Advice on neighbours dog…neglected.

Neighbour has lived next door for 2 years. Had this dog for last 14 months.

I’m home all day and never seen him be walked or played with.

Living in outside wooden kennel which is covered in his poo and has hardly any water.

Desperate for attention when I walk by him but shaking on approach.

Thr dog warden is not interested - not her job as it’s not lost or causing a nuisance!

RSPCA say as long as he has shelter and water it’s ok.

He’s been outside all this time during all the heatwaves and winter.

I want to rescue him and give him a home and love and the life he deserves.

What can I do?

Any update OP? Good advice from @CitrusBlossom you really do need to create some peer pressure.

I know it's not your fault and you want to help. However, you are the only person who knows where this dog is and so there is a bit of pressure on you to do something.

I’m hoping @DoodleSquadis working away in the background desperately trying to find a solution to freeing the lovely dog.

I’ve been quietly following this. That sounds like a promising update. Really hope that poor dog is on his way to a happier life very soon.

I was right !
@DoodleSquad💐was too concerned about the dog so I knew she wouldn’t let it rest.
Thank you for updating us.

Hopefully there is progress for this poor dog.
The RSPCA Animal Welfare Act lists the 5 Freedoms
Freedom from hunger and thirst - not fulfilled
Freedom from discomfort- he's in a wire walled enclosure with weeds growing round
Freedom from pain, injury or disease- at the moment he might not have but he could be masking pain. And living in his own shit
Freedom to express normal behaviour - no way is this creature able to express his natural behaviour. This includes the right social company whether that's human or a suitable canine
Freedom from fear and distress- I can only imagine how this dog feels when they approach him.
The RSPCA had their powers changed a while back so they could intervene BEFORE an animal was ill ( they were asking for more donations as they'd need more officers) they wouldn't have to wait till the animal was suffering.

You can scarcely imagine the hell of living in 6x4 on concrete in the relentless heatwave we've had . No water . No protection.

Hopefully now something is being done, the OP is putting herself in danger feeding and watering him. How sad that he doesn't bark . Maybe he's learned that his owners won't listen so no point 😢

I found this thread earlier today. My heart breaks for that poor baby and I can’t stop thinking about it.
if you need someone away from your area to take the dog - I absolutely will. I have a cocker spaniel, my mum owns a pet sitting business and works in a vets. If I can do anything to help at all, please let me know.

A lot of people have already offered to take this dog. If you have space in your life for another dog, please contact your local rescue centre and make a difference.
