What breed would you say my puppy is?

Got my gorgeous little pup recently, he's a lovely little boy 😍

Friends and family however, have said that he doesn't look like the breed he is, just wondering what you'd presume him to be on first look?

German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) are Alsatians. Exactly the same breed.

Hi OP, he looks just like a puppy I fostered for a while. Exactly the same markings, head shape etc. Also told he was a collie. He was Collie x Lurcher as we later found out (so still a lurcher). You’re very lucky if that’s what he is as lurchers are the best

When you say collie? Do you mean actual collie supposedly with a pedigree?

Or a puppy from a dog that’s mostly collie?

Exactly my point, I'm not so sure he's a collie either. I seen his mum but not his dad. He's at the vets on Wednesday for vaccs etc so presumably the vet will be able to shed some light on it. He's absolutely gorgeous though! Such a lovely lovely little boy

Is your vets doing vaccinations at the moment?

If you can show us his legs we'll know if he's lurcher. TBH if he is a lurcher then you should be really pleased they are the best!

Yes our vets are still doing vaccs, they collect the dog from the car park then bring him back out when he's done. Whatever he is, I'm happy, he's got such a beautiful nature

Oh! It’s the colouring isn’t it? The lack of white on his face. Shape is similar to my merle though.

It's hard when the photo doesn't show his legs, tail and body type but he's obviously a crossbred something, probably not even a cross of two pure breeds. Doesn't look like any type of pure bred collie, nor a pure bred GSD (and no, it's definitely not a Malinois), I'd guess a collie/lurcher (which can be pretty much anything crossed with a sighthound).

Sorry if you've said this already but what type of collie is he supposed to be?
We have a red boarder collie (our farm dog) and there are SOME similarities with the face your pup has. He's a big dog now but here's a pic of him as a pup ❤️

He might have some Collie but he's not a Collie, nor is he a German Shepherd. He looks like a Lurcher type, possibly a mix of several breeds. Where did you get him from? Were you deliberately misled as to his breeding?

The government and the British Veterinary Association have instructed all vets to only undertake emergency work unless it involves animals who are in the food chain. All vaccinations should be cancelled.

I would be VERY concerned what other veterinary safety procedures they will breech if they're prepared to ignore this. No way would I risk taking my puppy to such an unprofessional and unethical vets.

Take some personal responsibility and realise that this is not essential travel and if we were all to be so selfish if would cause thousands of deaths in this country.

I don’t think he looks german shepherd other than the colour and even that isnt 100% right, maybe a way in the past there was some GSD somewhere but I don’t think he is a 50:50 GSD cross. The face and body shape is all wrong for a young GSD or even half a GSD.

I would say lurcher, probably a bit of everything thrown in at one point.
