Morning and welcome.
To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.
There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.
The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).
In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.
Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.
Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.
Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.
Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.
There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

I’ll just pull up a comfy chair and make a cuppa. I’m too hot and weirdly itchy like my skin is crawling with lice (it isn’t by the way!). Might make a piece of plastic white toast too this morning. With salty butter

sashh · 19/08/2026 03:48

Morning, would you like some cheese on that toast, or marmalade.

Morning.

Leo has discovered 'Turkish eggs', poached eggs served on yoghurt with lemon juice and Turkish pepper.

Morning. Was up but travelling yesterday. I’d love those Turkish eggs if there’s any leftovers. Otherwise lime marmalade on some granary toast with salty butter too would be excellent.
plus have got a terrier that could do with a shower if there’s the option to get him shampoos to a pink panther fluff ball state and fragrant again ?!

sashh · 21/08/2026 11:14

Give the terrier to Leo.

I'll let you have the eggs and then you can finish it off with a toast and lime marmalade.

How are you doing @sashh ?

sashh · 23/08/2026 02:48

@ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 I'm doing OK. I had a trip to Lancashire to bury my parents' ashes.

I still don't know why have been ill, I need another trip to the doctor.

How about you?

Gods own county @sashh Hope it went as well as it could do. My toast was lovely thanks. Will likely need same again later as sleep elusive this week

My parents lived in Lancashire but we are proud Yorkshire stock so I will disagree about God's own country.

It's getting cooler but still quite warm so the pool is still open but is heated now.

Leo is trying a new scrambled egg technique, breaking the eggs in to a frying pan and cooking the whites around them, once the whites are cooked the yolks are used to coat them. I am sceptical, but I'm toasting bagels to go with them.

How did it go?

Was your brother there?

sashh · 24/08/2026 09:45

It is probably best not to mention my brother. He is absolutely furious about it. I had the oadasity to suggest my mother's sisters might want a say.

It was nice, only a few of us, 6 I think.

Don’t tell anyone @sashh but I prefer Yorkshire - just wanted to bond with you , my hero! I will try the eggs. Sounds nice

sashh · 28/08/2026 07:12

I have never been hero before, the closest I have come until now is getting a 'chufty badge'.

Now breakfast, it's getting cooler, thankfully, so I'll make some hot chocolate and churros.

OP posts:
Lolaslashes · 31/08/2026 03:38

Oooh did you freeze any churros or batter ? I’ll get the fryer on if so. 3.39 am. Wide awake

sashh · 31/08/2026 03:57

<Hands over a fresh batch of batter>

Leo is obviously making eggs, so scrambled or fried on toast and I think I will make tomato soup as a pack up.
