Apparently it's starting soon! Sad that our Cassie isn't in it anymore (RIP) but we've still got Sunny.
It's one of my favourite TV shows. I now feel the need to binge the first four series again.

I guess I'm old fashioned 😂😂

TrashyPanda · 27/02/2023 13:48

I prefer binge watching too.

im less likely to forget things that way!

we will probably start watching tmorra night and finish on Wednesday evening.

AnthonyTheTurtle · 27/02/2023 22:57

Where can I binge it??

Southeastdweller · 27/02/2023 23:03

All eps available here - www.itv.com

CherryogDog · 28/02/2023 00:02

I'm a binger, different in the old days when there were only 3 channels and fewer options, these days I'm watching about 5 series and the odd film thrown in!
Talking about itvx having glitches, mine has subtitles by default, anyone else got them too?

Pemba · 28/02/2023 00:07

So they didn't make the previous series available all at once, but did it weekly like Happy Valley? I kind of wish they'd stuck to that, because I am tempted now... Doing it weekly makes it more of an occasion and leads to more discussion on here..

I liked episode 1, but miss Nicola Walker /Cassie as do her team obviously. Poor Sunny! Do we think he actually loved Cassie more than his partner? Didn't they get it on once, what happened does anyone remember?

I wonder why Nicola Walker wanted to leave, what else has she got planned?

The new woman Jess is not a very sympathetic character so far, although that'll probably change over this series. And I've seen Sinead Keenan in lots of stuff before, she's good.

No subtitles but it sometimes gets 'stuck'. I had to give up on Maternal.

I have just binged all previous Series. They had a quick snog and then decided to never go there again.

I’m so excited! Prepared breakfast and resigned myself to just watching one episode and try and remember all the characters for next week and turns out all episode are there!

Southeastdweller · 28/02/2023 10:28

I didn’t get any glitches but then I signed up for a weeks free trial of ITVX Premium. Watched all eps now, on demand viewing is the way forward!

Aixellency · 28/02/2023 12:18

Binged all of S5!

Started around midnight, had to stop at 5.30am at the end of Ep5. Just finished Ep6.

Really excellent! The only thing it lacked was the touch of hilarity as the revelations unfolded, which there was in S4. I know there’s a week by week thread so can we talk about the whole thing on this one?

(And yes, I do feel thoroughly disgusted with myself. Half the fun of S4 was the week long discussion after each episode! I’ll miss that.)

Southeastdweller · 28/02/2023 12:56

I thought that was the weakest of the five series’s. So disappointed with it but I’m glad I have ITVX premium so I saved time not having to sit through ads.

PinkFrogss · 28/02/2023 13:27

(Slight spoilers)

What happened to Sunny’s family? I thought he was married with teenage daughters but I’m on episode 5 and there’s been no mention of them

diddl · 28/02/2023 18:08

Just watching the first ep.

Not really missing Cassie.

Ian McElhinney sounding posh!

The wonderful Hayley Mills-looking fabulous for the best part of 80!

Aixellency · 28/02/2023 18:16

Isn’t he divorced - with two teen daughters? And living with his fiancée. So I assumed his daughters were with their mother (or just out) during the moments we saw him at home in S5.

Mxflamingnoravera · 28/02/2023 23:39

I've just binged the whole series, I'm off work sick with a gastro bug. As there is another TV paced thread I hope I'm ok to say that as predicted Sunny and Jessie finally get to like each other and work well together. The story was convoluted but all fitted neatly into place with a nice final twist.

I hope Sunny has a good old think about how to be a better partner in a relationship, he's probably lost Sal now.

I kept thinking, I'll go back to bed after this one finishes, but no, I binged the lot. I'll have to go back to work tomorrow, I've run out of binge worthy series.

Feministwoman · 01/03/2023 00:21

Just binged it all. Fabulous

PoseyFlump · 01/03/2023 06:56

Not really missing Cassie.

My DP used to do an impression of her acting, with her long pauses and sideway glances. Totally ruined it for me. Liking this series so far.

diddl · 01/03/2023 07:06

Well bloody hell.

That was me up until after midnight-watched the whole lot!

Loved it!

diddl · 01/03/2023 07:11

that as predicted Sunny and Jessie finally get to like each other and work well together.

Yes.

I was a bit annoyed at first with her being given problems & then it leading to her being off with new colleagues.

It must always me hard taking over in such circs.

"You win"!

So did what she thought happened happen or was her husband lying?

Well I'll certainly watch another series!

Aixellency · 01/03/2023 07:12

It was perhaps just a tad over-complicated. But worth the effort. In some ways I thought it was the best and most absorbing story - we generally think of generational trauma on a macro level, whereas here it played out on a micro level.

And the cast was gorgeous! I particularly enjoyed watching Rhys Yates as Jay - will probably seek out the other things he’s been in. Not sure about Sinéad Keenan - her acting and characterisation were fine - but I really hope that was a wig; far too distracting.

Mxflamingnoravera · 01/03/2023 07:40

Ooh yes, I thought that had to be a wig, it was too thick, too same every day to be her real hair and it looked itchy and dry.
I also couldn't figure out how she has an Irish accent when neither her mum or sister do...

goingtotown · 01/03/2023 07:40

@diddl Hayley Mills is 76.

I know.

Still think she looks fab though.

diddl · 01/03/2023 07:57

Yes it was.

Really interesting how they all connected.

Great characters.

Few things that I think "I'll just watch one more"-this was one!
