How much do you love your dog, I'm not sure my feelings are normal!!

I mean, I absolutely love and adore my dog so much, I'm not sure it's normal or right to love a dog this much. I don't go anywhere without him, and I know he adores me too.

I took him to the vet today, I was worrying about nothing, but then got thinking omg, what will I do when the time comes. the thought of it is just horrendous.

Is it just me who feels this deeply about their dog?

I love my dog too. My 2 DD's are aware of where they come in the "who mum loves most" rankings. Neither are number 1!

My dog is my constant companion and has been there for me through good time and bad. I never have to explain anything to her and she is a very calming influence.

The thought of her not being around fills me with horror.

I adore and cherish our girly, she's fascinating, beautiful and endlessly hilarious. Like a kid, except none of the (many) bad bits. We're moving house soon and are only viewing houses that have nice bits nearby for her to go to.

Our old girl died two years ago, so I know the horror of it, and to love them as hard as you can for their short lives. No regrets.

The greatest look of love I have ever seen on someone's face, was a young woman looking at her dog. Just some people next to me at a pavement cafe. I found it very moving.

I often think about how much I love my dog. As in, is it too much. I love him as though he was my actual child. I would rather be with my dog than with most people. Not sure what that says about me tbh!

Oh we've only had her 5 months (she's an older dog) and I love her truly, madly, deeply. I thought I'd love her but I LOVE her - she is an endless source of fun and joy and our home is happier for having her in it. I'm just so sad she's 7 already.

We talk about him, kiss him, take photos of him - far more than the children!

Dogs live solely in the moment, whether they're fully embracing a good sleep, rolling around in grass, lost in sniffing, they don't get sad at their failing bodies, or hurt you for fun the way humans do. They're not dreary or bland or tedious like humans (can you tell I work with the general public?). Their devotion is complete, they're pure joy and love. No one would ever love you as much as your dog. No human would sing and spin in the pure joy of seeing you walk through a doorway, listen to your secrets, absorb your tears and protect you to the last beat of their heart.

I look upon people who claim they hate dogs, with contempt, and pity those who have never known a dogs love. My favourite memories and happiest days involve a dog.

So it's not just me then. Thank God for that. I love my dog like he is my child too Glitter. But it scares me actually as I struggle to separate the feelings between my dog and my children and husband!

Looking at your dog releases oxytocin which is the love chemical apparently.

I love ddog1 & 2 - they make me happy every time I look at them and I find them fascinating.

I do, however, love DC much more - even though they cause far more problems.

DDog's silly face makes me happy every time at look at the bugger.

Oh yes - you are not alone!
I LOVED LOVED LOVED my dog so much (for 14 years) and she brought so much joy into my life. She never let me down and got me through some tough times. I had such a connection with her and seeing her delight when I came through the door was magical. They can give you the unconditional love that I am not sure you can get from humans in the same way. I hope I made her as happy as she made me!

I too love my ddog so much I call him my fur baby he goes everywhere with me
He is the light of my life and I adore him I don't know what I would do without him to be honest.
He makes me laugh every day at his silly antics and is right there to comfort me when I'm down and sad or not feeling well.
I wouldn't be without him, he gives me unconditional love and who else shows me such joy and excitement when I return home even if I've only been gone 20 minutes he jumps into my arms in excitement.
Dogs are just the best.

I'm joining the love dog club. The singularly most important and best time of my day is when I get home from work and dog comes downstairs and jumps up on the sofa for a cuddle, tail wagging, and chatting to me with a big grin on his face. No matter how bad my day has been it's gone in that second. He's an old boy (10) and we've only had him a year (rescue) but can't imagine life without him. If I could give up work and stay at home all day with him I would and I don't say that about DH even though I love him too
He's trying to dig a hole under the coffee table atm Grin

well that's only about 17 of us up to now Grin is it just us?

I'm feeling a bit better knowing I'm not on my own. I'm at work atm and gutted its my dh who gets the lunch time walk with our boy today in the lovely sunshine. I can't wait to see him tonight (the dog not dh Grin ). he saves the best ever greeting for me. he will charge down the hall shouting at me as he comes and go berserk.

the humans won't even notice I'm back until they want something

I love my dog ridiculous amounts, I'm sure some people think I'm mental but I don't care, I prefer him to most people anyway!

My eldest dog is the light of my life, he creaks when he sleeps and is the best cuddler. He can make the stresses of the day go away in the blink of an eye - then again he made two easter eggs and a loaf of bread disappear as well, but I forgave him for that! People cross the road when they see us walking him - I dont know what they think he is but he is big and scary and yet a softer more loving dog I have yet to meet. I luffs him more than many things - on learning that we might have to relocate I did declare to my very much loved DH that if the dog couldn't go then I would remain in the UK with him (and I stand by that!)

life I would definitely do that too. you can tell your husband why you won't be joining him and he will understand you, but you can't tell your dog that you will be leaving him behind because he won't understand.

and stinky, I definitely love my dog more than most people. He is pure joy to be with

Glad other people feel the same way, mine is only 3 and sometimes I get weepy thinking about the fact that one day she won't be around! I would rather spend time with her than pretty much anyone else.

My boy is nearly 7, and I think about when he won't be here too. I can hardly bear it, when I start to feel like it I go and give him a big kiss and cuddle and tell him how much I love him

I'm a first time dog owner, had my boy since August when he was 4 months old. I've always liked him but I'm currently falling in love with him. I've not found it easy as I haven't a clue what I'm doing but we've been going to training classes and its coming together now.

The last 3 days we have been walking in the woods and its been lovely. Weather gorgeous, dog off lead chasing tennis balls, beautiful birds and squirrels around and dog doing as he's told! I wouldn't have dreamed of going off for a walk before I got my dog but it's like a whole new world of adventures has opened up.

He's my new best friend and I'm smitten!
