Can we have a mongrel thread?? A proper mixed ddog?? Not a make believe new fangled 'breed' created to get a bit of this and a bit of that!!
I want to see MONGRELS!!
Like back in the day when you could never figure how what you actually owned!! Obviously no random caught in a garden mixes now but there must be some tatty unknown Smelly Bills out there!!
I actually have a ddog that is 3 breeds and the breeder was quite specific in her description.. But surely 3 breeds =mongrel right?

We have a red Heinz. Her DNA test came back with husky, collie, greyhound and malamute. The other one is a blonde Romanian street dog, so I've no idea what she is.

Every day - literally daily - we get asked what they both are.

Part wolf to me!! 2 lovely ddogs you have!! We have a Husky. A very quiet one!! She is rather odd!!

Not a clue, no real guesses either, other than I think a fair bit of herding or livestock guardian in there somewhere. The rescue thought retriever cross, but I think they were blinded by his colour... which isn’t a lab coat in texture or actually in colour if you look close up and by his ears which were still totally down.

But he’s definitely a proper mongrel, I’m pretty sure every bit of him is from a different dog, lol

This is my marvellous mongrel. He was rescued in Ireland and brought to England. His DNA test came back with 50% Border Collie, which figures. He is smaller than a Collie and obviously isn’t black and white, nor long haired, but he is obsessed with his tennis balls and his body language is very Collie when he is waiting for his ball to be thrown.

The other 50% is a mix of multiple breeds including Corgi, Jack Russell and Bichon Frise plus many others.

I have two dogs which are lurchers on account of obviously having some sighthound in them somewhere. But what that is, and what all the other bits are, who knows. Just like almost all lurchers. One of mine has a healthy dose of saluki and greyhound. The other is much more mixed, and I have met his mum (he was born in rescue) and she is whippety/ bull breed/assorted other things. He though, looks like a doberman in blue/fawn. We spend an awful lot of time explaining this

Lurchers are the closest to a mongrel we have. And I absolutely adore them!!

NDN's street mongrel (the sandy coloured one) who attached herself to NDN's family while they were on holiday in Greece, and they ended up bringing her back with them (at ridiculous expense ). She's gorgeous (and mad as a box of frogs).

This derp is part beagle, part something. Rottweiler and Bernese Mountain dog have both been mentioned.

We lost our rotty last year. Similarities def there!!

This is our Holly, she's 8 years old. She was advertised as a collie, free to a good home on Gumtree. We already had a full-sized collie. Before we left to see her, the lady asked that we take her away with us that evening.

When we arrived we discovered that she's only little - about the size of a spaniel and half the weight of our actual collie. She's come from a local chap who breeds his staffy/whippet mongrelly bitch with a collie cross every year. We've come across some of her siblings, one of whom looks identical to her.

She's doll, we've had her for 7 years and she's very different in talents and attitude to a collie but we do love her.

One Mongrel. Rescued from Dogs Trust nearly 10 years ago now and starting to show her age. She is my everything.
My guess...part JRT (face shape, wire haired & temperament), part collie (size, tail) maybe some Staffie (wide chest), part rough Lurcher (the others rescued with her). Want to do her DNA but worried it will be 99% unknown / mixed

I love mutts , generally speaking I think they are much healthier and tougher hounds.

The dog I grew up with def had some GSD and some sort of sight hound she had GSD markings big ears but a small lean frame , lots of people thought she was a GSD pup about two weeks before she was pts due to cancer at the ripe age of almost 18 years old someone asked me how old my puppy was , I said 18 years old , they were absolutely adamant that they knew best and the digs home that I got her from were wrong about her age .
I got her when she was about a year old ! So yup , she is 18 yrs old ( ish )

The lab x god knows what , we think some sort of bull breed , looked v much like a lab from a distance but up close he had a huge chest and wide mouth and as strong as a ox but very good natured , again he lived to about 17 , but we have know idea how old he was when we got him , he was full grown but acted very puppy like but he was still doing that when we had owned him for 10 years !

I have a friend that has a ( we think ) Doberman, Rottie and GSD . very much Rottie/ dobbie drinking and big but with a fluffy GSD tail . She is still going strong at 12 yrs old .

These are my 2 mongrels.
Little one is part Jack Russell but not sure what else.
Big one is a Romanian rescue. We tried to get him DNA tested but he ate the swab when we tried to put it in his mouth 😂
