The other thread is full and I can’t see a new one! Hope it’s OK to start one. I’m actually barely surviving puppyhood, actually teenagerhood, this week 🤬😡😭.

Mine is 1 tomorrow... I bought her a baby deer leg as a present... it's got fur and a hoof on it!! I hope it doesn't stink too bad!

@tizwozliz ah a birthday buddy! What breed is he? I shall try to get a photo of mine with her deer leg at some point! She's a bit grumpy at mo as she's been in the wars lately, groomer somehow caught inbetween her paw pads so that's been bothering her and she then grazed inside her ear on a thorn in the undergrowth the other day!

@Aria20 Billy will be jealous, he always licks the deer legs at the pet shop but I can’t bring myself to buy them!

@tizwozliz oh my god you've made me all puppy broody with that photo! My black lab pup is 5 weeks today, can't wait to bring him home and never have a decent piece of furniture unchewed again

@hashbrownsandwich you might get lucky, our spaniel loves a chomp but as he has eleventy billion pieces of dead animal or chew toy he's left the furniture alone!

We've only had a few nibbles on furniture, cushions didn't fare quite as well.

Have you picked a name @hashbrownsandwich ?

@tizwozliz absolutely no inspiration at all. We've toyed with Rex, Billy, Buddy, Dexter, Dylan but nothing seems to suit. Every other dog (and child) I've had I have taken one look and just 'known' their names. Not had that epiphany yet! So any suggestions from anyone most welcome!

Does anyone know why some of the natural chews are for pups older than 6 months? I bought a venison filled trachea today thinking that ChenPup would love it, but he’s 5 months and 1 week - would it be ok to give it to him, do you think?

@Aria20 - Ada's friend with the birthday is another black lab. She inherited his collars and harnesses. This is her friend on the left and Ada on the right wearing the same harness when they were each around 10 weeks. He's 37kg!!! now

I once sponsored an Orca called Nigel, all the other whales had names like wave dancer and sun beam and I was worried no one would sponsor poor old Nigel.

I know a black lab called Cole Porter. A girl, bafflingly enough.

We had a huge list of names and kept going back and forth over them. DD wanted some sort of Marvel pun such as Bucky Barks or Nick Furry, DS wanted a more cute name like Benny and I just wanted something that wasn’t too embarrassing to say at the vets! We went with Rocky in the end at DS’s suggestion. Not sure why, but it suits him and can’t see him as anything else now.

We haven’t had any furniture chewed either, but he’s had a nibble on the corners of the hearth. Will sand and paint again once he’s being less of a Wally! 😂 Oh, he did destroy a wicker storage chest but I sacrificed it so that he wouldn’t chew the other bits of furniture.

Met a German shepherd called Gary by the river today I had a chuckle when I heard his owner shouting no Gary!

Hi All can I join with my whippet pup?

He was born September the 28th. I've always rehomed dogs so he is my first puppy since I was a kid.

I'm rapidly going grey 😂

My family is bilingual so we had to choose a name that would work in both languages. I had a whole list of names that I really liked but wouldn't work in the other language. In the end DH chose the pup's name and I think it suits him.

Lately he has taken to grabbing a slipper or a sock and inviting us to chase him through the house. I don't want to encourage that behaviour but secretly I think it is adorable. He doesn't actually chew the items and he will drop them when asked. But there is something so cute about the way he races to us to show his plunder, then races away with a "catch me if you can" look in his eyes.

Beautiful whippet! Getting a puppy is like dropping a nuclear bomb in your living room, when you've only had older dogs in recent memory

Catching up with all the news and solidarity to everyone braving puppy classes.

We started KC Bronze a few weeks ago, first week stretchpup was fab, he really listened and did all the exercises. Last week it was like he was on steroids, he jumped, pulled, yapped, spun in circles, it was so stressful! It was like ritual humiliation, with the trainer saying ‘you must practice at home!’

I do!! Every day we do lots of training and in the park I’m the nutter with all the high value treats calling him back and doing games instead of chatting and letting my puppy jump on people and run around with all the other poodle mixes (so many oodles!)

And the mud! So so muddy still in lots of parks. I washed and brushed him last week and he was lovely for the evening (took a hour) first thing the next day, he literally jump in a bog, the stinkiest smelliest mud ever…I could have cried.

I do love him though, despite the humiliation, smell and cost, he is so lovely (picture as evidence) he’s just over 5 months now and has doubled in size. We are all mad aren’t we….

Thinking of taking sandwichpup (George, named after my Grandad), back to puppy training, he seems to have forgotten everything he learnt. His recall is embarrassingly awful, he ran off after a greyhound on a lead the other day and wouldn't come back. I was running round the park after him trying to get him back while the greyhound owner was shouting at me

Been reading everyone's post can't wait to join in with my little Hank I'm sure I will have my hands full with him 😅💙

@Stretchandsnap - I feel your pain! Freddy has been a nightmare at his puppy classes, it’s like he’s on some kind of illegal stimulant. Doesn’t help when the other dogs are glued to their owners and doing everything that’s asked of them first time while yours is the ‘spirited’ bad boy of the class! Solidarity.

The DC and I went to our first puppy class yesterday (without the dog as his 2nd vax isn’t until Wednesday) and I was very pleased to see two other equally as crazy puppies so hopefully we won’t embarrass ourselves too much when we properly start…….

Currently entertaining himself by ripping up an Amazon box!
