I am worrying about my cat again [sad].

She just took ages to get half up to then settle down and didn't seem to know what to do with her front right paw. Then after a minute she got down off the sofa and went out of the room.

She is 16. Her kidneys are failing, she has arthritis and has hypoestesias. She is on 4 tablets a day and special food. I am taking her for an extra check up this evening as she wasn't very well at all last week and had lost weight. She looks like she might have lost more Sad.

The vet said we are not at that point yet but part of me worries we are but he doesn't want to say as he knows how potty I am about her. She did play a bit yesterday though and is eating the new food we had to buy her after refusing to eat anything else.

I am in denial that she is ill and might die soon. DH and I were talking about her tonight and I was telling her she was filthy as she had been rolling around in the soil. She is 6 years on from her diagnosis for another problem and tbh I feel like she will be around for ever as she always has been.

I leave with her in 20 minutes. Wish us luck!

Grin

Naughty cat has had me worried about her eating but she has put a bit of weight on and her hydration is fine. I have to restart her on tablets to help with her joint problems but the vet doesn't need to see her for 3 months ShockGrin. He wants me to weigh her weekly as he thinks I worry more than I need to about her eating.

I am so happy!!!!!!!!!

Hey fantastic news!! Such a relief for you, I'm so glad. (Sorry I wasn't around in time to wish you luck; I'd meant to do it last night, but forgot what day it was. Getting confused in my old age - and took my morning pills last night instead of my night ones, which didn't help Grin).

3 months; he must feel pretty confident about her. Now, relax.

TheOriginalFAB · 26/07/2011 16:54

I am trying too but I don't think I will do very well.

Just been to check and SHE HAS EATEN MOST OF HER TEA. Grin

Break open the champagne Grin; here's crystal flute of Bolly, enjoy (slurp)

TheOriginalFAB · 26/07/2011 19:38

I actually have a real bottle of Bolly upstairs that DH gave me for my birthday Grin. I am saving it though and tbh I feel so ill at the moment that drinking is not the best idea. You'd better have one for me Grin.

FabCat is asleep next to me Grin.

Thanks, I did! Well, metaphorically anyway. I wish dh would give me Bolly for my birthday. Sorry you're ill atm, hope you recover soon.

I have to go and feed the bearded dragon now, whilst fending off cats who are very curious and want get in the viv and 'play' with him.

Poor FabCat. This morning she cried in a really pitiful way and then her whole body was jarring and she was sick a little bit. Much more effort compared to what came out. She hadn't eaten her breakfast by the time I got home and has barely touched her tea either. It is very hot today but she has only drunk a small amount from her water bowls.

How is she now?

TheOriginalFAB · 05/08/2011 18:46

This morning she didn't eat much breakfast and had drunk a lot of water. She is asleep now. She is looking tired and old Sad.

SparklyCloud · 05/08/2011 23:26

Aw, its horrid when they get old and we do nothing but worry about them Sad

Jux · 06/08/2011 02:04

I'm sorry she's worrying you. Maybe she'll perk up a bit now the weather's turned? It's good she's drunk a lot.

TheOriginalFAB · 06/08/2011 16:40

I am leaving her for 4 nights next week. I hope she doesn't pine for me or die.Sad

Does she have wet food? My kitty has been V ill and I've moved her from Go-Cat to Whiska's pouches to tempt her to eat/ it also helps re rehydration

TheOriginalFAB · 06/08/2011 16:52

She has wet food and biscuits. She was eating the renal food really well but not won't eat it at all so has renal biscuits at bed time. She refuses normal food sometimes too.

my son still uses the litter tray and i dont think this is a problem. he prefers using the litter tray to using the toilet and this has been the case for at least 2 years.

TheOriginalFAB · 08/08/2011 20:51

Confused.

FabCat is a bit wheezy tonight. She tried to bite DH earlier.

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 15/08/2011 18:35

Naughty FabCat. Left most of her breakfast, refused her tea. She needs to eat Sad.

OP posts:
Jux · 15/08/2011 22:21

Easy to know it's the school holidays, isn't it?

Why did she try to bite him? Was he handling/touching a particular part of her?

She's done the not eating thing before, hasn't she? Then she ate again. Hard to know exactly what the reason might be; all you can do is monitor, and see if there's a pattern.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/08/2011 07:31

I think DH was just stroking her.

She went for me this morning but I was trying to make her take her tablets that she didn't want. When I tried to bring her nearer she collapsed Sad. I have fed her and really broke up her food and she did at least sniff it. She didn't eat any tea at all. I wonder if she is having trouble when the food comes out in one or two pieces. I will check when I go down if she has eaten anything.

OP posts:
Jux · 16/08/2011 18:08

Maybe mash it up a lot, like you might for a baby?

TheOriginalFAB · 16/08/2011 18:35

I have been doing but she has only eaten a little bit. I need to tell dh to mash it up as he gives her breakfast.

FABCat has just been sick and then gone out to eat grass. We have to leave her overnight tomorrow and I am worried about leaving her Sad.
