I thought I might as well be the one to start the new thread! Nothing to report but a sleepy puppy over here.

Thanks @Bupster for starting a new one!

Had a lovely walk in the sun today with V and dd (she usually doesn't want to come with us so I was very happy!). But we were out a while, not walking the whole time as we had lots of breaks and a cafe stop and Vinny's nap schedule has gone wrong and he's been asleep since 6pm!! So god knows what will happen tonight. It's like having a baby all over again...

Newuser75 · 05/10/2024 20:09

Can I join? We have a 13 week cavalier.

PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 20:12

Hello.
Thanks for starting a new thread, @Bupster 🙂
We have a snoozing pup here too. She had a walk on the moor again this afternoon so she's a happy little bunny.

Bupster · 05/10/2024 20:21

Nice to meet you @Newuser75. Can we have a pic? my friend has Cavaliers and the puppies are gorgeous 😄

@YorkshireFelix Bill is the same. I left him with some friends as I had to drive for an hour to go to a family party and he hates the car and wouldn't have been allowed to come to the party (in a church hall) anyway. The lovely, lovely friends have two dogs, and one of their friends was over with her puppy, so he's had a whole day with three dogs and four children and no naps and is out cold!

@Newuser75 Oh my gosh, what a little cutie 💗She's adorable!
Is she your first puppy/first Cavalier?

Newuser75 · 05/10/2024 20:30

Her ears are wet from her likit mat!

She isn't our first puppy but is our first cavalier. Housetraining is an ongoing challenge but she really has been a star so far.

PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 20:38

They're all different with the housetraining, aren't they? Some take longer than others, but then you reach a point where it just suddenly seems to click and after that they're fine.

That's right. Hopefully she will get it soon 😂.
What puppy do you have?

PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 20:42

@Newuser75 I've got a gigantic big Pyrenean Mountain Dog pup! She's just turned 6 months so pulling on the lead is my big challenge currently 🙄 You will have that joy still to come with your pup as I presume she may not have finished her vaccines yet...

PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 20:45

Here's a photo of Brie up on the moors yesterday. She's such a sweetheart.

@PyreneanAubrie @Newuser75 Brie could wear your little pup as a hat! 😄Both are such sweethearts x

@Bupster @Newuser75

She's so gentle; she lies flat on her tummy to go face to face with smaller dogs. She does the same thing with our cat, the cat is 12 and is very much the boss in our house 😆

PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 21:10

There's loads of fireworks going off here tonight - it sounds like a very big display somewhere not far away. Thankfully it's not right on top of us, but I'm already dreading Nov 5th 😨

YorkshireFelix · 05/10/2024 21:45

Ugh hope they aren't freaking your lot out too much @PyreneanAubrie!

I'm in Bradford and there's fireworks going off here constantly, which maybe isn't a bad thing as Vinny might be desensitised to it...

Bupster · 05/10/2024 21:47

@PyreneanAubrie so far Bill is utterly unbothered by gunfire on the telly - hoping that means he won’t be too bad with fireworks but I might need to do some desensitising just in case

OP posts:
PyreneanAubrie · 05/10/2024 22:00

@YorkshireFelix @Bupster

Fortunately they're not close enough to bother Brie or Freija tonight. It's hard to know how any of them will react if there's some close by though, isn't it? I hope you're both right about your boys being desensitised...

Our previous pup got really spooked by a rocket type firework that went off right over our garden. But as he got older we found that he preferred to be outside where he could get really Bolshie and bark at them, whereas if he was indoors they seemed to bother him more.

The cats have always been more scared - they really seem to hate loud noises so we've generally put some music on for them on Nov 5th and New Year's Eve. They like a bit of Led Zep or something 😆

hilbil21 · 05/10/2024 22:38

Can I join now it's a new thread? Couldn't keep up with the last one - our puppy is 12 weeks on Wednesday and Thursday will be our first walk. He's a miniature dachshund called Sizzle. My husband works offshore 3 weeks on 3 weeks off and we have a 9 year old who is autistic so although I knew what to expect up to a point, its been quite a shock to the system lol. Wouldn't change it though - I thought long and hard about it and took 10 years to actually go for it!

YorkshireFelix · 05/10/2024 22:45

@hilbil21 welcome! My DH works silly hours 7 days a week between his day job and our business, so totally understand!! My dd is also autistic (she's 10) and it's a lot to juggle. How is he getting on so far? Vinny is 16 weeks now and things got a hell of a lot easier from 14 weeks onwards so hopefully things go the same way for you too.

YorkshireFelix · 05/10/2024 22:46

@Newuser75 Your pup is gorgeous! I love cavaliers!
