I thought I might as well be the one to start the new thread! Nothing to report but a sleepy puppy over here.

I would say things are going as can be expected. He's nibbling with razor sharp teeth, but we are redirecting him with plenty toys.

His toilet training is 80% outside and 20% inside I would say. I'm doing all the things I should be but he can do two pees outside then come back in and about five minutes later do one the size of a 10p piece. I'm hoping that will stop when his bladder gets bigger, but I can't do anymore than I'm already doing - I'm following all the advice!

Sleeping wise he's fine, and he's also "quite" good at being left. I don't go anywhere much but do need to take my son to school and pick him up which means I'm out twice a day for half an hour each time. Sizzle barks at first but calms down and goes to sleep eventually (I have an Alexa show I can drop in and have a look).

So all in all quite positive - but let's see how we get on, on Thursday when he's out in the big wide world.

YorkshireFelix · 05/10/2024 23:05

@hilbil21 sounds like he's doing great! Things really are so much easier when you can walk them. We aren't there with toilet training yet either!

@Newuser75 Your pup is gorgeous! I love cavaliers!

Thank you so much! We love her. She so far has been the easiest, calmest puppy we have had!

Can I join now it's a new thread? Couldn't keep up with the last one - our puppy is 12 weeks on Wednesday and Thursday will be our first walk. He's a miniature dachshund called Sizzle. My husband works offshore 3 weeks on 3 weeks off and we have a 9 year old who is autistic so although I knew what to expect up to a point, its been quite a shock to the system lol. Wouldn't change it though - I thought long and hard about it and took 10 years to actually go for it!

That's an amazing name for a daschund!

PyreneanAubrie · 06/10/2024 10:01

Hi @hilbil21
In complete agreement with Yorkshire Felix; sounds like Sizzle is doing really well. It honesty does get much easier once you can go for lots of tiny walks.

hilbil21 · 06/10/2024 10:02

My husband gets home from the rig on Wednesday and Sizzle's first walk will be Thursday so it's worked in well, not as nerve wracking with both of us Smile

CaptainBeanThief · 07/10/2024 15:24

@Bupster @YorkshireFelix how are you getting on with your pups?

@PyreneanAubrie oi get off here your on the adolescents one hahaha

@hilbil21 We also have a mini dachs called (rather grandiosely) Zeus, my DP named him .😂 Love the name Sizzle! I wanted to call him Schnitzel (Von Krumm) after the dachs in the Hairy Maclary books but I got outvoted. Zeus is 16 weeks old and he's our first puppy - so like you we've found it a bit of a shock.

Zeus is also a biter (I call him Bitey-Mc-BiteFace). He's also becoming a bit of a yapper, which I'm not quite sure how to deal with.

@Newuser75 She is absolutely gorgeous - I love dogs with long ears.

@JessiesHuman I think I could deal with the nibbling and yapping quite easily it's the toileting that I find gets me down a bit. But it's all par for the course I know. Zeus is a fab name!

NippyCrab · 07/10/2024 15:55

Hey can I join too? We have a 19 week old Dalmatian, he's my 7th and he's a wee poppet. We have 3 just now, a six year old, 4 year old and this little man, Fletcher. He has a spot shaped as a heart, I've attached a pic. X

Yes - it is a pain. Zeus had three accident-free days last week and I really thought we'd cracked it. Then over the weekend he had accidents in the house again on both days. Very frustrating!

Thanks for the new thread @Bupster

And welcome to the new joiners!

PyreneanAubrie · 07/10/2024 16:30

Hello @NippyCrab
Awww, what a gorgeous pup ❤

Clearly you're a one breed person like I am 😊

YorkshireFelix · 07/10/2024 16:31

@JessiesHuman I was going to ask how you were getting on after your 3 days. That's so frustrating. I always feel like you go back a step before moving forwards so hopefully it will turn back around again soon 🤞🏻

I was going to reply then I went for a walk with Ze Poopy and I've now forgotten what I was going to say 😆

NippyCrab · 07/10/2024 16:50

Oooh we love a donut bed here, i bought one for my girl but she flounced away in disgust, maybe the pink wasn't the correct shade haha. Fletcher loves it, especially after his dinner, he gives it a little too much love ❤️ 😂
@PyreneanAubrie yes I love my spotties, everything about them just makes me smile. They are so much fun, pains in the arse at times but I'd never change anything about them.

NippyCrab · 07/10/2024 16:51

Ah is there an adolescent/junior thread too? How fab and why have I not come across these 🤔😂

CaptainBeanThief · 07/10/2024 17:06

@NippyCrab get your arse over there, I'm not sure how to link it tho ?

No. Mine is still a baby dog! A teeny, weeny 35kg baby dog🐶

I'm sure @Bupster 's baby doglet is older than mine...and yours definitely is and you're here.... so 😛

Newuser75 · 07/10/2024 17:33

@JessiesHuman ah, yours is so cute!

Little sweetheart ❤️

Bupster · 07/10/2024 19:50

My chonk is 18 kilos and five months old 😄
I got him a giant donut bed from Paws Trading - they were selling XXL for about £50 so I grabbed one - and he adores it. One time I came home and both him and the sitter were in it with room to spare 😄
