Morning.

Just setting this up before the old one fills up.

For anyone new, this is a cafe where you can come, eat (calorie free) drink and be merry.

There are kittenbees in the café, which are kittens the size of bees, they are friendly but do nibble the pastries.

Outside are their larger 'cousins' the Bumblecats, they are not as friendly.

Leo is a Lemur who now runs the outdoor dog wash.

Florence is a French pastry chef, Fernando is a cocktail waiter.

Outside is a water feature and a petting zoo.

Grilled fish would be very nice.
Can Fernando make me a rice wine and and champagne cocktail, I am feeling very decadent

sashh · 27/07/2024 06:00

Of course Fernando can make you a cocktail.

Florence is making sourdough and I'm making soup, courgette to be served chilled with a dollop of creme fraiche and cauliflower to be eaten warm.

I'll make some onigiri with the left over rice and fish.

ScottBakula · 27/07/2024 19:52

Thankyou for the cocktail 🤪 .
I am not keen on courgette so I will give the cauil soup ago .

ScottBakula · 27/07/2024 19:54

I fancy some kippers , can I have some for breakfast with a couple of poached eggs please

sashh · 28/07/2024 04:30

Morning.

Kippers, brilliant idea, I'll serve a 1970s style curl of butter on the side.

Florence is making soft Scottish morning rolls for anyone who wants to mop up kipper butter. Fernando has, well there seems to be a slight Scottish theme some single malts to try.

Once the kippers are done I'll make some shortbread.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 28/07/2024 05:03

Mmm thank you for the kippers sashh.

I havent had short bread for ages so that will go down well with a coffee later.

sashh · 28/07/2024 05:14

@ScottBakula Shortbread is so easy to make but I am banned. I made some for my arer and he described it as 'sugary crack'.

Morning.

It looks like another quiet day so I'm cooking to order, mainly things on toast, so eggs, cheese, beans etc.

Florence is making bagels which I'll fill for bait boxes and Fernando is serving sangria.

Morning.

I'm going to have an early swi and pop back later.

Good morning @sashh , I have left you a warm extra fluffy towel on that lounger.
I think Leo will try to dry you .
I have never tried to make shortbread , do you have a easy recipe I could try ?

'On toast' , is a good idea , can I have Welsh rarebit please

sashh · 30/07/2024 06:27

Thank you for the towel.

150g plain flower
100g butter chilled and cubed
50g caster sugar

Put in a bowl and rub the flour and sugar in to the butter until it looks like breadcrumbs.

Then squeeze together until it looks like dough.

I then roll it out like a sausage and cut into 1 inch slices. Flatten them with a fork, put n a greased baking tray. Bake at 170 for 15 - 20 mins.

ScottBakula · 30/07/2024 06:42

Thanks for the recipe @sashh , if I'm not working this weekend I will give it ago.

sashh · 30/07/2024 06:58

Give it a go, it really is easy.

Are we open?

I could do with some cake. I made a cake yesterday and I wondered why it wasn't rising and tasted odd.

I forgot to put in the eggs....

sashh · 31/07/2024 05:28

Morning.

Cake for breakfast? Why not?

Florence makes a mean lemon drizzle and I make a great chocolate sponge. Fernando has a banana liqueur.

Leo is washing the goats, because? Well Leo.

ScottBakula · 31/07/2024 05:37

Lemon drizzle cake ? Count me in please . I had some of tescos lemon cake yesterday, its OK but not lemony enough for me.

Quick , there is fresh baked lemon drizzle cake and cocktails ! 🍰

MinnieMountain · 31/07/2024 06:11

Lemon drizzle you say @ScottBakula?

I'll pass on the cocktail though. I feel about bananas as @sashh feels about marmite.

ScottBakula · 31/07/2024 06:47

Indeed , very nice it is too.

I dislike bananas too , I have a work mate that only eats them when the skin is almost black . I can smell it the second I walk into the kitchen and hate it .

Sweetpea1532 · 31/07/2024 07:14

I'd love to have a slice (or big hunk) of that lemon drizzle cake @ScottBakula ...and when you make the shortbread, would you mind if I try it with a hot cup of coffee, please? Yum!

sashh · 31/07/2024 08:06

@Sweetpea1532 Try making it yourself it really is easy.

Am I too late for lemon drizzle?

sashh · 31/07/2024 12:35

No one is ever too late for lemon drizzle.

OP posts:
Sweetpea1532 · 31/07/2024 17:05

Thank you @sashh , I will try and make it...(I'll probably end up with very little from the oven as I'm one of those who loves to eat cookie dough)

PoopingAllTheWay · 31/07/2024 22:54

Hoping there will be some lemon drizzle cake left over later :)
