I mean, I absolutely love and adore my dog so much, I'm not sure it's normal or right to love a dog this much. I don't go anywhere without him, and I know he adores me too.

I took him to the vet today, I was worrying about nothing, but then got thinking omg, what will I do when the time comes. the thought of it is just horrendous.

Is it just me who feels this deeply about their dog?

Absolute adore our girl. On had her 6 months and cannot conceive of a single day without her. She brings SO much joy to our home.

The joyful and loving relationship with a dog is as good as it gets. Selfless, pure, intense. Like the overwhelming grief when they die. 100,000 years of co-evolution condensed into a dog's lifespan.

This is a lovely thread. I wasn't fussed on getting a dog. I love them but I didn't think we needed another life about the place.

I cannot imagine a day let alone a life without him. I was happy anyway, have a lively life, great family but DDog actually completes me and makes me a much happier person.

This is such a lovely thread. I adore my beautiful crazy (Springer) boy . I love everything about him. He is my first dog and will never be without a dog again. I cannot explain how much happiness he has brought to our family.

This is just the best. There's nothing I enjoy more than getting back into the car with my girl after a long walk and she has that 'this is the life' look on her face, covered in mud and soaking wet! I can't go a day without her she has completed me and every dark day she brings so much joy to!

I have found my tribe Grin I love my girl so so so much, she is 11.5 now and I cant think of life without her. I am not alone in my adoration of her, my grown up DD face times her regularly and is the first person she kisses and cuddles when she walks in the house.

my grown up DD face times her

Such a lovely thread Flowers for all the loses.

We don't have pets (flat, central London, ft jobs - when we retire and move we definitely will) but I grew up with cats and dogs and my very elderly parents had them until five years ago. All were loved but the death of my mother's last little dog nearly broke her. Even five years later her eyes fill with tears when she speaks of Billy. He was the thing she loved most in the world (and I'm fine with that!). We did try to pursuade them to adopt or foster another, but she couldn't bear the thought. It's sad to see them without a dog ...

I’ve only had Dpup a short time and got a lump in my throat reading this. The first week I just thought he was very cute but now, I adore him. Like pp said, their lives are short so it’s a good thing we love them this much.
