@AnnieSnap Are you referring to the car? If so, getting there.

By chance, a dog behaviourist and ex-guide dog trainer was free so came over. It was like a Dog Behaving Badly masterclass. At first RiverPup wouldn’t go anywhere near the car, but by rewarding him when he looked at the car, then walking him nearer, then putting treats in the car, he eventually got RiverPup upon the boot. It was done in short sessions, with breaks in between (potted summary). I’ve practised since, and RiverPup has now remembered he’s a food obsessed lab, and eagerly searched the car for treats - full sniffer dog mode. He even jumped in the back willingly. We’re not quite there yet - next stage shutting tailgate door, but the difference is amazing.

Happy birthday Riverpup!🍦 and well done on the car! I mostly avoid using it, and when we do have to just put poor unluckypup in it, where she looks miserable but doesn't otherwise complain. Was really hoping she'd just grow out of her dislike, but maybe I ought to be training her.

FluffyPup is 9 months' old today. Definitely has dickhead tendencies at times, but is also lovely most of the time.

We have no inclination to train him to walk strictly at heel. Sniffing stimulates their brains and is really good for them to do. I often let him decide where we're walking depending on what he can smell (basically we go where his nose takes us!). Walks are for them, after all!

Has anyone got a cooling mat? I purchased one last week. At first, thought it was going to be a disaster as RiverPup tried to chew it! However, got it out today and he’s laid on it a couple of times.

Older pup isn't a fan of cooling mats, currently 28 degrees and she's like this!

@Riverlee we have tiled floors, so Florapup always has a cool place to lie. I have thought the same when people have suggested those little mats where we can put treats in. She would just eat the treats, then the mat 😂🤣

@AnnieSnap The first lick I at got destroyed pretty quickly.

The second one was ciponsidered to be ‘a tough mat’. Part of it has been chewed also.

Poor wee Fluffpup got stung tonight. Bless her, she looked like she'd gone 10 rounds with a cat with a mean left hook. Kept an eye on her and she's ok. Swelling has gone now and she's back to not knowing whether to sit like a baby or a dog.

Oh no, poor FluffPup. I'm glad all seems well today.

It's only a matter of time before FluffyPup gets stung as he's always trying to get bees in the garden. 🤦‍♀️ We've bought Piriton for the medicine cupboard to keep for him for when the inevitable happens!

Here's an article on it, @AnnieSnap. Obviously it has the usual caveats about consulting a vet first, but I'm happy to give it to FluffyPup if he gets stung.

RiverPup chases flies. Quite amusing to watch. Also, any beetle crawling across the floor is fair game to RiverPup.

She's absolutely fine. It's her second time - the first time I was in bits and phoned the emergency vet so more relaxed this time. I might grab a bottle of piriton though, I just usually have the tablets. She loves a spot of hedge diving so it's going to happen again.
She loves tracking ants and batting at beetles too. Petrified of slugs & snails though! I went out last night with a head torch, scissors and a strong stomach to do a slug cull and she was most perturbed.

FluffyPup loves snails. He gets them and throws them up in the air, batting them about! It's really the shell he wants; empty shells are favourite. He does remove the snail from the shell at times. 🤢

It's good if they avoid them due to risk of lungworm from eating them. I buy a wormer which deals with lungworm as well as the more standard ones.

He's also started jumping up at flies at the front window to try to catch them. It's very annoying! 🙄

Be careful @NoWordForFluffy dogs can get Lungworm from snails, slugs and frogs 😳

Well we’re having an awful storm here (NW England/Welsh border), it hasn’t stopped thundering for nearly an hour now. Greenpup? Fast asleep on the floor without a care in the world 😀

@AnnieSnap, I know, and use an appropriate wormer for that.

We're near you, @Greengreented, and it's on its way. Pitch black and spitting for now, very ominous out there.

I am now, I got back recently. DH has popped to Aldi and the thunder is in the distance! I'm sure he'll get back in time though as it's not far!
