy out for a walk in turn?

You'd think so wouldn't you? But DH & DS are utter wimps who think walking a cat is embarrassing so it's got to the point that Ro gets stressed if it's not me on the other end of his lead. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The only other person who can walk him is my friend's 13yr old daughter. Leroy bloody adores her 😁.

ClientQueen · 24/03/2020 11:21

Ollie has flung himself on the floor dramatically. I'm not quite sure what about Confused possibly the fact it's sunny

TheLongRider · 24/03/2020 11:29

I would be proud to be seen walking Leroy, tell the wimps to woman up and help out!

A pocket full of treats for the cat and a bribe for the humans and they'll both get over themselves.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/03/2020 11:42

You'd think so wouldn't you? But DH & DS are utter wimps who think walking a cat is embarrassing

Maybe this will change when DS realises (assuming he is interested, of course) that it pulls the chicks?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/03/2020 12:21

Unfortunately the chicks round here are my age and above!

Leroy encourages social distancing anyway, he always has done. Not to be a good citizen, he's just an arse who won't hang around if you want to chat to a neighbour 😂

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/03/2020 12:24

And Leroy's not food driven so treats for him don't work!!! I still carry them and he does enjoy them, but he won't do anything he doesn't want to just to get one.

He really is a little shit 😂

DS is easily persuaded with Haribos. Or Nutella.

Supersimkin2 · 24/03/2020 12:25

Can you walk in front of DS with a skittle on a string?

DH and DS could be Ireland's Lockdown Heroes if they overcome their gentlemanly reservations and take ALL the local cats for walk...

Is anyone foreseeing a rise in pet obesity? Capn V is on Breakfast 5. Comfort eating, he says.
