I am worrying about my cat again [sad].

She just took ages to get half up to then settle down and didn't seem to know what to do with her front right paw. Then after a minute she got down off the sofa and went out of the room.

She is 16. Her kidneys are failing, she has arthritis and has hypoestesias. She is on 4 tablets a day and special food. I am taking her for an extra check up this evening as she wasn't very well at all last week and had lost weight. She looks like she might have lost more Sad.

The vet said we are not at that point yet but part of me worries we are but he doesn't want to say as he knows how potty I am about her. She did play a bit yesterday though and is eating the new food we had to buy her after refusing to eat anything else.

I bought the advent calendar. You can get them for your dog as well Grin. Oh God, she might not live to finish it Sad.

She has left her breakfast, had her meds and treats and is settling down for a sleep as it has been a long day.

I will ring today wibble

She is doing okay!!!!

2 levels are stable and one has gone up but is still okay.

Her injections are helping with the pain so she will have her last one on Saturday and then the vet said he will keep a close eye on her.

SadSad

FABCat has had most of her breakfast and brought it all back up again. DH says not to ring the vet for one time but I am going too as she isn't well.

Vet not concerned and she could have just eaten her breakfast too fast.

She has had a morning nap, just come upstairs to see me, looked a bit wobbly.

I have also discovered she is scared of my steam mop Sad.

Poor old thing. Glad the vet's not worried though.

How's your scratch? Perhaps she just wanted to be sure you were aware of her all day Wink

Jux · 08/12/2011 14:44

I think I'd be scared of a steam mop!

oopslateagain · 08/12/2011 14:52

Ahh just caught up with your thread and FABCat has good test results! Grin

I'd be scared of a steam mop too, if it was five times as big as me...

Hope she keeps her dinner down.

TheOriginalFAB · 08/12/2011 17:40

Scratch still hurting a lot Sad.

She has had tea and not been sick Smile.

DS1 said she looked really ill so I checked and she looked exhausted Sad. I sat and stroked her for ages and her breathing was a bit wheezy but she is half up now and seems okay Smile.

I can't help thinking she has had enough Sad.

What does dh think? He said he'd tell you, didn't he?

TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 08:23

I just went and asked him and he said no, she is fine. She had stopped ripping and biting paper but started again on Thursday so that concerns me. Vet appointment at 9.20 for her last jab and I am seeing her normal vet so I will see what he thinks as he hasn't seen her for 3 weeks.

OP posts:
Jux · 10/12/2011 11:48

How is she?

TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 12:55

Didn't see usual vet Sad.

Offered opium for FABCat Shock. I refused.

She has put weight on Smile and doesn't have any more jabs now for 4 weeks. I am going to monitor her as what they are saying makes no sense.

OP posts:
Jux · 10/12/2011 15:07

What are they saying that makes no sense?

TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 17:08

typed a reply and then there was an error.

The jabs can take up to 3 weeks to work. She had her 3rd one last Saturday and then had 4 days without biting paper. She started biting paper again on Thursday and Friday and looked for some this morning. She had her 4th jab today but I am to ignore any biting between now and Tuesday and then the pain relief should be working.

So, it takes 3 weeks to work, wore off after 4 days and then will take another 3-4 days to kick in again Hmm.

Hello lovely
I've somehow missed this thread, glad pain relief should be working soon.

TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 20:06

Little madam has ripped up more paper and went for me when I went to stroke her!

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 20:53

FABCat is fast asleep, snoring away, with a smile on her face Grin.

OP posts:
Jux · 10/12/2011 21:04

Cumulative I suppose. Perhaps not completely worn off but needs a boost or something, which will reactivate it so it works more quickly than if she were starting from scratch?

There was a vet near the start of this thread wasn't there. Could you pm her?

TheOriginalFAB · 10/12/2011 22:08

I think it was Liz.

She can't have anything else for 4 weeks now other than acupunture or opium/morphine type stuff. I don't think FABCat would like acupuncture.

OP posts:
Onemorning · 11/12/2011 09:00

I can't imagine getting a cat to stay still for acupuncture Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 11/12/2011 09:24

I have now had a think about it and I don't think she would like it. She is really good when having her injections but I am not sure about lots of needles at once.

Over night she has drunk 3 full bowls of water and has had several paper tearing sessions.

OP posts:
Jux · 11/12/2011 13:10

Acupuncture???!!!!!!

Did the vet have that idea? Was he joking? How can you give a cat acupuncture? I can just about imagine doing it to a horse, but a cat?

Opium's quite a tall order, isn't it? I wouldn't be too keen on that, either. They do think she's in pain though, or why opium. Sad

TheOriginalFAB · 11/12/2011 14:17

Yes, the vet's idea but not the vet we usually see. Next time I book FABCat in I will be making doubly sure that we see our normal vet.

I have it in mind that while she is chubby not losing weight she is fine but actually, maybe while the kidney failure seems under control, it will be the pain of the arthritis that will take her from me Sad.
