The other thread is full and I can’t see a new one! Hope it’s OK to start one. I’m actually barely surviving puppyhood, actually teenagerhood, this week 🤬😡😭.

@Autumn101

Some beautiful pictures of all those lovely dogs!

The DC and I went to our first puppy class yesterday (without the dog as his 2nd vax isn’t until Wednesday) and I was very pleased to see two other equally as crazy puppies so hopefully we won’t embarrass ourselves too much when we properly start…….

Currently entertaining himself by ripping up an Amazon box!

Thanks everyone 🥰 @Autumn101 what breed is your lovely puppy? x
ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 13/02/2022 19:44

The puppy has been chucking an ice-cube around the kitchen for ten minutes and is aparently having the time of her three-month-long life.

Autumn101 · 13/02/2022 20:04

Ice cubes are a huge hit here too! Lots of fun skidding them around the kitchen floor

Looney - he’s a Springer, totally crazy but absolutely gorgeous

I thought he was he's gorgeous! My little Hank is a sprocker he is going to be wild 🤣 x
certainshepherdpups · 13/02/2022 20:53

@Autumn101 he's gorgeous! I've always had herding breeds (current pup is an Australian Shepherd) but I would love to have a springer someday.

GuyFawkesDay · 13/02/2022 21:13

@looneylou201 what a gorgeous pup!!!

FawkesPup has loved the wild weather this weekend. He's been wet and muddy at least twice a day. Total grotbag. It's a good job he's cute!! He's been very sweet cuddling up with second covidy child in the household too. They know when their family are not right, don't they?! He's been really gentle with her.

I've been sucked into more dog soap manufacturing. I mean it's basically baking which doesn't make my bum bigger so I'm happy!

Blahblahblah40 · 14/02/2022 12:40

Aww @Autumn101 so lovely 🥰

Cocker spaniel here. Driving me around the bend with his over-excited nature. Neighbour has a cocker pup 2 weeks younger and it looks the most chilled out little thing. Trotting along beside her as they walk while mine is running around and chewing his lead etc. Puppy classes getting booked asap!!

Blahpup went to a dog-friendly cafe this weekend. He did brilliantly, sniffed around under the table most of the time except when people came over to tell him how cute he was 😂. His Bad experience for this weekend was an in-season bitch (off the lead in a busy dog area I may add) who ran over to sniff, Blahpup did so well and just nose to nose, then she snapped at him. He got a fright and I wasn’t very happy at owner but what can you do.

Blahblahblah40 · 14/02/2022 12:43

If only they were like this all the time…

Been trying to patch a bit of the fence out the back with fencing wire. In the rain. With a collie puppy jumping excitedly on my head.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 14/02/2022 13:07

Blah your pup has beautiful markings

Autumn101 · 14/02/2022 13:21

Blah he is just beautiful! Hope you get some easier walks soon

My sister brought round her friends 4 year old today, I was worried about how pup would be as he’s very jumpy and nippy at times but he was amazing. Didn’t jump at her once, ate treats and happily ran around in the garden with her. He’s been a little so and so ever since but I was very proud!!

This will be me next weekend… oh joys!
Blahblahblah40 · 14/02/2022 13:54

Thank you everyone. He is a lovely boy. markings look like a Dalmatian on his tummy!

@Autumn101 gosh that is good. Blahpup is an absolute maniac when playing with other dogs. Jumping and biting etc as he would have with his siblings. I’m just letting him get past the 3 month mark before tackling it. Read something the other day about brain development and how we can expect too much too early… that’s what I’m telling myself anyway 😂

LilliPuttLane · 14/02/2022 18:08

Aww so many cute puppies Halo
Still struggling with doing nice walking with our spaniel, but she is perfect round the house and garden Blush we will get there.

Had a horrible walk today with a lady who’s snarling collie off lead (mine on lead!) wouldn’t leave us alone, she kept saying leave it to her dog and I was quite scared as it had its back up and everything. I think on this occasion I’d rather she said don’t worry it’s friendly although it clearly wasn’t. Trying to not to let dpup know how worried I was.
I don’t think it bothered her as she saw a few other dogs without issue.

Tomorrow is a new day as they say!

Handsfullofholes · 15/02/2022 10:43

Embarrassment at puppy class last night. We were pretty much the only couple who said our pup went off lead regularly in the park and had (fairly…) reliable recall. Get to the recall with distractions exercise and he recalled perfectly. Then, I asked him to sit to put his lead back on, he thought that was a boring idea and ran off to his friend, setting all of the dogs off barking Grin. He did come back as soon as I called the second time but it was completely mortifying Blush.

tizwozliz · 15/02/2022 10:49

Not sure whether we've just been to fairly relaxed classes with lots of excitable pups but the above sounds like an entirely normal occurrence. At least one pup will decide it's more fun to run off to play, fetch someone else's dummy etc. every class.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 15/02/2022 11:28

The dog has sussed out that the tiny patch of garden where I stand, underneath the ivy, is completely bone dry even on foul rainy days like this. So now, when I force her outside to wee, she wriggles in behind me in the dry spot and nudges me out into the rain.Hmm

I can't find a local puppy class that doesn't clash with my work, and reading this thread, I'm almost relieved!Grin

Aria20 · 15/02/2022 12:09

@ABitBesottedWithMyDog so funny, mine does the same and just stands behind me looking at me until I give up and take her back in - she has to be really desperate to go toilet in rain!

SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 12:18

ChenPup is the same in the rain - he has to be nudged out and even then will sit by the conservatory door looking through the glass at eye in horror as if to say ‘how could you make me go out in this’. The other night he decided that it was raining too much so did a wee and multiple poos on the landing instead - he was not popular!

He’s out with a dog walker for the first time today - I felt like I was leaving one of the DCs at nursery on their first day! I’m sure he’ll have a blast though, and hopefully his exuberance (that’s how I’m reframing it…) won’t put the walker or the other dogs off him 🤞

certainshepherdpups · 15/02/2022 14:53

I wonder why the previous post has been hidden. Is someone spamming the puppy survival thread? 😂

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 15/02/2022 15:10

Probably something foul, strange and unnatural, like a cat photo.Wink

567and · 15/02/2022 17:50

Final puppy class for us this evening, thank goodness! Last week wasn’t too bad, although still not anywhere near as well behaved as the other dogs! They are talking about bronze class and assured me he wouldn’t be kicked out, so may be I’ll have a couple of weeks break and think about the next step.

Mine couldn’t give two hoots if he gets wet when I send him out for a wee! Drying robe has been bought at long last, now just need something to dry his paws off well as the microfibres towel doesn’t seem to be doing the trick. Might have to make some kind of socks to stop the wet paw prints through the house! 😂

@ABitBesottedWithMyDog we haven’t really done anything at puppy class that we weren’t already doing at home with him from watching YouTube videos. Standard things like sit, lie down, up, wait, stay, puppy recall when on a lead, going through a door/gate and waiting until given permission to go, leave it etc. Just all done in a more stressful environment rather than the comfort of my own home!

LadyCatStark · 15/02/2022 19:00

Welcome to all the new pups!

The hidden post is probably trying to sell something. Seems a strange thread to spam 😂.

Billy has had such a busy day visiting a new park and then going to the beach with his ‘aunties’ (my mum’s cocker spaniels). One of them has been snappy with him previously and as soon as he spotted her, he wouldn’t go anywhere near her. He must have a good memory as he hasn’t seen them since November! He’s completely buckled now, but at 4pm he still told me it was time for our walk 🙄.

Back to off lead adventures today. Sticking to quieter places/times (the rain helps with that!) and not fraternizing for another week or so. She slept a good 2 hours after I got back
