I am worrying about my cat again [sad].

She just took ages to get half up to then settle down and didn't seem to know what to do with her front right paw. Then after a minute she got down off the sofa and went out of the room.

She is 16. Her kidneys are failing, she has arthritis and has hypoestesias. She is on 4 tablets a day and special food. I am taking her for an extra check up this evening as she wasn't very well at all last week and had lost weight. She looks like she might have lost more Sad.

The vet said we are not at that point yet but part of me worries we are but he doesn't want to say as he knows how potty I am about her. She did play a bit yesterday though and is eating the new food we had to buy her after refusing to eat anything else.

Hope she's OK aftermthe visit today. Did she behave well like she usually does?

TheOriginalFAB · 19/11/2011 18:47

She behaved for the vet....

When I put her toy in with her she went for me and scratched me in 2 places. I then came up in an allergic reaction Confused.

Her weight is stable - yay- and she had her jab and was a good girl. We have to let her rip up paper as the vet thinks it might be theraputic for her.

Hoorah for FABcat's weight! It's sounding pretty good (well, not the allergic reaction obviously)!

Are you OK about whatever the Vet's told you today?

We have LOTS of paper here........

TheOriginalFAB · 19/11/2011 19:13

I think I am okay. I am a little apprehensive that she is on medication that isn't licensed for cats but I trust the vet so I am hopeful it will be fine. He said it would be a week before we see any improvement.

FABCat normally sleeps all day and won't talk to me after a trip to the vet but she has been okay and has eaten her tea. She was really stressed when waiting to go in as there was a dog waiting who was making a lot of noise crying and it upset her. I stroked her and talked to her and she calmed down but was noticeably happier once he has gone.

Poor old thing. Waiting for the vet is horrible for them, and they're stuck in a
little box and can't have a proper stroke from their human either. I can't get my finger, let alone my hand into the cat basket; you must have a different type. What's it like? Is there a link?

If the vet reckons it's OK, then it's OK. Am I right that this was a different vet? If so, you have two who are happy about the treatment.

At the vet, I used to sing to my cats, but it embarrassed dh so I stopped. The 3 we have now have never had the pleasure of my singing to them in vet receptions, for which they would be truly thankful if they knew Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 20/11/2011 09:52

this has a door that opens similar to mine. I can't find mine as it is 17 years old now but it is really big and I can open the door and stroke her.
It was the same vet, just at a different surgery but next week a different vet will give her her injection so I will see if they say anything about it.
She has ripped loads of paper up overnight and hopefully it has helped her.
Never thought to sing to her....Grin

Naughty FABCat! I just came home and saw a little face I recognise peering out from under a car and then she ran across the road and onto our drive! I had to have words Grin.

Blimey! She's gadding about!

TheOriginalFAB · 23/11/2011 12:33

I know! She keeps sitting by the front door but I am not letting her out. Madam is grounded for the week as she just bit me for stroking her so I moved my arm away and she bit it!

Naughty cat tried to bite DH and later raised her paw to DS2 so DH put her on the naughty step and she stayed there after 2 attempts at escaping Grin. She didn't do the full 17 minutes but we think the point was made Hmm. She has just tried to rub against DH but he isn't having any of it Grin.

My cat isn't going anywhere just yet!!

She is one cheeky mare, isn't she? Sneaking off like that; do you think she's developed an interest in boys toms?

Jux · 24/11/2011 00:40

Do you have a tablet or iPad? You can put it flat on the floor and she can play this. Our cats seem to like Cat Fishing best, I think the other games are a bit too exciting for them.

TheOriginalFAB · 24/11/2011 10:51
Shock

She has been done. Cheeky madam came into season when she was months old so I had her sorted out.

No, nothing as new as that. DH has only had a blackberry for a year! Those games look fun!

MadKittenAlienCatcher has learnt a new trick. She clambers up these very high shelves knocking everything for six in the process, including the bag of cat treats dd buys every week and doles out carefully to the three of them. Bag of treats empties itself on way down to the floor. MadKitten becomes very greedy kitten, but is occupied for 5 minutes. I am amused afterwards as the fighting and growling when the other two realise that she's not a biddable youngster any more are hilarious.

TheOriginalFAB · 25/11/2011 17:57

Cats are good value for money! Grin

Jab number 2 for FABCat tomorrow.

New vet this time, wasn't it? How was she? How has she been?

TheOriginalFAB · 27/11/2011 12:18

She was really good and wasn't in a hurry to get back in her carry case Shock. Her weight has been stable for 1 year and she has lost 100g which is fine. I will have her bllod and urine tests done at her fourth jab.

The vet felt she was ripping and biting paper as a play thing so I have bought her some string and got all her toys out to play with.

Jux · 27/11/2011 17:24

Excellent. Sounds like she's doing well. Really pleased

Just found loads of paper....

She is sleeping now.

Confused FABCat peed all over the washing this morning. Why???

OP posts:
Jux · 28/11/2011 15:23

Asserting her dominance over her territory?
Telling you that it needed washing? (was it clean or dirty? - before she washed it, obviously) Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 28/11/2011 17:13

To be fair there had been a washing mountain in the utility room all day and maybe she was fed up but she did it over night so she could have been too lazy to go outside ot just not been able to help it. When I checked on her water at lunch time her 3 bowls were almost empty so I can't help thinking her kidneys are making themselves known that they are in trouble. I will mention it to the vet on Saturday when she has her third jab.

OP posts:
Jux · 28/11/2011 19:20

That's wise. Can you put a small litter tray somewhere close by? Just in case.

TheOriginalFAB · 28/11/2011 19:48

We can do the litter tray. She has had tea and a play with her fluffy toy but is asleep now.

OP posts:
Jux · 28/11/2011 20:21

I thought I'd post this here just for her.....

starlings

I've put it up on chat because it's so fantastic, but didn't want you to miss it because it's so, er, fantastic (and FABcat might like to dream....)
