Interested in hearing where your dog sleeps and if they sleep in your room / bed where do they go when you go on holiday.

Wherever he likes 🤷‍♀️ this goes for at home and on holiday.

Usually a combination of a dog bed and my bed.

FastFood · 26/11/2025 10:39

In my bed at night, although he may start the night in his own bed next to mine. But invariably, he'll spent some of the night under the duvet with me, he's a very small dog with no much hair so he's easily cold.

On holiday, its the same.

F dog 1- her chosen spot is in the utility room
F dog 2- sleeps next to fdog 1
Mdog- either with them unless one is in season then his crate in the kitchen.
Fdog 3- is supposed to sleep downstairs with the others, however dd sneaks her up to her bed Confused

Mine sleeps on the floor in my room, on the sofa, on his dog bed, on the floor somewhere else - he tends to move around during the night. I'm in a flat and leave my bedroom door ajar so he can come in if he wants. I don't allow him on my bed though, he's massive and it'd disturb me too much.

On holiday (short term let or friends/families house) he's shut out of the living room at night (so he can't sneak up on the sofa!) and I let him sleep on the floor of my room. He's old and arthritic so I book somewhere where I can sleep downstairs with him (room, sofa bed or air mattress). Some short term let places are no dogs in the bedroom, but I let him in mine - I don't let him on the furniture and he's better where I can keep an eye on him (!) and respond to any night-time loo requests. I don't let him upstairs in holiday cottage bedrooms though (back when stair climbing was an option). Hotel rooms he sleeps on his dog bed.

Sofa, her sofa 😂, in the front room, although its a bungalow so she's not far from us. She has a thick double coat so gets hot if she's with us, and takes up too much room!

Astrabees · 26/11/2025 18:17

They sleep on our bed. I put a blanket over the duvet. They are only small - a toy poodle and toy poodle chihuahua cross so don’t take up much room. When they slept in the kitchen they woke up at 6am but on the bed it is 7.30am, much better.

SirChenjins · 26/11/2025 18:20

He starts off in his bed on my side pf tge bed, but at some point he hops on and wake up with a dog between us - it's lovely 😊 He goes to a home boarder rather than kennels if we're not able to take him on holiday with us, and he sleeps on her bed too with her dog. Luckily they're both small dogs!

Spidey66 · 26/11/2025 21:51

me and my husband have separate rooms (we’re both snorers!) and the dog usually sleeps on the bed with me. Unless my snoring gets too much for her too-sometimes I’ve found her asleep in the spare room.

she normally comes on holiday with us. When this hasn’t been possible family look after her. This summer my brother, sil and niece decamped to our house while we were in the US on holiday. (He has adult children from his first marriage living near me so it was an opportunity to see them as well). He totally bonded with my dog and didn’t want to leave her!!!!

They treat it like a child / baby . Its an animal!
Hate needy fuckers

“the thing”?

You sound like a horrible, horrible person.

That poor dog. Hated just for existing.

MangaKanga · 26/11/2025 23:49

Lol. You know she is resentful of the love and affection the pupper gets. Which maybe means she should work on being a bit more loveable, yes?

A 2nd hand Next To Me Crib pushed up against our bed
She used to sleep our the bed but she moves around too much.
In her crib she hopefully feels close to us but not close enough to disturb us, it's working out well

I love this 😂 I wish I had kept my last dc’s next to me!

@HaveANiceFuckingDay I honestly don’t know why you would write that even if you thought it? What response do you expect?

afaloren · 27/11/2025 15:27

At night in his crate usually, but on our bed if for some reason he’s had to go in his crate during the day (this is very rare as DH works from home and I don’t go out much).

In the day he sleeps wherever he likes; usually a big chair in the living room window or a small sofa in the conservatory that we only keep because he likes it.

When we go away we take him with us 99% of the time and he sleeps in his travel crate at night. If he has to stay with DM or PIL he takes his travel crate with him.
