The Happy Place Café is open 2026

Morning and welcome.
To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.
There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.
The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).
In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.
Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.
Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.
Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.
Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.
There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

IRL Thank you for your messages. My Dad passed away on Friday. He was 87 but he was fit and healthy, he drove from Lancashire to me in Wolverhampton and then on to my brother's in Cornwall for Christmas and then did the journey in return a few days later.

Apparently the stroke was quite bad and he also had pneumonia.

The colonoscopy was fine. It was to check the polyps they removed last time had not come back.

Hello
May I Join this little happy club
I'm vegan and don't eat breakfast, but would love a love a soya milk coffee.
I have the dentist in the morning,so I'm unlikely to sleep much tonight.
@sashh sorry to hear about your sad news .but glad your colonoscopy was fine xxx

CrazyGoatLady · 22/01/2026 05:27

I'm hoping Leo is cooking omelettes for breakfast. I've had a fairly sleepless night because my DGM is in hospital and called around 2am in distress due to the conditions in A&E where she is waiting for a bed on a ward. Staff nurse was very nice and apologetic when I rang, she's in a private bay and they've done as much as they can for her comfort. It's just chaos in there. A nice omelette and a cup of coffee would help if Leo is on egg duty, and he can come up with me to feed the goats later if he's got any spare chopped veggies, they would love that.

sashh · 22/01/2026 06:10

@CrazyGoatLady Leo will be happy to make one and he's really excited about the goats.

Morning.

IRL I'm looking for hymns / songs for the funeral. My brother has veto because, hey he's always the one to make decisions / get his own way.

I'm going to distract myself with breakfast. Just something simple. Florence is making toast of various types with toppings, cheese, beans, bacon, jam, marmalade, obviously eggs cooked by Leo. Hopefully you won't ask for it all on one slice of bread.

Morning.

@sashh lRL. You do what is best and look after your health.

And others, please look after yourselves too.

I had the flu and haven't been eating properly. Now that I'm feeling better, my body is ready to refuel, so I will eat a lot. I hope Florence doesn’t mind if I put more on my plate. I love apricot jam on toast, beans as well, along with pastries(if available) and anything else on offer, plus a hot cocoa. Thanks.

PS. I hope I’m not being greedy.

You can be as greedy as you like, take a pack up too if you want.

Morning.

Well I think we need something warming so I'm making kedgeree. Florence is making croissants for anyone who prefers something sweet.

Fernando has hot chocolate with a drop of brandy to keep out the cold.

Leo thinks that the boiled eggs in the kedgeree are not enough so you might get a poached egg on the side.

Goshmoments · 25/01/2026 07:51

Hi, morning.

I love to have two croissants. If Leo doesn't mind, could he make a fried egg for me? Thanks.

sashh · 26/01/2026 03:33

An egg? He would love to do you a dozen

@sashh I’m so very sorry for the loss of your dad. I do hope you’re taking good care of yourself during this difficult time.

With all that’s been going on for you, thank you for coming back into the cafe and getting things sorted for all of us arriving here in the morning. It’s very kind of you.

I’m new to your cafe. It’s such a welcoming way to start the day. Lovely watching the the kittenbees busying themselves. I hope I’m not too early for a pot of tea in the warm seat by the window.

MrsRandallFraser · 26/01/2026 04:25

Oh @sashh I’m so sorry to hear about your dad, I hope you have people around you to look after you with the same care you give everyone here.

It’s been a minute since I’ve been to the cafe, we had a good stint of very good sleep for a while but recently it’s not been so great so we’re back!

I need a cup of tea and a snooze and I’ll let the baby chase the kittenbees around seeing as he’s on the move now.

sashh · 26/01/2026 09:26

Morning.

IRL. Things are, er, interesting with my brother.

Breakfast is a little late but Fernando has a huge pot of tea made. Florence is making bread of various types, I'll just put out a selection of cheeses, hams, jams and preserves.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 27/01/2026 00:56

Ah thats rubbish....
Family can be shit sometimes. Im sorry

sashh · 27/01/2026 04:04

Morning.

I'm going to head to Pakistan for this mornings breakfast.

Lahori chan, Haleem, Roghni naan and lassi to drink.

I know not everyone likes spice first thing so Florence is making soft bread rolls, try to get one and add jam before Leo sticks an egg in to it.

Fernando has coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Obviously with a tot of whatever you fancy.
