Morning and welcome.
To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.
There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.
The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).
In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.
Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.
Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.
Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.
Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.
There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Morning @sashhand Happy New Year - I hope you are okay. I always read the Happy Place although never join in, but I came here to say thank you for keeping it going; it’s very comforting reading all of the comings and goings. I will sit by the ice rink and drink strong coffee.

sashh · 06/01/2026 03:06

Morning.

For those who asked I get as far as lying on the bed, having ear plugs and headphones on but when they attached the camera I couldn't do it. Maybe I should have asked for 10 mins but it was late, dark and cold and wanted to be at home. I'm going to look into things like hypnotherapy or CBT

Breakfast.

Well Leo had his wellies on and has gone of to find dogos that need washing so no eggs this morning. It's another day of snow here so if anyone wants to watch whatever is going on on the ice rink. I think the bumblcats are enjoying the snow, they are making tunnels so watch your feet.

Anyway I'm going to do things you can take outside, toasties, jaffles, bacon or sausage butties.

Florence is making doughnuts and waffles.

Fernando has hot chocolate and Bovril, make sure you get the right one

Welcome @ProfessorRizz I am glad you enjoy reading, it really is just the ramblings of an older breakfast obsessed woman.

I don't know what happened, I did a long post about a nut based breakfast but it didn't post so I'm going to say hand in your orders for any of the staff.

Morning all.

Someone has told Leo about eggs that are not from chickens, he has duck, goose, ostrich and penguin eggs.

I will leave it to you lovely people to decide whether to try them.

Florence is making ciabatta so I think some lovely toppings would be jam, marmalade, lemon curd, Bovril and you all know where the box in the garden is.

Fernando has some Amaretto for a nutty kick.

Yaaaay

CrazyGoatLady · 11/01/2026 23:31

A duck egg isn't bad. Goose eggs and ostrich eggs would be a bit big though!

Maybe Leo would like to come see my goats.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 12/01/2026 03:04

Well its mych more mild this morning...

How is everyone doing?

EllaPepper · 12/01/2026 04:12

it's my first time in the cafe. i am awake because i am really sad about something. i could do with some tea and eggs if you are still serving?

sashh · 12/01/2026 07:40

Morning. @CrazyGoatLady Leo would love to see your goats. Duck eggs make an amazing Yorkshire pudding.

@EllaPepper just tea and eggs, I'll bring them right over.

I think this morning I'm going to make pancakes. Sweet or savoury. Florence is making the American style pancakes and Fernando has some really nice chocolate orange cocoa.

@sashh I have passed your cafe a number of times, and it seems to be a friendly, happy place to be. I hope I can drop in and enjoy some lovely breakfast that are offered.
Looking forward to meeting everyone here soon.

Goshmoments · 13/01/2026 05:15

Hi, I'm up early don't know where to go.
I would love some pancakes with syrup and mixed berries. Oh, and hot cocoa. I like to sit down somewhere cosy. Thanks.

sashh · 13/01/2026 05:30

Morning

@Goshmoments of course you can, take a seat.

I think for a change we shall have a Nigerian breakfast. Florence is making bean cakes and bread. Leo is frying eggs as a side dish.

I'm going to fry some plantain and make corn porridge. Enjoy people

Morning all. I'm up before the crack of dawn as usual. Too many loose threads in my life, they always end up getting tangled in my brain and making me way up way too early

Just a strong coffee and some vitamins for me please!

sashh · 15/01/2026 05:13

Morning.

Well IRL life is interesting, I'm not going to say any more.

I'm going to do a full English (anyone from NI or Scotland you can add your own additions). Bacon, eggs (Leo is making poached and fried)sausages (Lincolnshire or Cumberland) potato cakes, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread, black pudding and beans of course.

Florence has been baking bread and is now on toast duty so put you orders in for toast, crumpets, drop scones and bread muffins.

Fernando has tea, coffee, hot chocolate and if you ask nicely he will add a tot of alcohol.

Morning, that sounds lovely and as a NI person, potato farls are a winner.

JanuaryJasmine · 15/01/2026 07:03

Can any if them make great corn bread!!

large latte & hot corn bread & butter would be divine!

(along with no calories, nothing affects blood sugars either!!)

BleakAF · 15/01/2026 07:09

@sashhthis is lovely. I'm here to pet the kittenbees and drink nutty hot chocolate to distract myself from bad dream I just woke up from. Happy day everyone!

Goshmoments · 15/01/2026 08:00

Morning. Nice to have company.

sashh · 16/01/2026 03:55

Morning. You will have to give orders to F, F and L.

IRL my dad has had a stroke, I can't get to see him for a number of reasons.

My phone rang at 2.40 with the hospital number, it rang off before I could answer. The 'voicemail' sounded like butt dialing but of course I 'm awake.

Oh and I have a colonoscopy today.
