I's have said soft-coated wheaten terrier, too. They're a largish terrier

Or a wheaten or airedale cross.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2019 16:31

I reckon it's an Airedale crossed with an Italian Spinone.

Oh! Interesting suggestion. I could see that.

origamiwarrior · 26/01/2019 16:34

No idea on the dog but that room would be even lovelier if they hadn't whitewashed the bricks in the inglenook.

Pasithea · 26/01/2019 16:42

Otterhound

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/01/2019 16:42

Could it be a wheaten terrier?

Elphame · 26/01/2019 17:05

Looks like an Irish or Irish cross to me. Size is about right and the colour looks too uniform for an Airedale.

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 26/01/2019 17:11

That's an adult male Irish terrier.

GrumpyGran8 · 26/01/2019 17:13

Maelstrop, I agree about the logs! It always annoys me when I see interior design articles with photos of rooms with log stoves - there's always a neatly-arranged stack of logs in an alcove. Usually, there's not enough logs to feed the stove for longer than a couple of hours; that picture does at least have a fairly realistic number of logs - there might be enough there for two evenings' burning.
And yopu're spot on about creepy-crawlies making their home in log piles, especially in autumn. There's a reason why people who use their log stoves for actually warming the house, rather than decoration, keep logs outside!

Tasha5952 · 26/01/2019 17:16

It's an unclipped Irish Terrier.

borntobequiet · 26/01/2019 17:38

Whatever it is, those flowers won’t last long if someone rings the doorbell/opens a tin of dog food/shouts “walkies”.

TaintforTheLikesOfWe · 26/01/2019 17:50

It's too big to be an Irish terrier.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2019 18:11

It does look very big - but that could be photoshop.

("We like this sort of shaggy dog and the colour's ideal, but it's a bit smaller than we want to set off the room the way we envisage"

"No problem guv'nor! We can fix that through the Magic of Photoshop!")

Elphame · 26/01/2019 18:47

It's too big to be an Irish terrier Looks about right to me.

There have been a number of posters on this thread who are confusing the Irish Terrier ( height about 20 inches) with the Welsh ( which look like mini Airedales) and are around 5 inches shorter.

LornaD1888 · 26/01/2019 19:32

Belgian Shepherd Laekenois

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2019 19:41

No - not a Laekenois.

Shambolical1 · 26/01/2019 20:23

Soft coated wheaten terrier in need of some grooming.

Mumof3dogs · 27/01/2019 17:25

Looks like an Airedale to me - when they get older and their coat grows a lot they look like this.
I have 2 currently- look them up on instagram

Jpgs · 27/01/2019 17:25

I really hope that we are going to get a definitive answer on this one! Looks pretty cute, and I love the room.

Hidinginthelootoo · 27/01/2019 17:36

OP. Irish terriers are amazing family dogs, ive had them all my life, however, they are terriers which means they go deaf to instruction if something more fun has caught their eye! They are soft with children, amazing guard dogs, happy to loll about the house all day or a 15 mile hike. I wouldn't have any other breed.

ApplesAndPearsStairs · 27/01/2019 17:37

Irish terrier

beeline · 27/01/2019 17:42

It’s an Airdale all day long, amazed at your other suggestions, but hey ho x
