This morning she was coughing and has also had a sloppy bowel accident outside. She wasn't interested in breakfast even though I didn't come down until after 9 and she wasn't about when DH left at 7. He normally feeds her before he goes. I had to put the plate under her nose to get her to come and ear.

Her back legs are a bit wobbly and I will take her for a jab on Monday to hopefully get some relief. She didn't wee over night so that is postiive but when I was comforting her when she was coughing it really hit me that she is very old and isn't my baby anymore Sad.

She has lasted for DD's birthday but I am not sure she will make her own Sad.

I have just put a towel on the sofa for her to sit on, just in case, but she wasn't impressed and has jumped down on to the floor.

My cat is getting to the end of her life and I am not sure I will ever get over it Blush.

She means the world to me, is the only thing in the world that is 100% mine, and I will miss her so much.

Mine kept missing the cat tray for the last 3 years! She'd use the tray but hang her backside over the edge! I got her a lidded tray and she learnt to use it even though blind, but still stuck her bum out through the door!

FabCatsSlave · 15/05/2013 21:37

I am sure you didn't let her down, Horsemad. You did what you thought was best and right.

FabCatsSlave · 15/05/2013 21:39

Grin at bum out the door!

We looked at covered trays but the side was too high we felt for her to step in easily. We just laid a towel on the floor in her room for emergencies. She hated normal trays and it upset her more to try and use and mostly miss so the towel was fine.

Horsemad · 15/05/2013 21:40

Thanks Smile

I can relate to your situation so well. I lost my lovely old cat nearly 18 months ago at the grand old age of 20. She was such a character and, like your fab cat, she was all mine and our paths were just woven together in history - a very special kitten. We used to have rows where she would get stressy and hissy with me and then run off with a tail like a loo brush ( she was a tortoiseshell renown for this type of behaviour!). When the end came and i had to have her put to sleep I stayed with her. Whilst it was one of the most difficult things I have experienced, it was the right thing for us and I am so glad that I did.

You are making the hardest/kindest decision and I wish you strength and sending a big hug.

Lovely FAB, there is a saying I've heard 'better a day too soon, than a day too late'.

I am so, so sorry that you are going through this, but you are doing the right thing.

Much love to you and Mushroom (awesome kitty name :)) I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow xxx

Growlithe · 16/05/2013 06:05

Thinking of you all today. Flowers

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 06:20

You won't be surprised to read that Mushroom is a tortoiseshell too Grin. Beautiful black, brown and white.

Didn't sleep very well and up since 6 so slightly better than yesterday's four am. Such relief when I saw her waiting on the patio. Let her in, mopped up the puddle and watched her walk through the kitchen thinking how can you look so beautiful yet be so ill. Has tucked into her breakfast without the annoying tablets first and is now chilling in the lounge. Kids will get up any minute and then the heartbreak for them really starts. I cried last night and today is going to be unbearable. 9am is coming round far too quickly.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2013 06:37

Thinking of you all.

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 06:43

She is purring like an engine Grin.

How can she if it is time? Confused.

Horsemad · 16/05/2013 07:06

She knows she is loved. Smile

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 07:11

DS1 just gave her a tret stick. DD is impressed she pooed in the loo. DS2 just asked of we will ever see her again when she dies and is now crying. I am crying as sos sad for the children. She has been there their whole lives. She looks so normal. I can't believe it. Worried vet said it is time as we are strugglng to stop her licking and thinks we have had enough. I told him I would put up with the stress forever to have her. I know I am repeating myself. Just so need to do the right thing for her, the kids, me

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 07:12

treat not tret

cozietoesie · 16/05/2013 07:18

Sunny's post above said it. Stay strong, difficult though today is going to be.

Horsemad · 16/05/2013 07:20

Fab, it's a hideous situation Sad

Crying here too as I know how you feel.

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 07:36

Sorry to upset you Horsemad Sad.

DS1 has gone to school. Being strong. Poor lamb.

DD didn't realise they wouldn't see her again. Wants to see the body and be with her when cremated. Had to tell her she can't Sad.

DS2 is only 7 and goes very quickly from tears to tv, piano, tears.

I am just a mess.

Is it the time? Am I doing the right thing>

cozietoesie · 16/05/2013 07:40

You're doing the best and most loving thing. And how much better for her on a spring morning with a purr in her throat.

Horsemad · 16/05/2013 07:43

Don't worry Fab, I'm quite an emotional person; I'm just sorry you are having to experience this.

I have a fridge magnet that says 'Cats leave paw prints on our hearts'

How true this is Smile

I have to go to work now but will be thinking of you. X

FabCatsSlave · 16/05/2013 07:44

Sne got on my side of the sofa when I went for a wee.

I haven't moved her Grin.

cozietoesie · 16/05/2013 07:55
