Morning and welcome.
To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.
There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.
The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).
In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.
Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.
Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.
Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.
Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.
There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Ahhh me and the kitten bees enjoyed the lemon cakes this morning. Thank you

I need kitten bees irl

sashh · 05/02/2026 05:11

Morning.

I think tinned food is underrated. Yes it is quick and usually cheap but we should give it a bit of love.

So Florence is making sod bread to be toasted while I open and heat up tinned, beans, beans with BBQ sauce, sausage and beans, tinned all day breakfast, cheesy beans and, one I am unsure about, Fray Bentos do an 'all day breakfast pie', I leave I'll that unless anyone wants to try it.

Leo will take egg orders for eggs.

Fernando is serving bucks fizz as well as coffee and tea.

Morning

Sashh, you have experienced ups and downs, yet you have that strength and resilience in you. Thank you for making time for us.

I would like to spend some time with the kittenbees and breakfast later.

Ready now. Beans on toast and I’ll try the Fray Bentos breakfast, I've never had it before. Thanks.

P.S I nearly couldn't get in here, it was one of those blank moments.

sashh · 05/02/2026 08:08

@Goshmoments thank you for the kind words. IRL has been a bit of a roller coaster.

Morning.

Well I think we need a little bit of French influence but not croissants, Florence is baking some lovely multigrain bread that I am turning in to a croque monsieur.

Leo wants to turn them into croque madame.

Morning.

I'm hoping a lighter breakfast might make spring arrive sooner.

Various fruit juices, yoghurt, a selection of fresh fruit; melon, grapes, pineapple, apple and cherries.

Florence is making smoothies of your choice, Fernando can add a drop of vodka to the juice if you like.

Leo is making soufflé omelettes.

Thank you for keeping this place open.. Great choice of breakfast.
IRL I have porridge nearly every day.

Mmmm.. croque monsieur, sounds nice. Some fruits and maybe Leo's omelette . Thanks.

Morning.

I think this morning we should have a trip to Germany.

Florence is making Brot and Brötchen.

Leo is making soft boiled eggs.

I'll put out some ham, salami, Emmental cheese with butter and jams.

Fernando has tea, coffee, hot chocolate and of course orange juice.

Hello there. Called in this morning. Happy to be able to sit by the window watching the kittenbees and have a cuppa. ☺️

sashh · 11/02/2026 08:15

Morning.

A bit of a late one here sorry for that.

I think sausage butties will make a fine breakfast, Florence is making soft bread rolls and crusty rolls.

I'm cooking Lincolnshire, Cumberland, apple and pork, chipolatas, lorne and bratwurst.

Leo is making Kraszanki.

Fernando has tea, coffee and eggnog.

Hi,
Another new breakfast surprise! I cant say, pronouce them.
What you and your staff cook always tastes nice and fills my stomach.
I will have a wander around before sitting down for my breakfast.
I hope others can drop by and try some new food .

SeekingTreasures · 13/02/2026 10:38

Hello,
Such an exciting breakfast. I’m really glad to have come across your café with such lovely new tasses to try.
Really looking forward to it.

I’ll stick to tea and give the early morning spirits a miss (or I’ll have to go back to bed !😀)

Hope you all have a good day. ☺️

sashh · 14/02/2026 06:17

Morning.

Well I'm glad the Malawi adventure worked out.

I think Leo needs to cook, washing goats just is not the same so I'm leaving most of the breakfast, so fried eggs, poached, convent, scrambled (with cheese and or smoked salmon if you like).

Florence is making a collection of breads, soda, sour dough, baguettes and morning rolls.

Fernando has tea, coffee, hot chocolate with or without a wee dram.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 14/02/2026 06:34

Hello, I'm completely new here. It's frankly entrancing although I'm too lazy right now to rtft. 🙄
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon sounds delicious, especially as it's something I normally only have at xmas - why is that, I wonder?
Two questions; can Florence kindly do any gluten-free versions of the baked items? I would be eternally grateful (or grateful for the length of time it takes to eat'em). And what's a convent egg? Does it swoop around in a nun's habit saying its rosary? 😇

Ooo and hot chocolate minus the dram for now would be divine. Ta.

BCBird · 14/02/2026 06:48

Morning. Is there any gluten.free bread? If not, I'll have a delicious cup of your tea please and will sit and watch the world ho by.

BleakAF · 14/02/2026 06:50

@sashh thank you for being you!

I'm going to sit inside this morning and watch all the goings on. I will have a plate of very softly scrambled eggs and a bit of warm baguette please.

I'll deffo take a wee dram with my coffee as well.

Do you need any help with the washing up? Happy to roll up my sleeves and pitch in.

Goshmoments · 14/02/2026 07:26

Morning all.
I feel cold today, so I will find a warm spot to sit down.
I would love a large coffee for a boost of caffeine because I have a busy day today. Just a scrambled egg on sourdough, if possible also like smashed or sliced avocado on toast.

sashh · 14/02/2026 13:20

For those of you asking for gluten free, of course Florence can make it but as all the food here is calorie free I don't think it will set off any coeliac problems, allergies and intolerance.

OP posts:
sashh · 15/02/2026 05:22

Morning.

I feel a trip to Finland would make a change.

Florence is making rye bread to be topped with butter, obviously but also a choice of cold meats, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs boiled and sliced by Leo.

Fernando has huge pot of hot coffee, but will make tea if asked.

SeekingTreasures · 15/02/2026 08:02

Morning,
What a lovely breakfast you’re all making again !
I’m going to have a little of everything please. The coffee smells really welcoming, but I’m going to ask for my usual cuppa.
Happy Sunday to you !!
